Sloths are pretty popular right now with young readers, and this delightful graphic novel portrays some very likeable ones. Peter and Ernesto are sloth friends who go on a quest for their sloth friend, Bernard. Along the way, they meet up with some very interesting rainforest creatures. This is a positive story about friendship, and in the words of one character, how "Great things happen when you least expect them!" If you are trying to build up your graphic novel selections for grades 2-3, this book would be an ideal addition to your collection.
I have seen other PETER & ERNESTO books before, but (for whatever reason) I hadn't read them. Oh, boy have missed out! PETER & ERNESTO: SLOTHS IN THE NIGHT by Graham Annable was adorably funny. Simple, engaging illustrations, expressive characters and a sweet, gentle story of friendship. I'm won over.
I will definitely be adding Peter & Ernesto to my school library. I know my students will enjoy reading about them and their adventures just as much as I did. P.S. Crossing fingers that a Peter & Ernesto series of picture books may be in the works.
Ahhhh. This early graphic novel is sooooo cute. Ernesto built a wind sock from some fabric Bernard gave him. But when he is ready to show it off, no one can find Bernard. So the hunt is on. Peter, Ernesto, and all their friends embark on a journey to find Bernard, and the new all powerful dragon. It will be a night full of fun and just a hint of danger. This is such a heartwarming story that is easy to grasp for young readers, or easy to read aloud for those not reading yet.
This book was adorable! Peter and Ernesto were both funny characters that will appeal to kids and there are several scientific facts thrown in about the animals of the rainforest that will appeal to parents.

This book was so creatively drawn and creatively written that I could not stop reading this. Peter and Ernesto is talked about throughout all of our library and now I see what the buzz is about. in Sloths in the Night, the clan is set out on an adventure to look for their friend Bernard. While searching, they come across a few characters but sense a few dangerous spots along the way. One thing after another trouble seems to find them making their time for finding Bernard minimizing. The search party continues with one catastrophe after another making the book more exciting. Our teen readers will love this book!
We will consider adding this title to our JGraphic Novel collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
Aww, another adorable Peter and Ernesto tale! On this adventure, one of the others goes missing! Ernesto suspects Bernard as gone to see a dragon that supposedly lives in a nearby temple. It's getting dark, and the jungle is no place for a sloth to be alone at night, so off they go to find the temple, the dragon, and hopefully, Bernard!
I love that Annable still maintains and highlights the differences between Peter and Ernesto but shows them continuing to be the best of friends. The lessons taught in this series are all very easy for younger children to understand. Delightful!
Peter & Ernesto are delightful sloths. They are very devoted to each other and, yet, very different. My media center patrons enjoy their escapades and I guarantee this latest addition will also fly off the shelves.
What's especially endearing about them is their friendship. Readers will be able to identify with that closeness even though they may not always agree on everything. The illustrations are vivid and entertaining and the dialogue sweet and humorous.
