What was it? Love or obsession? 'cause EVERYBODY in this book was obsessed. It would be a beautiful story if not the ending..... I didn't expect that- it disappointed me. Everything was going to romantic an entire book and suddenly the end is like out of another planet. But in general it was quite a good book.
Morgan certainly leans to the darker side. He embraces being a vampire and often seems to revel in his kills. With that in mind I’m going to list him with Phantom in Phantom of the Opera. A tortured soul who though he loves, love is not his salvation.
I started this book and just couldn't get into it. I am sad to say I didn't finish it. I don't like the cover, I didn't want to waste my time on it when there are so many other books that catch my interest from the beginning.
If Dorian Gray was a vampire concert pianist. What's not to like? I'm a huge fan of both Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray, vampires, forbidden love, AND playing the piano, so this book is a lot of fun. It definitely caught my interest right away, and now I have another series I'm going to have to keep reading. I need more book room! 😁
I wanted to like this book, I really did. Unfortunately, from page one the wording was so convoluted that I struggled to even decider what was happen. Add to that that no one now, even in books written to take place in the past speaks in such wordy dialect I swiftly lost interest. The wording killed this novel for me. Was it a good story, a good plot? I have no idea, because I flat out couldn't read it. I'm sorry to report myself a failure, but I had no desire to struggle through this novel for more than a few pages, because honestly it just wasn't worth it to Mel perhaps someone else will enjoy decifering this book, if so they are a far better person and reader than myself.
Sinners' Opera is the continuing story of Morgan Gabriel D’Arcy. I have not read any other books about Morgan and I am intrigued by his story, much like I was intrigued by the vampire Lestat. Morgan has been a vampire for hundreds of years and is obsessed with Isabeau, his creation. This book is how they interact with each other and the choices they make. The choices Morgan makes in regards to Isabeau I have a hard time with however, given his age and how long he has roamed the world I can understand his underhandedness. Do I like them together? Yes, absolutely. I am looking forward to reading the next in the series.
