What a fun read. Christi Barth always delivers endearing characters, going through unusual challenges, written in a humorous voice.

Sisters Kelsey and Mallory Wishner had dreamed about moving from their small Michigan town to Manhattan and had finally done it. Kelsey had her dream job as a graphic designer, working at home on her computer. One dream she never did have was to be a Disney Princess, but their unpacking was interrupted by a crowd of "hot men" at their door, headed by Elias Trebanti, Royal Protective Service of the tiny nation of Moncriano. It seems that when Kelsey applied for a part time teaching job, she needed to be fingerprinted and hers revealed her to be the missing princess, kidnapped when she was an infant. While Kelsey is skeptical, she agrees to go to Moncriano- but only if Mallory comes too.

From the start, Elias is drawn to this kind, funny warm, beautiful woman, sister of his best friend, and she to him, her protector. But she is not sure that she will even stay in Moncriano, as she was very happy with who she was before. And whether she stays or not, Elias being a commoner and her a princess is not a relationship that would be permitted in Moncriano and if she goes back to America he would not be able to come with her. But not to worry, they do get their HEA.

I absolutely adored this book and could not put it down! I can't wait for more from this series... I will be waiting on pin and needles!

It's been a while since I've read a good royal romance and Christi's debut novel had me glued to the page and I just loved everything about it

Kelsey and her sister have finally made their dream of moving to New York City a reality. Moving some a small town where they were pretty sheltered from the world outside of their home, taking in the sites and sounds of the big city is all that Kelsey ever wanted. Even if they have to live in an apartment that barely has room to move around in. So when the police show up at their door along with an amazingly gorgeous man who claims that Kelsey is the long lost princess from a small country near Italy and Greece, she's sure that someone is pranking her for a TV Show.

Turns out the handsome guy is her new bodyguard Elias. And she puts a lot of her trust in him. Elias sees how hard this all is to take in and becomes a safe haven for Kelsey as she starts to navigate this whole new world. The only problem is that there is a huge spark between the two of them. One that neither of them can really resist. As Elias grapples with whether to go with his heart or remain with his allegiance to the monarchy - Kelsey is trying to decide whether to go back to her old life or stay with the unknown and give her heart to the one man she can truly trust.

This would make the perfect movie for Netflix or Hallmark. I was giddy reading it from the first page to the last. I can't wait for more from Ms. Barth and more of the monarchy!

The Princess Problem
By: Christi Barth

*REVIEW* 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Like so many other girls, I loved The Princess Diaries when I was younger. Who wouldn't want to be a long lost princess? Kelsey is a charming character-just a girl suddenly deemed royalty-handling the situation as best she can. Thank goodness for hottie bodyguard, Elias, to help Kelsey through this royal maze. Together, these two are an adorable entertaining couple who you will root for all the way. I love the reminiscent vibe of this story and recommend for all the girls dreaming about just such a fairytale life.

What an interesting theme for a story, a long lost princess! I truly loved how Kelsie stayed true to herself and her humble lifestyle. She did not go crazy or develop an over the top princess attitude. She was so down to earth, concerned for others, and kinda self conscious. My favorite parts were when Elias would build her up, stop her from putting herself down, and making her comfortable with the whole situation. He saw the real Kelsie and helped her bloom in these circumstances. He was a wonderful man, although he did frustrate me in a couple of scenes that made me sad. I loved how their story ended and the family members reacted to their long lost family member. Definitely a fairy tale ending. Now I need Genny's love who can kinda tame her, but not completely; Christian's story which I am hoping will involve a certain female character.

Plucked from her life and moved to a foreign country, Kelsey is a normal teenager one morning and a shiny new Princess the next! Well, almost. The Princess Diaries has always been a dear movie to me and while this book had its differences, it was still cute. I thought the writing was good and the chemistry in the 'royal romance' was pretty fun, if not cliche. The story moved a little bit fast for my liking--there could have been a bit more to it? But hey, still enjoyable.

From Child Kidnapped to Steamy Fairytale Romance
Just about every little girl has a fantasy of becoming a princess, and at least half of those daydream that one day their “real” parents will come for them and whisk them off to some fairytale castle where they’ll meet their own Prince Charming. Kelsey never had this fantasy but it happens to her just the same, except instead her Prince Charming is her bodyguard Elias. Kelsey had her own fantasy of living an exciting life in NYC, but got whisked away all the same.

I loved the rapport between Kelsey and Elias; their dialogue and interactions were addictive and I couldn’t wait to see how their romance developed. The supporting characters were also very engaging, even the grumpy ones.

The story is written in third person, despite the synopsis provided. This is a standalone novel, but part of a series, so the mystery revealed here most likely won’t be totally resolved until the last book in the series. The only caution I’d like to share is that this story includes memories of what happened when Kelsey was kidnapped as an infant, which can be a trigger for some. I personally had nightmares since anything involving child endangerment doesn’t sit well with me. However, I didn’t count it against Ms. Barth in my rating since she handled the memory scenes quite well. I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be reading the next book in the series.

This piqued my interest and instantly reminded me of a grown up version of the Princess Diaries (which I loved back in the day!) and so had to ask for a copy.

I read it from start to finish and really enjoyed it overall. Mostly for Kelsey – I loved her optimism, big heart and her completely relatable jumble of conflicting emotions. It’s got to suck to find out you weren’t just adopted but kidnapped, that your real family is actually royalty and that having found you at last, you now have to leave the only life/family/country, you’ve ever known behind and try to fit into a role others have had a lifetime to prepare for.

To say Kelsey’s life was on shaky ground would be an understatement. It helped loads to have her very supportive (think personal cheerleader) older sister Mallory by her side. I loved their sister/best friend relationship and I am keeping my fingers crossed that Mallory will have her own story as leading lady soon! I felt a little tension between her and Christian but with how big these royals take social status into account that might be a huge no but still I’d love to see more of her.

Which brings me to the other huge selling point of this story. Elias. Big, sexy, honorable to a fault bodyguard and love interest. He provided so much of the angst in the story and it was done so well it really packed an emotional sucker punch for the reader. Knowing the how and the why behind Elias’ deep –think bottom of the ocean deep- reservations and feelings helps you really understand him and the type of person he is.

This is the first book by this author I’ve read but it won’t be the last. She created characters that were real and complex and likable – which isn’t always an easy thing to do. Although the story overall still left a lot of questions unanswered and the ending definitely felt a bit rushed, in the end I got the happy couple and the promise of more connected stories so I’m good. Genevieve is next, probably followed by Christian *fingers crossed* and Mallory (pretty please!)

The Princess Problem by Christi Barth is a slow burn that ignites with perfection as gloriously as the fireworks for the Queen’s Jubilee. There is nothing sweeter and more exciting than setting out to live your dreams and discovering that the life you imagined has to wait because you suddenly have what most little girls dream of but the one thing you can’t ever imagine. A world of yoga pants and denium are no match for the boutique gowns and designer shoes. Grab your scrunchies and get ready for a wardrobe change.

Cute story. A little predictable and has some similarities to another book in the same genre. The ending fel a bit rushed and there too many unanswered questions.

The Princess Problem by Christi Barth is a fun, unique, and sexy romance story. Kelsey and her sister finally were able to move to New York City after all there planning. One day Elias shows up at their door stating that Kelsey is the long lost princess of Moncriano. The princess was kidnapped twenty-five years ago when she was a baby. After much debating Kelsey and her sister agree to go to Moncriano and find out what is going on. Elias is part of Kelsey protection service. I really enjoyed this book, and I will be reading more by this author. If you enjoy a happy romance, give this book a try.

I’m very much torn in regards to this book. I loved Kelsey, her sister Mallory (although I think she needed a bit more development) and bodyguard Elias. The chemistry between Elias and Kelsey sparked quickly but still organically, considering the time spent together.
I have issues with the premise and the dumbing down of Kelsey and Mallory. While I realize they are from a small Mid-west town and were seemingly a bit over-protected...who gets on a plane to go to a country neither had heard of, on the say so of a unknown man (gorgeous though he was)?
While I know there’s protocols, Kelseys newly found family were tightly wound and a little too stiff upper lip to be drawn to. Although by the end, I liked the most unlikeable relative from the story’s beginning the most!
So, even with those issues, I still enjoyed the book and look forward to the next in the series. I’m thinking because it involves someone who grew up royal, there will be less explanation about the do’s and don’ts of palace living.

A really enjoyable story about Kelsey, a normal American woman who discovers she's actually a princess of a small European country.

Kelsey finds out she was kidnapped as an infant and her family and the royal protection team have been looking for her ever since. Leaving everything she knows behind, Kelsey agrees to spend two weeks in her new country with the royal family.

I thought the author did a really nice job with making Kelsey an easy character to connect with and the plot on the more realistic side. Everything isn't all sunshine and roses when she tries to connect with a family she's never known, adjust to royal life, and decide what her future plans should be. She also doesn't count on the mutual attraction between her and her bodyguard Elias.

The story was interesting and I really liked getting both Kelsey and Elias's perspectives. There were a few things I was surprised weren't addressed earlier, but then remembered the story takes place over only a couple weeks.

Christi Barth had written an absolute gem here! A book that had me somewhat nostalgic for the Princes Diaries in the best way. Kelsey has been living her whole life believing she's and American until one day Elias shows up claiming she is a lost princess. Many problems ensue include a dramatic love affair with her bodyguard. This book leaves you guessing as what Kelsey is going to do as she struggles to find her self in this new world. This book had laughs and tears and I can't wait to read more from this author.

Kelsey had been fingerprinted for her NY state driver's license but also as she wanted to get a part time job teaching. She and her sister Mallorey had saved up and now they had moved to NYC following their dreams. Mallory and kelsey had always been best friends. Kelsey worked from home and never had to dress up and was often in yoga pants. Manhattan was expensive to live in. As they were unpacking there was a knock at the door. Kelsey looked out the door and saw a bunch of hot menThen one of the men asked her if she was Kelsey Wishner and than told her he was Elias Trebanti and he was there on a mission for the royal family of Montiano The police will vouch that would verify his diplomatic credentials. Elias asked if he could come in to talk to her. Elias said he was in the Royal Protection. Kelsey said this was the wrong apartment there was nothing there for him to protect, but then he said her. He’s there for her. He told her she had been kidnapped when she was three months old. The royal family, the country, the world had been looking for her every since. Than Kelsey said and you happened to find me after twenty five years? He said after your fingerprints hit the data base an alarm went off at the palace. He was there to retrieve her . Her new life her with Mallory was all that mattered, not some fantastical story with no logical explanation.Elias reminded her she had a duty to her country and the people. Mallory said she would go with her. Elias was best friends with Prince Christian - Kelsey brother.
Elias father had been head of the Royal Protection and had been on duty when Kelsey was kidnapped. Elias had made it his mission to find Kelsey.
I enjoyed reading this book a lot. It was a light rquick read. A novella really. I loved the relationship between Kelsey and Mallory and how Mallory instantly assured Kelsey she would go with her. I felt this was well written. Elias and Kelsey had hot chemistry even though they were banned from dating. But for me- Elias and Kelsey’s romance went too fast. But I did like Elias and Kelsey together and cheered them on. At times I laughed out loud and other times choked up while reading this book. I was so glad Kelsey stood up for herself and refused to be anyone but herself. I liked the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it.

The Princess Problem is a royal romance about a young woman living in New York finding out that she is a princess. It sounds like my dream come true. It was a magical story that I could definitely picture seeing on Netflix.

Kelsey is a young woman living life in New York. When a man named Elias arrives at her door, he tells her that she is a princess and they have been looking for her since she was a little girl. Elias convinces her to travel to another country to meet 'the royals'.

Being told you are a princess sounds like a dream, but Kelsey wanted no part in it. She was happy living her life with her family and was still in a state of shock.

Elias is the royal guard to Kelsey's newfound brother and prince, Christian. He is kind and already knows he is going to have a special bond with her. He feels protective of her and will do whatever it takes to make sure she is safe.

I loved the chemistry and attraction between Kelsey and Elias. There was an added forbidden trope to this story because Elias is Christian's best friend. I think Kelsey needed a man like Elias in her life during this time. She needed a confidant and found that in Elias. As they spent more and more time with each other, they developed feelings for each other. They didn't plan on things being serious because Kelsey didn't know if she would be leaving the country and heading back to New York.

I really enjoyed this whole story. It was royal, it had great characters, and read like a romantic movie.

I give The Princess Problem 4.5 stars. I loved the royal aspect of this story so much and thought it was a fresh take on becoming a royal. I can't wait to read more from Christi Barth!!

Such a cute story. I loved watching Kelsey become a princess. Elias fought a little too much, but thank goodness Christian was such a good friend.

Enjoyable read. Can't wait for the next one.

Doesn’t every little girl dream of being a princess one day? Of being swept off her feet and whisked away to a castle and living her happily ever after with her dream prince? I know I did growing up. Seriously, who wouldn’t fall in love with Prince Charming?

But reality sure as heck isn’t anything like a dream. Just ask Kelsey. She’s identified as a long-lost European princess and whisked away to her potential new life—after finally living what was her dream life in New York City. Sure, it was only for a couple of days, but she knew she’d love NYC once she got used to it.

But now she’s in a foreign country. Meeting her family as an adult, independent woman—one raised to speak her mind. And it’s going to be a challenge trying to get to know her siblings, learn all the royal protocol and used to having no freedom of movement, bodyguards, and a wardrobe to die for.

Speaking of bodyguards. Elias is assigned to protect Kelsey—but who’s protecting Elias from falling in love with her? And she with him. It’s not allowed—and could become dangerous if he’s distracted from his duties. Did I say it’s also against the rules? But rules are made to be broken, right??

I really enjoyed the romance between Kelsey and Elias. Their attraction and connection felt real and deep. And their banter was fun and sexy. I totally connected with Elias and his worry over duty versus love—and the struggle he had.

The Princess Problem was a fun twist on royal romance and in the end, I was fully satisfied and happy with Elias and Kelsey’s HEA.

This is an interesting read. I enjoyed the reading and loved both Elias and Kelsey. They're such perfect characters and you won't be able to help yourself but fall in love with them.
Kelsey's life is changed all of a sudden when she finds out that she is a princess of some small country in Europe. Which might be every American's dream is a nightmare for her. She was happy in her life and was excited to start in a new city with her sister and now, she finds out that she has another family. A royal one at that. To make matters worse she feels attracted to her bodyguard. That goes against the protocols of being a princess.
Elias thinks his job will be easy. All he needs to do is find the lost princess, bring her home and keep her safe. He never thought that it would be so difficult to keep his hands to himself and not kiss her. She is unlike anyone he knows and he is having a hard time resisting her charm. After all, somethings can never be.
I think that this is a very well written story and has the right amount of humor and romance. I really enjoyed this charming tale about a princess and her bodyguard.

I was so surprised by how much I loved this book! After Kelsey and her sister finally achieve their dream of living in NYC, her world seems to crash around her when she finds out she is actually a princess that was kidnapped as a baby. Confused and hesitant, she agrees to travel to meet her family and get more information about what happened to her. Elias, the guard tasked with not only finding her but also bringing her home, has ties to her original kidnapping and while he’s attracted to her is unwilling to risk his family’s reputation. As Kelsey attempts to assimilate into life as a royal, she finds herself unable to bond or relate to her family and it pushes her more to spend time with who she’s comfortable with – Elias. This was my first book by Christi but it won’t be my last, especially since we get Genevieve’s book next! I really enjoyed her style of writing and the pace of the storyline, not to mention the plot! It was definitely a Hallmark movie but in book form and I couldn’t get enough!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Charming, & Entertaining! This story was well written, light in the drama department, was witty, cute, entertaining, and a pretty fun read for the most part, but sometimes low drama and angst and a whole lot of charm is just what you need. And with such great characters and a delightfully fun spin on a royal romance story this was a fun and quick read.

Kelsey and Mallory Wishner were finally officially residents of the most exciting city in the world. Manhattan. It had been a lifelong dream of theirs and they had finally scraped and saved enough to afford it. But before they were even done unpacking, Kelsey was speechless, when a handsome man with official documents arrived at her front door, informing her, she was the kidnapped princess of the House of Villani, the royal family of Moncrian. What young girl hasn’t wanted to be a Princess at one time or another? But this had to be a reality show? Right? No it’s not.

This is quite the fun ride as Kelsey and her sister Mallory are swept off to meet the Royal family. And what better way to enjoy the meet and greet but to start to have strong feelings for her handsome bodyguard? And maybe having a little fun on the side? Yes this is filled to the brim with laugh out loud moments, and stomach-flip, romantic times that will keep you reading into the night.
