Tea experts Theodosia Browning and Drayton Conneley are back, and are guests at an English themed bird hunt. Of course, it’s not long before Theodosia finds a corpse, that of host Reginald Doyle, shot dead in the neighbor’s lavender garden. Giving in to the pleas of his widow, Meredith, the tea duo agree to help and stay overnight; but in the middle of the night, the house is set afire. A missing daughter-in-law, a seance and more make this one of the liveliest books in this delightful, long-running series
