Single was one hell of a ride.

K. L. Slater introduces us to Darcy, a single mother who finds out the harsh truth about her husband, Joel, after he dies. While struggling to raise two kids on her own, she accepts help from Joel's parents and sister who adore her sons but despises the control they have over her life. One day, a local doctor, George, saves her asthmatic son's life and she falls head over heels for him. Their relationship is not approved of by Darcy's in-laws and neither by George's obsessive stalker who won't leave them alone. And thus begins a story that messes with your head; you won't be able to guess who's lying and who's telling the truth.

Single is told from the perspectives of many characters—switching from third person to first person occasionally, we gain insight into the thought processes and intentions of various secondary characters as well. Slater's writing is remarkable; she doesn't leave any clues as to what's coming next. There are a few chapters that seem to be unrelated to the main plot but in the end, everything starts to make sense. Even after most of the story is told, Slater plants a doubt in your mind and you once again find yourself struggling to tell the truth apart from the lies.

I absolutely enjoyed this book with all its twists and turns and its ability to baffle me. This is the first book of Slater's that I read but it won't be the last. I totally recommend this one!

Full of lies, stalking, cheating, deception and conspiracy - I didn’t know if I was coming or going!
With likeable and loathesble characters- I found myself almost shouting out loud at times!
Everything I love about a book was in these pages! Yet again I am left wanting the next one!!

Kim Slater can do no wrong for me, a fantastic author and all her books are brilliantly addictive. This was a well developed story line, great characters and an excellent ending which I never saw coming.

I can thoroughly recommend this book, well done Kim I look forward to your next masterpiece and thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

It took me a short while to get into this book, but then 8 was totally mesmerized. The writing was excellent and there really were twists and turns that were totally unexpected. When two widowed single parents meet and fall in love, there are bound to be complicating factors from their pasts but this pair of lovers have more baggage than most. For Darcy Hilton, mother of Kane and Harrison, it's her husband Joel's other woman, Daniela Frost who she only found about after he died and for Dr George Mortimor, father of Romy, it's his ex Opal Vardy. Darcy had a breakdown after Joel died and she found out about Daniela, but Joel's family were great, taking custody of the boys while she got better. Now she's concerned they're a bit too involved in her life and she still hasn't really got over Daniela. George is worried that his ex is stalking him and when strange things happen to Darcy, thinks Opal may be targeting her too.

Ms Slater writes some of the most twisty psychological thrillers and this one is pretty twisty with many a jaw-dropping surprise in the plot. Told in several voices, you'll start wondering if anyone is really who they seem to be.

Darcy's life has been difficult. Lucy for her she has her in laws to help her. They are great grandparents and enjoy watching her two sons. Especially now that their father has died.
When she meets George, she believes she has found love once again.
What she doesn't know is that there is a conspiracy between people she loves and trusts. They are planning on taking her sons away. Now her life hangs on a balance. Should she trust who she knows or those she doesn't?
Complex twists and turns. With a great surprise ending. Excellent!!

Another brilliant psychological thriller from the equally brilliant K.L. Slater!
Absolutely loads of twists and turns from start to finish!! I couldn't put it down. Mind tricks abound in this one.

REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 wow klslater does it again! I could have cried when I got an email from netgalley to say I was successful in getting a copy of Single for an honest review. This book absolutely did not disappoint! I was desperately trying to read with every free moment I had and even at the end I didn’t know what was going to happen. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a fast paced thriller. Also just in time to add to my October reads.

KL Slater knocks it out of the park with this novel by offering a narrative that is anything but ordinary for the genre. The book outright challenges the reader with all its moving parts. Narrative shifts, fluid plot lines, multidimensional characters. It is chocked full of lies, betrayal, and cleverly disguised truths. Not only was this book unexpected but it was a refreshing change of pace. Absolutely loved it. 5 stars!

this is this author is brilliant I started and could not stop reading what a story Darcy loses her husband Joel she has two young sons and she has a breakdown her inlaws get custody of the children they are so possessive .Darcy gets better and has her children back then one day in park she meets George who helps her son who has an ashma attack how this story unfolds is just brilliant,wont say no more but its a must read

Brilliant as usual from K L Slater . This was the latest in a long list that I have read and really enjoyed . This certainly did not disappoint . I was hooked from the beginning and read it far too late into the night . Darcy a single mother has her two boys at the park with her sister in law , when her youngest has a terrible asthma attack a dashing doctor comes to their aid . As Darcy and George get closer the secrets from their past threaten to destroy the relationship they are building . Darcy's in laws are scheming to get custody of their grandsons , Georges Ex is turning up and causing trouble and a woman that was having a relationship with Darcy's husband before he dies moves back to the area ….. Of course this is K L Slater so hardly anything is as it seems , there are twists after twists and the usual fast paced , exciting read . Yet another 5 star read .

I didn’t think it was possible for K.L Slater to outdo herself but she did exactly that! All I can say is wow! ‘Single’ had me thoroughly gripped throughout and each time I felt like I knew what was about to happen, the twists and turns would blow my assumptions out of the water! I also found the character development to be absolutely flawless with each character having such depth to them. If you’re looking for a fast paced, exciting and gripping psychological thriller then this is the one for you!

Another captivating psychological thriller by Ms Slater. Though I could guess the initial twist, the later ones were out of the blue. The author has very clever ways of pulling the wool over our eyes. 4.5 stars.

I'm a huge fan of K.L. Slater and had to read all her books as soon as they become available.
She has this fantastic skill of taking what seems to be ordinary situations and weaves a twisty story like to other.

Here we have Darcy, a single mom who lost her husband a couple of years earlier. She has two boys and would do anything for them. One day while playing one of the boys had an emergency and was saved by a doctor, George. George also happens to be a single parents and soon Darcy moves in with George.

This is when strange things starts happening and unsettling letters and packages start arriving at their home. George claims that his ex is a bit unstable and seems to be stalking him. But things are not adding up and soon Darcy realizes that the truth might put her safety and that of her boys in peril. Is George telling the truth? and what will Darcy do to protect her beloved boys? Enjoy yet another delicious thriller from this highly talented author.

I have only recently discovered K.L Slater and she is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. As soon as I see her name on a book, i have to have it as i know it will be nothing short of fabulous. She throws in so many twists and turns it's near impossible to choose who the culprit will be at the end.

I really enjoyed this book and enjoyed the mother bear protecting her Cubs at all costs. Really makes you think of the lengths you would go to, to protect your own children in the same situation.

I will look forward to reading more by K.L Slater in the future.

Another hit for K. L. Slater!

The best K.L. Slater novel yet! Darcy, a widow, has two sons, Kane and Harrison. They are both still in elementary school. The reader finds that Darcy is a widow - and there is a dark shadow over her late husband, Joel. Things were so poorly with Darcy after Joel passed that his fraternal grandparents had legal custody over the two boys. Darcy even spent time as an inpatient at Edge House Clinic. However, this all was 4 years ago and Darcy has her boys back and is still in touch with Joel's family. Maybe a little too much?

Darcy meets George, a surgeon, and their relationship moves fast. Perhaps too fast, as both Darcy and George have hidden pasts and secrets. We also find that Darcy is being closely watched by someone...

The characters in this story are so remarkable that they come alive. Darcy wants to be with George but for some reason her in-laws have their own ideas about their grandchildren.A great book - NOT to be missed.

HIGHLY recommend to all!

I am extremely excited to read Single by K.L. Slater which is coming to us in November! This author has a body of work that consistently receives four and five stars. Single will be the first book I have read by her and I am really thrilled to begin it today!

Every Kim Slater book is an absolute treat! This one is no exception; another fabulous story with great characters. She just gets better and better!

I didn’t think I would say it as I loved the last book, however KL Slater gets better with every new book that she releases.
This is the perfect psychological thriller that I couldn’t put down. It has lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing throughout.
It’s a fabulous read that’s very well written. I’d recommend it to anyone and is without doubt a 5 star read.

Wow, wow, wow! This completely gripped me right from the start and didn’t let go until I finished it in the early hours of this morning. I should know by now to expect bleary eyes the day after reading a K.L. Slater book. She thrashes you around the head with so many twists, turns and secrets that you have no choice but to keep reading as quickly as you can regardless of the time of night!
We immediately meet Darcy, who is obviously having some kind of breakdown after the death of her husband. The events that unfold have you doubting everyone and everything. Nothing is as it seems, but who can you trust? As the story develops, you see Darcy start to put her life back together and meet a new man, esteemed doctor, George. They have a lot in common and have a whirlwind romance. She seems to be getting her life back on track finally, but her ex’s family have other ideas.
I didn’t see any of the twists or surprises coming, and I knew I’d have to wait for the end for everything to be pieced together and to get all the answers. I was totally side-swiped and shocked by everything that was happening. The author certainly kept everything close to her chest and didn’t reveal anything until she was ready. This formula had me on the edge of my seat reading it; I didn’t know what direction any of it was going to go in, and I loved how it did end.
The main character, Darcy, was brilliantly written, you really warm to her straight away and want everything to work out for the best. After everything she has been through, she deserves happiness, but before she can get there, she had to navigate through some not so pleasant characters first. Nothing is as it seems, and the story was perfectly executed.
This is a perfect Psychological Thriller, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. A solid five-star read!
