A love story that is centred around any booklovers most favorite place...how could you go wrong?
Karen Kingsbury wove a story I fell in love with and still think about. I want to visit that bookstore and feel the magic within its four walls and shelves. Who wouldn't?

A Sweet read that was a surprise that I actually loved. Mainly because for the longest time Kingsbury has been a miss for me. But this was a change for her other books. And I enjoyed the books store setting.

This book was a short book, probably bordering a novella versus a novel. This makes it an easy introduction to Christian novels. It's nice for the beginner Christian novel reader since its not overwhelming with Bible verses and references. I personally felt it could've used more but its good to not have the reader feel "preached" at or overwhelmed. The characters are very connectable. I believe most people can connect to the "one that got away" feeling or the feeling of loss.

This was a sweet second chance romance but a bit too Hallmarky for my tastes. Everything tied up perfectly at the end. It was still an enjoyable read.
Many thanks to Simon & Schuster and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Highly recommend the author. Unfortunately, Life circumstances never gave us a moment to sit down and read.

These characters immediately felt familiar, like friends. And we certainly shared the love of books. I did feel the slant went a bit too far toward printed books and the opening note's comments against e-books were a bit much. Like a worship of books—which is too extreme. I love books too, but it’s story that captivates me. And e-books on e-readers are just as engaging and a lot more convenient.

That aside, I liked our main character and I felt for him as his family-owned bookstore faced closing after a flood. His dreams were suddenly on the chopping block and for the business to close meant he’d failed—fulfilling his father’s hateful words that he’d never amount to anything. He can’t let that happen, but he may not have a choice.

I liked that this book was a novella; it read fast. I like that it was set in late fall and winter, including Christmastime.

Over all, a sweet story about love, friendship, and second chances.

The Bridge had been sitting on my TBR for quite a long time because I was kind of avoiding Karen Kingsbury novels (still annoyed with the way the Baxter/Flannigan series ended)...but I finally got around to reading it and, while I didn't love The Bridge, it was better than I expected.

The story was cute; and, even though some parts were hard to believe, I did overall like it. I loved the bookstore aspect and there were some moments of intense emotion.

All in all, The Bridge was a good read.

*I received a complementary eBook copy of this book for my honest review. As always, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

This was my first introduction to enormously popular Karen Kingsbury. I found that the story touched all of the correct, slick, commercial notes. It made for a lovely, safe read. It didn't touch me deeply, to my core, but who's to say every book needs to do that? Most of the time, we read for entertainment and to escape our own life's difficulties. This book did that.

The Bridge was a wonderful story of people and how prayer can help us come together as a community. The Bridge was a hard book to put down once I started to read and it was definately a tear jerker, but a quick read and very easy to follow. If you need something not so heavy but with a powerful message, pick it up.
