Not good, not bad. But not.. really interesting either.
I was not too fan of the characters and their romance, sadly.
This book needs an illustrated cover. It's so good and that's what it deserves. There are so many really good contemporarys with illustrated covers, and this one needs one too!

Deana Birch is a rather new author to me since I’ve never read any of her books or heard of her before. Pinky Promises was a cute, adult contemporary romance story that I really enjoyed reading because of the pure, irresistible chemistry between Leyla and Adam. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from this book so it surprised me by how delightful the entire reading experience was. I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone who’s looking for something fun, quick, and easy to devour.

A lovely story with interesting characters, a bit of angst and suspense and twists that overall will make a great love story that overcomes past mistakes and hard decisions to take so they can find a way to be happy and in love.
I really enjoyed Deana Birch's PINKY PROMISES! Leyla was a refreshing heroine not looking for love but who has it fall into her lap. Adam and Leyla had inextinguishable chemistry and delicious banter and I enjoyed every moment of their story!
I have read several books lately with delightful couples, but Leyla and Adam really take the cake. Separately, they are amazingly enjoyable; but together they are simply adoreable!
I was at first a wee bit reluctant to read this book, considering that one of the two love interests was already in a relationship with another woman when it began. But that situation is quickly resolved (and later further explained) in a way that let him keep his Good Guy card intact. And Adam was pretty much an all around great guy, the kind that any woman would be lucky to date.
Leyla was completely different from anything he had ever experienced, from her New York accent to her brutal honesty. She was a quirky, down-to-earth, genuinely nice person, and just the breath of fresh air that Adam hadn't even known that he needed.
The pinky promises don't come in to play until about forty percent through the story, but they are a darling and very important part of the overall story. Which primarily centers around how these two deserving people find each other, then navigate the often perilous but always worth it, joys and pitfalls of a new, intense, meaningful, and ultimately rewarding relationship.
Pinky Promises is a well conceived novel with an amazing heroine. Yoga instructor Leyla Harraq kept me glued to each page, as her spunky New York City personality provided endless entertainment. Carpenter Adam Wallow is Leyla's landlord, and his kindness is beyond swoon worthy.
Leyla never thought she would call a small, coastal town in California home, but that's what happens when her friend Kara asks her to run her yoga studio while she is on maternity leave. Leyla loves performing yoga and teaching yoga, but earning a living as an instructor is quite difficult in NYC because there are so many yoginis. Temporarily relocating to Grover Beach is a bit daunting, however, working one job instead of three to make ends meet seems like a logical idea to Leyla.
Adam enjoys his quiet life on the beach, surrounded by good friends and riding the morning waves. He recently broke up with his girlfriend of ten years, after finding out she was cheating on him. As a result, he is quite vulnerable and unsure of his sexual talents. Working with wood helps keep him calm, and he loves creating beautiful things. He and Leyla share an instant chemistry which evolves into lust and love.
I enjoyed this story and the wonderfully written characters by author Deana Birch. Leyla is full of life, sexuality and energy. She is a dynamo both in and out of the bedroom. Adam is a romantic, and his thoughtfulness, good looks, and honesty is every woman's paradise. Unfortunately, their numerous steamy encounters became a bit repetitive. I am truly looking forward to reading more from Ms. Birch.

Leyla is from NYC and has all the sass to prove it. She ends up managing her friend's yoga studio while she's out on maternity leave. She makes a mistake when she meets her landlord Adam and has to find a way to apologize. Adam is just out of a relationship and isn't looking for another one. Leyla lets him know she would be perfect for a rebound as she doesn't plan to be in town long. This is a fun, sexy and great read. A feel good romance with heat.
I love a bit of banter in a romance book and this one had it by the bucket load! The witty comments and gestures between Adam and Leyla had me smiling from ear to ear.
Leyla find herself in a small town after temporarily moving from New York to run her friend Kara's yoga studio whilst she goes on maternity leave. Kara has got her a place to stay which happens to be in the building that hunky Adam, the carpenter, owns and lives in. They don't "get off" on exactly the right foot but that soon changes (pun intended)
Leyla is there for him to help him through his breakup with his long term girlfriend. She offers him a shoulder to cry on and so much more.
Loved the chemistry between these 2 you could feel it from the off. The ending was just 😍
This is the first Deana Brich book I've read and it won't be my last. I devoured this book in 24hrs I just didn't want to stop
Quotes (from ARC):
“How could I deny her anything? She’d restarted my heart and put my sex life into overdrive. And after all her confessions at sunrise? I was incapable of saying anything but yes to her.” (Adam)
“God, his lap was better than Disneyland.” (Leyla)
Characters that jump off the page, especially our totally idiosyncratic heroine, a mix of affection and kindness with a certain level of harshness, extremely tender and sweet manifestations of fondness and love paired with bold, rough, “animalistic” sex make “Pinky Promises” another unpredictable romantic journey by author Deana Birch.
Leyla and Adam are skin deep opposites but they’re similar in so many ways: their kindness and honesty, for example. Their chemistry is sizzling, palpable.
Leyla is so refreshing with her sexual confidence and all that spunkiness and teasing.
Adam is too good to be true, really; the permanent ass-checking in the beginning made him a truly realistic male character. It’s great to have a hero who is a skilled, creative carpenter.
The humor and affections/fondness between the leads are a part of themselves and their relationship as much as the crude language and the exploitation of sexuality.
Although an important dimension of the plot, in general the sex scenes didn’t grab my interest and I found the ending of the story a bit anti-climatic, even if appropriate.
I laughed so hard reading this book. What a feel good read! Adam and Leyla have chemistry that is off the charts. Their banter had me choking on my coffee.
Leyla offers to be the rebound for her landlord as she is only in town temporarily. What could go wrong?
I love Deana's writing style and humour. I couldn't put this book down and had a smile on my face the whole time.
I can't recommend this book enough. An author to watch for sure!
The story of Leyla and Adam
She is only in town for a few months, so surely there is no harm flirting with her new landlord - until she finds out he already has a girlfriend. But once he is single again where does that leave them, and what will happen when it is time for her to leave town?
A fun and entertaining read.
First book i have read by this author and looking forward to more
What a wonderful book! I've never read anything by this author before, but after this I will be checking out more of her work. I found this story believable (such a rarity in current romance novels) and it was interesting. Finally a hero that isn't a billionaire/alpha/dom and a heroine that isn't a doormat. Great work!
