Country Hearts by Cindi Madsen is the story of Jemma and Wyatt. I really liked their story. It was sweet and full of heart warning feelings. I was also very well written.
I don’t think that you can ever go wrong with a Hallmark book! Jemma and Wyatt were so sweet together and I was rooting for them the whole time! If you are looking for a lighthearted, sweet romance than this is definitely for you!
I'm normally a BIG fan of this author but this book was too saccharine and unrealistic for me, it was like the hero and heroine were pre-teens in how they interacted. I just wanted someone, anyone, to communicate like an adult. The hero Wyatt was emotionally unavailable and then at the end of the book, with the turn of a page, BAM, was so head over heels in love. It just didn't ring true. The heroine Jemma finally gained some substance towards the end of the book. Also, I wish the author would research the difference between a halter and a bridle, and research what a cowboy or farm labourer actually does day to day. I did enjoy some of the supporting characters.
You could tell that this was published by Hallmark because it really read like it. I don’t mean it in a bad way, but it’s not normally something I would read. I’m used to a lot more steam in my romance novels. While there is some romance here, it’s very light and they don’t even kiss until about 90% of the book. There were times I just wanted something to happen.
I had watched some Hallmark movies starring my favorite 90s TV heroines, but this was my first time reading a Hallmark publishing book. It is on brand. Squeaky clean enough for any age reader, the problems are nothing like the real world, the children are preternaturally well-behaved and empathetic, and you know there's an HEA for the couple before they even meet. For me, the writing lagged in places, and I didn't really relate to the characters, and I didn't need the lasagna recipe because I have the internet, but all in all, it was OK.
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for a digital ARC for the purpose of an unbiased review.
A sweet Country Romance, that was a fairly quick read. that was like reading a hallmark channel movie. So it was easy to predicate how the book was going to end. But it still didn't take a way from the enjoyment of the romance.
Just what my heart needed. A sweet hallmark like book. Looking forward to more from this author in the future.
I am particularly passionate about Hallmark films and now I am addicted to books.
Jemma started his activities with her left foot in her new home. After losing her boyfriend and job at the same time, she decides to venture into a temporary job in a school in a small country town.
What she didn't imagine was falling in love with the a cute horse, with the cowboy and his daughter and with everyone in this beautiful community. She mingles so well with everyone that she believes she has found the place of her dreams to call home.
A beautiful love story full of cute moments, fun kids and a beautiful ending.
5/5 stars
This was such a cute romance. I am looking forward to reading more from this author. I could definitely see this book being made into a hallmark movie.
This book was so good! I enjoyed each word on each page! Jemma is suffering from a dose of heart break and low confidence when she meets Mr. Cowboy, Wyatt, who is also struggling to cope with a huge heart break and the repercussions of a bad marriage. Wyatt's no nonsense, get to the point, realist attitude has kept him and his sweet fashionista daughter safe from heart break, but has it really allowed them to go on with their lives after his wife left for a city life instead of the country life he adores. Enter Jemma! A city girl trying to cope with finding herself, living in a new town with a new job, trying to just get by until she gets back to the city! Snakes, snow, and the students she loves, along with her new friends and her cowboy, break through her she'll and she starts to realize that something's are more precious than having a shopping center on every corner! A great story of love and love breaking down walls that people have built up around themselves!
I received a copy of the book for my honest and truthful opinion.
Grouchy Wyatt had no idea what was going to happen when he helped Jemma out of that ditch but falling for her was the last thing that he expected. Having been burned once before when his wife left him to go back to the city, this flighty city girl who also happens to be his daughter’s teacher makes him wary. But Jemma has a way of getting under his skin. And Bailey Rae too, finds the female figure she has been missing in her life. Soon Jemma realized that this short stint in a small country town has made her life a lot more interesting and maybe it is time to make a new life here. If only she could convince that stubborn cowboy.

Country Hearts by Cindi Madsen is a A Cowboy Romance from Hallmark Publishing, and my first book by this author. This book was easy to read and perfect for an escape from cold weather or the pandemic. I live in Colorado so that is another plus for me. I will reading more books by this author, I highly recommend this book if you enjoy romances.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This was such a sweet heartwarming story. It was a great escape from these trying times. Jenna and Wyatt were great characters and I loved the small town ambiance.
Many thanks to Hallmark Publishing and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
You will love this book. It is such a fantastic heart warming story. I will warn you that once you start it, you will not be able to put it down.
Mamma is the new city slicker teacher in town, but she is o my substitute until the regular teacher does back from maternity leave. Wyatt and his daughter live next door to Mamma. You can imagine the rest, or can you?
I highly recommend this book you will enjoy a nice clean read.
Thank you Hallmark Publishing and harlequin for allowing me to read this title for an honest review.
Sweet love story full of hope and love . Sexy, single cowboy Wyatt falls for his sweet neighbor and daughters teacher. Wyatt and Jemma are so sweet together and it takes Wyatt a little while to realize that Jemma is the one. And Bailey Rae is a breathe of fresh air thrown into the mix.
A Charming romance that brings the magic of cozy, romance from the Hallmark Channel into pages of a book. This is saccharine sweet- just how I like it!
Jemma loses her job in the city and takes a temporary teaching position in a tiny rural community. She rents a cottage on the outskirts of town where she meets her new neighbor, Wyatt and his sweet daughter Bailey. Jemma starts to fall in love with country life as well as Wyatt and Bailey. This position is only temporary - but could their love become more??
So, imagine yourself reading a Hallmark movie script. That’s basically the story here. Sweet, funny moments and squeaky clean. I’m a sucker for a single parent love story. Bailey was such a sweet character. I was missing the connection between Wyatt and Jemma - just seemed a little forced to me. But, overall a feel good romance!!
Charming Hearts is a charming romance that got me in all the feels. I love a single dad romance and this one checked all by boxes. If you want some laughs and a little swoon all wrapped in a Hallmark Channelesk book this one should do it.
Lighthearted, fun, sweet read. Just what you need when things are heavy. It’s definitely a Hallmark movie in print form, but I’m glad it wasn’t one I had already seen. Very much enjoyed this!
Country Hearts by Cindi Madsen is a sweet, country love story. The storyline was well paced, and I read the book in one sitting.
I enjoyed all of the characters in this story. Jemma had a wonderful sense of adventure, that I loved about her. She dealt with most of her challenges head on with a big dose of positivity. Wyatt was a sweetheart even with his harder exterior. His daughter Bailey Rae was the sweetest ball of energy, with a unique fashion sense. The meet cute between Jemma and Wyatt is perfect and memorable. Jemma then turns out to be Bailey Rae’s teacher, and their story goes on from there.
I enjoyed the picturesque country setting. Jemma’s “welcome” to the school would be my worst nightmare, but it had me laughing at its relatability. The coffee shop, with the fun drink names, was an added chuckle throughout the novel. The cowboy hats at the beginning of each chapter are a nice edition as well.
This story is perfect for anyone who loves the countryside, horses, and of course a Hallmark happily ever after.
Note: I did listen to a copy of the audiobook as well. The narration is well paced, voices are distinct and clear. It made for a very nice, easy listen.
I received an electronic advanced reader copy from Hallmark through Net Galley. Although, I did purchase my own edition of this story when it became available. Getting a free copy in no way influences my review. Thank you, Cindi Madsen, Hallmark, and NetGalley for a copy.
