Different length of poems. Really loved this book. Love the transitions and categories. Great for those who love the types of poems that are coming out today.

I don't normally do poetry or books written in any form of verse. However, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and read it in one sitting. I definitely had emotions as these were things I have experienced and felt. This book hit very close to home with emotions and I appreciated every little bit of this.

This is another book that deals with very tough topics. It also says things we as humans don't want to hear said to or about us. However, it does it in a way that helps build us up during relationships. It is meant to make you feel less alone and know that other people are going through the same crap as you.

I highly highly recommend this novel!

It really wasn't what I expected. I was looking forward to a book of poetry much like her first collection '2am thoughts' but was met more with short stories and prose. It isn't a bad collection but it isn't what I was looking for and the writing was nothing spectacular.

I don’t generally read poetry, however this collection was captivating. It was similar to being in a conversation with a friend.

If you want to discover or rediscover the feelings of your late teens this is the book for you!

I’m surprised! Nineteen is a mature and beautiful collection of poems about love and getting hurt. Not only that, but it also talks about healing your heart and moving forward with your life. It was written by Makenzie Campbell when she was only nineteen years old, hence the title.
I don’t usually read a lot of poetry but comparing to what I’ve read before, I would say this is probably my favorite collection of poems. I just love how mature the book is, despite it’s young feel. I identified with a lot of the things she talked about and went through herself. I would describe her writing style as a sweet, beautiful punch in the guts - well, if that’s even a thing. The author is clearly very talented with words if she wrote these poems at such a young age.
Other things I enjoyed: I liked how the chapters are divided into different places - because sometimes we associate memories and feelings to places; there were also a few beautiful, simple illustrations to go with the poems, but nothing overwhelming; and I love how personal the book felt!
I’m surprised, I really liked this one.

This is a moving collection of poetry all about love, life and moving on from past relationships. It's super relatable and heartfelt with some fantastic imagery depicted from the fewest of emotions of you read one new poetry collection this year, choose this one!

This is a poet to look out for in the coming years. Her words were thought provoking and emotionally intelligent. Makenzie Campbell is one to look for in the future of this genre.

I guess I was expecting poems that looked more like poems in format rather than prose. Some of the stuff was okay, but nothing too groundbreaking for me. I really wanted to enjoy this more than I did.

This is almost a letter to themselves. Whilst it can be hard for those to read the words within this book it helps people hold on to this earth a little longer and i think that is worthwhile.

I am never sure how to review a poetry collection. But I will say all of the poetry I have picked up has been modern and most I am not fond of and this one was very different.

I think this one covers alot. Just reading it I think you would feel it's mostly about love and loving someone else but I think it is alot more than that. I definitely felt there was self love, self discovery, growth, pain, hurt, heart break, friendship as well as love and much more within this book. Which I think most could relate to atleast something in this book.

Although I didnt necessarily enjoy all of this and I found some of the flow to be a bit confusing (may or may not be the poet's intent), I look back at the book and see all I had highlighted because I had felt some kind of emotion or connection and there is alot highlighted!

I found alot of it to be relatable and quite beautiful in some parts. So! my star rating is based off would I buy this book? Yes I would. I'd love to have a physical copy to re read and highlight the bits I loved.

This poetry book talks a lot about the journey to adulthood and how hard those paths could be. Mackenzie connects with her readers by providing examples from her life and relating those experiences to others. A part of the book has become attached to me and I would love to keep reading more of her work.

She provides her own path to self-love and learning that we can never know what happens in the future. We just have to look forward to it.

Nineteen is a beautiful collection of poetry written when the author was transitioning into adulthood. The words just flowed into one another and I related to so many of the individual poems. I haven’t read the authors debut but I will definitely be checking it out. The author has an amazing talent and I am hungry to read more.

This poetry collection was not very relatable for me. It felt awkward. I didn't feel swept away in it like I do when reading a great poetry book. This may be great for young readers, but not for me.

If there is one thing this book is packed with, it’s feeling. How the writer fills this book real angst, emotion and heartbreak is something that really does bare heavy through every line and the gradual story where the author finds happiness is so heartwarming and lovely to see bloom as the collection comes to its conclusion.

Throughout this book there are some really lovely poems, and some really nice short lines reminiscent of poets such as Rupi Kaur, so if you love her work this is a book perfect for you. It’s clear Campbell has an incredible way with words, and I wish in this book there was more of them however its quick pace and story really works here.

The structure is a little messy and I wish there was more to read here, but there are some beautiful words in this collection and the accompanying illustrations work perfectly with the writing and add to this book beautifully throughout. I think this is great reading for someone whose just beginning to read poetry and a collection that can be connected to for the young.

This was dark and so beautiful. I absolutely loved this!! My heart was racing and throbbing and I was left breathless.

I'm just going to start by being honest here. I don't read much poetry.... not because I don't care for it, or because it doesn't interest me..... but because it feels like you are reading something so personal. Something meant for a diary and not for anyone to consume.

That being said, maybe I'm not a good judge.

Nineteen isn't bad. But it wasn't for me, and that's totally ok!

The poems felt dark, and depressing, and had so much sorrow. Which, I suppose is exactly how these poems are supposed to be expressed.

But i'm not a dark, and depressed, and sorrow filled person. I'm happy, and joyous, and I tend to bounce back quickly.... maybe quicker than I should sometimes. So during this short book I felt like the words were bring me down.

I think this would be a great book for darker people, or people going through a dark period in their life. A great book for people who live on the lower end of the emotions in their day to day. And honestly I thought of a few friends who I think these would resonate with on a much deeper level then I could relate to them.

So although this wasn't a 5 star for me, I'm positive it will be a 5 star for others.

Nineteen is a beautiful collection of poetry and prose that takes us through various stages of life and love. Once I started reading I couldn't help but completely devour every word and finished the entire thing in under an hour. The writing is absolutely beautiful and so easy to get lost in.

This collection is divided into 6 headings. Under each heading the verses all flow together wonderfully to create a pace that is delightfully satisfying and incredibly smooth.

I absolutely love this collection; I would even say it's my favorite poetry collection that I've ever read. After finishing this collection I had to read more from this author so I got their other poetry collection 2am Thoughts. I'm excited to read more from this author.

Nineteen explores the poet’s experiences with love and relationships while growing up and confronting adulthood and the woman she is becoming.

I got access to this book, immediately downloaded it, and finished it within the hour. It was an emotional rollercoaster ride. I thought the decision not to have any titles or markers for the poems was interesting. Either making the poems very long ones that were housed under each section, or leaving them untitled.

While there was a definite flow through the collection, the distinctions between the sections weren't entirely clear to me. Some of the poems I connected much more to, others not at all, but that's the law of all poetry.

I look forward to reading more of Makenzie Campbell's work.
