So cute and fun!! Each page features a different death of Kenny and you have to figure out who dunnit based on the clues you are given. This would be a fun gift for a kid or young teenager. It kind of sucks that you can only really have fun with this once all the way through, but that’s the nature of books like this. Still worth it as a gift I would think, cause then they could just regift it to someone else! The book just keeps on giving if you think of it that way. Very enjoyable and fun!
I thought I was good at spotting little details, but it turns out I'm not. I'm really not.
Who Killed Kenny? gives the reader an illustration of the situation and some information. It is up to the reader to figure out who did the killing. As a mystery lover, I enjoyed trying to find all the little details that would lead me to the right conclusion. All the information needed to solve the mystery is there, you just have to find it.
I have to say, one of the best parts for me was the beginning. Before you even solve any murders, the characters let you know that this is all just for fun, and Kenny is not actually dead. In fact, they show you how they make it look like he is. It's one of those moments where the reader is being addressed by the characters and reassured that everything is alright.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Author: Alessandro "Pera" Perugini
Publisher: NBM Publishing
Publication Date: December 16th 2019
An interesting and unique little graphic novel/puzzle book hybrid.
The concept is fun and the puzzles put a smile on my face. Some of the solutions are a bit random and bizarre but I didn’t exactly come into this book and expecting logic or seriousness.
Good addition to any puzzles or graphic novel collection.
Thanks to the publisher Papercutz and Netgalley for this ARC.
I was lucky to receive a copy of Who Killed Kenny by Alessandro Perugini (AKA Pera) by Netgalley and it was Okay but I think it could of been way better. Who Killed Kenny is a Graphic Novel (if you can call it a novel) about a character called Kenny who always ends up dead and the reader has to guess who killed him or if it was murder or suicide. There are 45 cases to solve but I would of preferred that being halved and a more of a backstory was introduced like in the first murder. On the whole I did like the art style of Peru so I am giving it 2 stars
Must-try.
Definitely try it. I highly recommend this. I love this comic. It’s so fun. I was trying to guess the murderers and laughed my head off when I used to fail. It was awesome. I was so happy. I started reading other books again and I am happy that I pushed myself out of my comfort zone.
Trying to guess those murderers were very fun and nice but 2-3 pages were blackened and I couldn’t see anything but I enjoyed a lot. The graphics were beautiful, the characters were very interesting. The writings were clear and everything was so good. It was a short and sweet book. I adored the book and everything. I hope they fix that tiny problem.
I highly recommend this to all and everyone who likes reading comics and also those who don’t you should really try this. It’s awesome. It deserves a really good amount of book club discussion.
Thanks to the publishers for sharing this one. It's an interesting idea, and the puzzles are fun to do. My full review appears on Weekend Notes.
This was a fun comic, you literally get to guess Who Killed Kenny. Then in the next page you would see if would were correct. There were a few, that the only way you could've known who did was if you had written the thing yourself, so you know, not fair.
I had never heard of this IG account but will be looking for it now. Who Killed Kenny is a series of one page puzzles in which Kenny is shot, stabbed, bludgeoned etc and you look for the “ clues” to determine who did it? The answers are on the following page and some of them are a bit of a stretch but it’s a fun way to pass time on a car ride or with a kid. I don’t know that this is a book that you would look at more than once or twice though - once the puzzle is solved there is not much left.
Thank you to #netgalley and #papercutz for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. This is available on November 15 and would make a great stocking stuffer it addition to the long car rides on the way to grandmas.
Who Killed Kenny? That is the mystery you are trying to solve repeatedly while reading this graphic novel. Every page has Kenny murdered in some bizarre way, and then apparently coming back to life to be murdered again. You really have to look at the pictures for clues to solve the mysteries, which are unique and funny. A book for those armchair detectives who enjoy puzzles and paying attention to details.
Who Killed Kenny? features a series of mysteries told through a simple comic of a murder scene with Kenny as the perpetual murder victim and it's your job to solve the homicide. This was so amusing and addictive- I had so much fun trying to guess the killer (though I quickly realized how BAD a detective I'd be!) The clues are a bit nit-picky but once you get the hang of it, solving the mysteries gets way easier. Fun, morbidly interesting, with some logical reasoning required.

For an honest review, I was given a copy of "Who Killed Kenny?" by author Alessandro Perugini. #WhoKilledKenny #NetGalley
This fun little whodunit comic is a delight for adults! Each page has a comic with Kenny, our victim of murder or suicide. The picture drawn in each comic box is a quiz with clues. It is your job to find out if you are a Pera Detective or an Agent!
For someone who never heard of Pera or the Insta account Who Killed Kenny?, I was intrigued when I saw this book. Its cute, a quick read, something good for a car trip or a lazy Sunday afternoon. I read through it on my phone with my kids, they enjoyed it also.
Some of the solutions were incredibly nitpicky, which was frustrating, but overall an enjoyable read. Also, following the IG account for more.
**I received this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Riffing off the Kenny character from South Park that gets violently killed off as often as possible, this unofficial tie-in is apparently a thing online, where a single page comic set-up is enough to let you complete the multiple choice of who killed Kenny. It takes a bit to get into the logic of these, but on the whole they're pretty simple when you know how. So this isn't too bad, but the book does beg the question of how often people would turn to it – answer, never more than once. So yes the contents of the web pages do need to be monetised, but the online format would strike me as the better one. Three and a half stars.
Fellow 1st grade detective here. (I was 27 points away from Pera!) I absolutely loved this book! In fact, once it is published I plan on getting a copy for my husband for his Christmas stocking. The book really has me thinking at times. Sometimes the answer is obvious, other times murders are made to look as though someone is guilty who isn’t. I cannot wait for more cases to be published.
I would also LOVE to see something similar to this that is more school and kid friendly. I’d love to get my students thinking critically through fun and comics. :)
