This was a really fun read and a fun way to experience Europe via the written word. I loved Barker's writing style as well as the characters.

I enjoyed every second of this book. A 2 week jaunt around Europe was exactly what I needed as well. I truly enjoyed Sandy Barker's descriptive writing style and I think we can all slightly relate to Cat. By the end of the book, I wanted to go on this trip, with these characters, eat this food, see these sites. Just fantastic 4.5 stars.

The year was 2020 and Covid was at its peak. As I moved halfway across the country, I did what any bookstagrammer would do- saw a reading window and requested way too many advanced copies of books. Thus creating the massive NetGalley tbr pile I’m still trying to dig myself out from under. Up next on my #NetGalleyBacklist is “That Night in Paris” by Sandy Barker.

In “That Night in Paris” we join Cat Parsons as she flees her apartment after a poorly decided hookup with a roommate. Instead of dealing with the mistake head-on, Cat hops on a last minute European bus tour. Along the way Cat makes new friends, eats great food, and she might even open herself up to love.

This was such a fun read! Cat and her friends get to tour all over Europe, which for me felt like the dream. Each character is running from some part of their world and together they are able to commiserate and talk through their problems, each finding wisdom from the others. I loved the character development for everyone from the beginning to the end.

In the end, this book was a solid 3 star romance read for me. Some of the descriptions Cat uses for the romance were a little awkward and most of the plot points were predictable, but if you dream of a European getaway with a little splash of romance, this one is definitely for you!

Thanks to One More Chapter and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

That Night in Paris is a captivating read by Sandy Barker that I highly recommend to readers looking for a funny and heartfelt story.

The book follows Cat Parsons, a young woman on the run from a ten year-long streak of singlehood who embarks on a two-week bus tour around Europe. Little does she realise that the first stop of the tour is Paris, the city of love itself.

The characters in this story are truly endearing, from Cat herself, to the eclectic group of fellow travelers she meets along the way. Through them, readers get to explore the different facets of relationships, with their individual trials, tribulations and joys.

Sandy Barker does an amazing job of showcasing the beauty of Europe’s romantic cities, whilst exploring the main theme of the book - love. From the forbidden glances in Venice to the streets of Rome at dusk, Barker manages to convey the overwhelming feelings of emotion which accompany such powerful sights.

I definitely recommend That Night in Paris to any fans of Samantha Parks, Alex Brown or Mandy Baggot. It’s an entertaining and refreshing take on love and friendship that I’m sure readers will enjoy!

An okay book, I feel it had much more potential than it actually had. The characters felt a little immature for me and whilst I did enjoy the book to an extent it probably won't stay in my thoughts for too long.

This book was fine, but it wasn't amazing. I think I expected more from a book about such a vibrant city but I was slightly let down.

I thought Cat was a little too immature to enjoy and it did affect my enjoyment of the book overall.

It's really hard for me to actually laugh out loud at a book, and this one definitely made me laugh out loud! I really enjoyed every single word of this book and would definitely re-read it.

I really wanted to enjoy this book because it had potential. However, I found it so difficult to read and really didn't enjoy it. the main character was extremely annoying and quite immature. The writing was awful and felt staggered. Definitely not a book that was a quick easy read.

I really enjoyed this fun romance! I loved revisiting many of the European cities I’ve visited, the descriptions made me want to travel again! The characters were likable and quirky, and the plot was well paced. I’m looking forward to reading more books in the series.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Oh I loved this book! You can't help but enjoy books by this author, they are such good fun and sometimes a tug at the heart strings too, but not too much.
With uncomplicated descriptions of Paris and all it's beauty, you could almost be there, or for me, be back there.
What an uplifting read, just what we all need!

I loved this book, it included so many fabulous locations and in the current circumstances the ability to escape somewhere else is most welcome, especially when the delights of Paris and Rome, to name a few, are at your fingertips. The travel writing was excellent and complimented the romantic undercurrents beautifully. Also if you're a foodie expect to be drooling at the gorgeous delicacies sampled along the way. I haven't read the first book in this trilogy yet, but I'm not sure it matters as this was a fantastic standalone. I will, however, being read book one as soon as I can.

I knew as soon as I saw the cover that I was going to love this book! I love Sandy’s writing and her amazing characters. She always has feisty no-nonsense leads who know their own minds and this one was no different. The first book in this series was exceptional and what a follow-up! This one didn’t disappoint. It was the perfect way to travel round Europe at a time when we weren’t even allowed to leave the house! This should definitely be on your summer reading list!

I really enjoyed this book from the beginning. It was full of great characters and loved traveling stories. Any book that takes me to places I've been to or haven't, always gives me something. Either brings memories back or makes me want to travel more. Exactly what this book did to me.

This had potential, but the main character is just too immature and annoying. And still, I probably could've dealt with that, if the story and the writing had been better. But this read more like a travel guide than a romance novel at times, and that sapped any remaining joy I could've felt while reading this book.

Seriously though, she's supposed to be in her thirties and she acts like a teenager. Romance readers deserve better main characters.

So wanted the main character to find her happy ending with the boy from back when. Nice locations, easy read.

This was a cute story! I found it to be just okay! the pace was a bit slow for my liking, and I just wasn't able to connect with the characters as much as I would've liked.

I greatly enjoyed this book, thank you for giving me a preview copy. The plot was interesting and fast paced and I sympathised with the characters. This is the first novel I have read by this author but I hope it will not be the last!

From the title, you might be forgiven for thinking this is a romance set in Paris. What you get, however, is a bus tour around Europe with a cast of unforgettable characters. I must say, I enjoyed Cat's developing relationships with her bus mates just as much as that with the delicious Jean-Luc.
This is just the right pick-me-up for our times and I enjoyed visiting various cities vicariously, some I know well and miss terribly, others I look forward to visiting perhaps one day. One thing is for sure, after seeing the tacky accommodation I won't be going on a bus tour though.
Funny, easy to read and pure escapism - add this one to your happy list.
