Charlotte has the perfect life, a loving husband and daughter but she is consumed by worry and fear. When her brother Rocco introduces the family to his new girlfriend, Charlotte is certain she is not who she says she is. While Charlotte is not Ruth’s biggest fan she tries to be supportive of her brother, until her daughter Daisy disappears. Will Charlotte find her daughter before it is too late?

Bell has written a complex story that dramatically intertwines the lives of two women.i wanted to enjoy this book but I found all of the main characters to be unlikeable and the supporting characters to be two-deminsional. The story concept was intriguing but I was not completely sure why Ruth targeted Charlotte and her family and I found the conclusion to be a bit of a let down. While a vague, open-ended conclusion can make the reader consider the characters past what the author puts down on the page, this story felt incomplete with very little resolution.

Something She’s Not Telling Us, is full of lies and half truths and deep suspicions. A seeming charmed Charlotte is protecting a childhood secret that almost cost her brother his life. Her brother Rocco is recovering from demons that have trailed him from that incident. And Daisy their daughter is smart and slight and asthmatic, a fact that makes Charlotte overprotective and vigilant. Into their lives comes Ruth, the latest of her brother’s girlfriends a bit too eager and possessive. Her arrival puts Charlotte on alert but she feels she is powerless with only her intuition as reason for her distrust of Ruth and her tireless need to fit in and belong. Not your usual psychological thriller in that each primary character has a chance to give their side of the events that lead to the final reveal. The day Ruth “signs Daisy” out of school starts a nightmare that bit by bit unravels the lives of Rocco, Charlotte, and Ruth’s true identity comes to light. Happy reading

Is anyone ever really who they say they are? I loved A Simple Favor and this one had me hooked right after the first chapter! Darcey Bell really knows how to write fast-paced stories. If you enjoy a good psychological suspense, I highly recommend checking this one out in April 2020! Thanks to NetGalley for the Advance E-Proof! @netgalley @harperperennial

It was fast-paced and interesting. However, by the middle, it got a bit ridiculous and unbelievable.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

Fast paced and entertaining. Became unrealistic as it went on which is one of my least favorite qualities in suspense/thrillers but I would give it 3 stars for entertainment value.

2.5 but upped for writing and pace

Wasn’t sure how I would like this one. I haven’t read anything by this author but I did see the movie “A Simple Favor” which I thought it was entertaining, but ridiculous, not a bad thing for a movie though.

This was not bad. The writing and characters are there. But, always the but, nobody is likable. Unfortunately,
they aren’t horrible though but they aren’t exciting either.

I wanted more. That’s the bottom line. The ending was lackluster and the characters were drippy. It wasn’t bad by any means but it could have been so good.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and HarperCollins Publishers for a copy in exchange for a review

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC for my honest opinion.

I had a bit of difficulty with this book. It felt a bit lagging and I could not relate to any of the characters. I didn’t like any of them. Charlotte felt extremely neurotic and drove me crazy.. I don’t feel that the characters were fleshed out as well as they could have been.

This was an ok read but I don’t think I would recommend it to friends.

A domestic thriller about what can happen when a new member of the family will do anything to please the people who welcome her into their happy, successful, picture book lives - especially Daisy, the delightful little niece of her boyfriend Rocco. Daisy's mother isn't all that keen on her, though, not even after she grudgingly agrees to let Ruth join their family vacation in Mexico. And after a while, Rocco's affections seem to wane, too it could be that they're all misjudgng Ruth. Except Daisy, of course Or it could be that they've got her all figured out. The denouement is suitably dramatic, the creepiness factor is moderate to severe, and the plot is paper thin, if somewhat involving.

Plot was interesting but I couldn't relate to any of the characters. The ending fell flat and if there's one takeaway from this one, it'd be to give this one a pass unless you have nothing else to read!

I had high hopes from this book based on the excerpt but it did not live up those. The plot is not well sketched, the characters are not relatable and you cant associate with their emotions. The ending was disappointing too. I'd give this a miss.

This book was honestly terrifying and there were so many twists and turns I didn’t expect. I shouldn’t have expected anything less from Bell, but wow did this book really get me. I wish we’d have learned a little more in the ending, but overall, I really really enjoyed this book. I read it in one sitting!

The cover is what initially attracted me to the book. Unfortunately, the book fell a bit flat for me. The characters seemed a bit sketchy. ,

This novel uses a device I usually hate. The first chapter starts with a bang with a missing child and frantic parents. The next chapter takes place weeks earlier and builds up slowly, giving the reader family history in dibs and dabs. You have to read all the way to the end to get back to the beginning. This one kept me turning pages.
The story is told in alternating viewpoints. It starts with Charlotte's story. She has her own successful business and is happily married to Eli, who is also successful and well-off. Their daughter, Daisy, is a bright and cheerful five-year-old. Charlotte has a brother, Rocco, who has a history of picking disastrous girlfriends. When he brings Ruth to meet Charlotte and Eli, they are at first a bit wary. But Ruth is charming and friendly and seems to be just the girl Rocco needs. Parts of the story are told from Ruth's viewpoint. She's trying very hard to make a good impression on Rocco's family, but she's also a little envious of Charlotte's succcess and her "perfect" life.
The "She" in the title could be Ruth. Or it could be Charlotte.
The ending fell flat for me, that's why four stars instead of five

Compulsively readable, but sadly petered out at the end. Still a thriller worth the read. Characters not really likeable, but interesting enough. I would have liked more backstory from Ruth, particularly about her alleged time with the baroness.

I loved this unique story line. Impossible to put this one down, I was turning pages late into the night because I couldn’t stop reading. Highly recommend.

Everything and everybody was so sketchy from the beginning. The more the story continues, I could not stop. It was just so ott. I wanted to know what was going on and how it was going to turn out. Instead it just fell flat for me. It was odd how it all played out in the end.

I could not get into this book at all. There was a lack of connection with either main character, a lack of caring what happened to their story, and also a lack of understanding exactly what this story was about. It was not my favorite writing style and I'm sorry I couldn't enjoy it more.

This was a creepy story - in a good way! Great characters and plot. We’ve all been in situations where we knew something was off but couldn’t pin down exactly what. That’s what happens I’m this entertaining story.
