This is a fun, colorful book that would be great for all caregivers to try to see if it sparks an interest in their child. Children who aren't naturally interested in the sciences may not demand re-reads, but science-minded children will enjoy this as a jumping off point for their dive into the sciences.

The other books in the series also look appealing.

Thank you NetGalley for an advance copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest review. I purchased a copy for my library.

This cute educational book will give your toddler/s a head start on everything science, from astronomy to zoology!

My First 100 Science Words has bright and colorful illustrations with simple smiley faces added to nearly every illustration to make them extra friendly and interesting for little listeners.

This fun book is grouped into categories that include physics, biology, geography, astronomy, chemistry, sociology, geology, ecology, thermodynamics, zoology, medicine, and climate. Each of these categories includes a handful or more words paired with illustrations to help littles recognize and understand science.

It's never too early to learn! If you're looking for vocabulary-boosting books, look no further!

Great little first words book about science. This appealed to me both as a parent and as someone who's studied science in the past. I know this will appeal to my eldest son, who's 4 years old, in particular.

~ Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this title ~

Do you have an aspiring scientist in your life? Then this is the perfect book.

Bright, eye catching pictures that will grab your children’s attention. It provides a range of areas including geology, chemistry and physics.Although there isn’t a detailed description of each word it would open up the opportunity for further discussion and exploration.

I am a huge proponent of using appropriate academic language with children! The pictures are bright and engaging, and I could answer some of my child's questions about the scientific concepts. I loved that this book included various branches of science - physics, biology, geography, astronomy, chemistry, sociology, geology, ecology, thermodynamics, zoology, medicine, and climate were all represented. The illustrations were also diverse, featuring male and female presenting people with various skin tones as scientists and professionals. I wish it had a companion book with more detail and definitions for the words featured - I could definitely explain most, but not all of the illustrations, and I would rather present accurate information than just what I think and remember from high school and college science classes. Overall, very well done.
I received a digital ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

As a mom of a toddler, I find this book to be absolutely delightful! We are learning all sorts of words - and this title is perfect for teaching science in a cute way. I love how everything had a smiley face.
This (and others forthcoming in the series) is a book I am happy to purchase for my daughter and even give as gifts.

Chris Ferrie is sure making a name for himself in children’s literature. I have been seeing his name all over the place when it comes to making great children’s books that focus on teaching science to young readers.

In my research of Chris, I learned that he is a quantum physicist by day and children’s author by night. He is always the busy father of four adorable kiddos. On top of having an extremely busy life, he has managed to write over 20+ science-based children’s books science 2013. Holy cow!

Chris's newest book, My First 100 Science Words, is the perfect science dictionary for the youngest readers in your family. The book is simple and organized by different science categories.

My favorite part of the book has to be the simple, yet adorable, images provided by illustrator, Lindsay Dale-Scott. They are baby-friendly, and you will be sure to love them just as much as your budding scientist.

Be prepared to need more than a hundred words to explain what's in here. If you happen to know your youngster is a visual learner they will certainly find this book helpful for some period of time, as it will provide a kick to the memory with its simple and understandable little icons. You get a hundred words (with some extras thrown in for free in brackets) covering the whole gamut of science, from space to sociology to climate change and ecosystems. But the tutor or parent will, before these designs become established and trigger the idea in the pupil's mind, have to explain what is actually happening. For force, they'll need to know all about what's happening to the two dangling masses, which, because everything here is given a smiley face if at all possible, seems to be not at all connected to gravity. For astronomical phases, they'll need to know it relates to more than the one planetary body we see here. And for cohesion we'll all need to know why it's got some blobs on a leaf. Me, neither. So put the work in and this will create a chance for many things to stick around mentally, but beware this is not a self-contained learning tool, more a series of visual stimuli.

This is a cute little brightly illustrated book with 100 science words illustrated and grouped by general category. The art is darling and does a pretty good job of simply showing what each word means, though babies/kids will obviously not understand some words like cohesion just based on a smiling leaf cartoon with two water droplets on it.

The author is the author of the popular and slightly gimmicky science for babies board books (astrophysics for babies and such), and he got a great deal in publishing this book because there are no explanations at all so his job was apparently simply to come up with 100 words that have to do with science, and he'll make a killing off this book because it is so well illustrated. The illustrator is the real star here, for really happy little illustrations that are engaging and surprisingly educational.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.
