I LOVED this book. The story is wonderful and I can not wait to see the finished illustrations. I ended up reading this to my kids (10 and 18) and they both loved it! Super cute story and I loved the history/facts at the back of the book. So excited to get this book in stock so I can slap my "Staff Pick" sticker on it. 5stars for this wonderful/educational book.
This adorable book would be perfect for any classroom learning about space! I teach 5th and I would definitely use it. My students would still enjoy it. I really liked the fact pages included at the end of the book.
This book focuses on the planet Mars. He’s lonely and wants a friend to play with! He asks his dad, the sun, and his brother and sister planets, but they are all busy. One day he gets his wish when two rovers arrive!
Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Very colorful and creatively written storybook about the planet Mars looking for a playmate and finding it with the rovers sent from earth. Interesting way to explain the different characteristics of each planet and the importance of our exploration on planet Mars. Creative way to get kids interested in space exploration.
Hill's previous book, "Moon's First Friends," is so popular in my Media Center. Undoubtedly, this book will also be in demand.
Mars is so lonely and wants a playmate. The dialogue is so clever and its numerous puns and humor make the book even more endearing. While the young readers are entranced by the illustrations, they are also learning about their solar system and the planets in a stimulating manner.
The universal message of inclusiveness and friendship are also defined. The afterword is especially enlightening and the in-depth discussion of the Rovers offer much insight into space.
