This was the first book I’ve read by this author but I was drawn in by the drama of the doctor vs the police officer. Dr. Dylan Carlyle is determined to watch out for her patient whether he’s innocent or a criminal. Finley Masters is determined to get the answers she needs to avenge her partner’s shooting no matter who she has to steam roll to get them. The chemistry between these two was off the charts from the beginning & seemed to just get more intense. Both characters had emotional issues rooted in their pasts that they had to overcome before they could find happiness.

I really enjoyed the characters & the way they all intertwined within the plot. The style of writing drew you in from the beginning & kept you intensely reading until the end. I felt this can easily be read as a stand alone. I didn’t feel I missed anything by not reading the books in order.

I have enjoyed the previous books in the series and this one did not disappoint. Although it is possible to read as a standalone but what I believe will be missing is the reader's understanding of the secondary characters and why they were doing what they were doing.

The focus is on Dylan Carlyle, the youngest of the sisters (Bennett and Jazz). Dylan is an ER doctor and not interested in dating a person in law enforcement. That is, until she encounters Police Officer want to be Detective, Finley Masters. Finley is in pain and not interested in relationships. What I appreciated the most was the focus on family, family meals, friends, friendship, romance, and support through difficult times. There was also the educational component relating to police procedure which in my opinion is a good thing because it is one of the reasons I read.

Another in a long line of romances in the same town with the same family. You will enjoy this simple sweet hot story if you have realistic expectations. You will not get an extremely deep or imaginative story, just another easy breezy story to get through.

Another engrossing read from V K Powell, this time featuring the Carlyle family with 2 cops, 1 firefighter, 1 Dr and 2 matriarch's. They are loving, close and funny. The story features the youngest Carlyle Dylan the Dr who begins to be attracted to butch cop Finlay, Dylan is scared of loving someone how puts their life on the line especially after the death of her father and grandfather in the line of duty. So the usual will she, won't she has a painful twist and is dealt with sensitively. Thoroughly enjoyable.

This is the third book in the Fairview Police Station series, you can read this as a stand-alone book. It would be nicer too read the other books first, just so you have some of the backstory, but it isn’t necessary.
This book tells the story of the youngest sibling in the Carlyle family, Dylan, and police officer Finlay. Finlay’s bosses are Dylan’s sisters Ben and Jazz. Dylan has vowed never to have a relationship of any sorts with someone on the police force. Finlay is a play girl who doesn’t settle down or let herself feel anything. When there is a shooting at a family event at the police station people bond and things happen.
Will Dylan and Finlay be able to put aside their own reservation and let the other in, or are they just not meant to be?

I liked this read, it is a slow building romance, with lots of family involvement en some medical en police drama in there, exactly my kind of Sunday read.

This author is managing to create a good string of novels starring first responders, most of her books are standalones but this is part of a series that features the Carlyle family, the third one up until now. The Carlyle family, whose members include the mother and grandmother, both widows of police officers killed in an act of service, a son who is a firefighter, two daughters who are police officers and the little one, Dylan, an emergency medical specialist, who works in the hospital in the city where everyone lives. As a reminder in case you don't know them, the previous two books in this series are Capitain's Choice and Second in Command, starring the other two sisters of the family, Bennett and Jazz. Nor is it essential to have read them in order to fully understand this, but they are complementary to each other.

Dylan, the youngest daughter who has not followed in her sister's footsteps, is the new doctor in the hospital's ER, she made a decision to never date cops, since in her family there has already been enough drama about the losses of loved ones in an act of sevice and she is not willing to go through that. But he has not yet met Finley, a police officer who is reluctant to compromise due to his family history and who has a reputation as a player when it comes to relationships. And their first meeting is in an awkward position, but leaves the two women intrigued with each other.

The story has a bit of everything, strong women, tormented and passionate, a bit of drama, a bit of misunderstanding, a bit of action and some sexual tension. For me it has been quite good as a whole, not perfect but, as I am very partial towards books starring first responders, give me at any time a story with cops, docs, firefighters, and I'll be a happy woman. If this is what you like too, this book will not disappoint you.

I’m received this Arc book by the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.
I love stories involving police officers..maybe because my wife is one and so I see so much of her in the characters.
This was a fun read by VK Powell and is part of a series but fine to read as a stand-alone.
So one of the main characters is Dr. Dylan Carlyle. She’s a dedicated Doctor and comes from a family of Police Officers. She loves her family but it’s taught her to never date a cop. That’s where Officer Finley Masters comes in. She’s caught in a compromising position and Dylan knows she should stay far away from her. She’s a cop and a player, two things she has no time for. Unfortunately Dylan finds herself attracted to her and well the heart wants what it wants. For Finley what she thought would be a fun fling becomes so much more.
I love how the story involves the whole family dynamic and of course who doesn’t love a very happy ending that ties it all in.

Line of Duty is worth reading. Finley and Dylan are the two main characters, with a fast plot that takes place with a Finley’s family the book is action packed, plus delves into the emotional world of law enforcement. This book will appeal to many readers of romance and action genres.

This is the first book that I've read in this series. I felt that I didn't need to necessarily read the other books in order for this book to make sense, although it would have been helpful to get to know the numerous characters. On the Carlyle side of the family there were numerous family members for the reader to familiarize themselves with and at times all of the family members seemed somewhat overwhelming.

The main characters of Dylan and Finley were engaging women with interesting careers and personal backstories. Their chemistry was smoldering and the intimate scenes ranged from slow and sexy to highly intense.

I received an ARC from Bold Strokes Books and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

V.K. Powell has written a beautiful romance with Line of Duty, the third book in the Fairview Station series. This book tells the story of Dylan Carlyle, the youngest daughter in the Carlyle family. Unlike her older sisters, Dylan has chosen a different path for her life. Bennett (Ben) and Jazz became police officers like their father and grandfather, but Dylan chose to become an emergency room doctor. Because of past family trauma, she has also vowed to never date or become serious with a cop. This promise to herself is tested, however, when she meets Finley Masters. Finley is a patrol officer working out of Fairview Station. In fact, Bennett and Jazz are her superior officers. Finley is a good cop, but because of her family history has vowed to never be in a serious relationship. She is a player, going from woman to woman, and never staying long enough to get into anything serious. Finley and Dylan clash almost from the moment they meet, and both are set on keeping their vows, but that darned attraction keeps getting in the way. When a tragic event brings them even closer, those promises are tested even more.

Though I am not sure, I believe this might be the concluding novel for this series. If it is, Ms. Powell did a great job of finishing the series out. With this book, the stories of all three Carlyle sisters are now told. The world this tale takes place in is already well-developed from the first two novels. Most of the secondary characters should also be familiar to the reader if they have read the rest of the series. The story of Dylan and Finley is well done and a fitting end to the overall story of the Carlyle family. I like both of the main characters in this tale, and loved how the attraction played with their promises to themselves. It created a push/pull between them that kept me reading to see just how it would end.

The only criticism I have is with the actions of the bad guys that cause the tragic incident in the story. I never quite understood why they did what they did. It certainly didn’t help them to get what they wanted. Then I realized…they are the bad guys. They probably aren’t the brightest bulbs in the package. After that, I just let it slide and enjoyed the story.
Ms. Powell is an expert at writing police procedurals, and with this book, she also shows us just how talented she is at combining that with a lovely romance. This novel could technically be read as a standalone, but I think you would miss out on some great stories if you choose to not read the first two in the series. All three are wonderful stories, and well worth reading in order.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books for an honest review.

This book is awesome! There's enough cop drama to keep the book exciting but not so much as to overshadow the romance. Excellent characters again, just like the othere in this series. The intimate scenes were smoking hot! I'm a huge fan of VK Powell and can't wait for her next book, whether in this series or not. This book is a giant recommend!

This was the third book in the Fairview Station series and highlighted the youngest sibling, Dr. Dylan Carlyle.

Dylan was dedicated to her career as an ER doctor and to her family. But she did not have much of a social like and didn’t have flings. Her nurse friend Holly told Dylan she needed to relieve some of her tension and she should hook up with someone in the hospital like a nurse or even Finley Masters, a cop who arrived with an overdose victim. Finley had a well know reputation as being a womanizer and described as drool-worthy. Dylan quickly dismissed that idea and went to the hospital’s on call room to try to rest. To Dylan’s surprise, Finley was already there and having sex with a nurse. After watching them for a bit, Dylan was angry at their unprofessional behavior and at the same time enthralled by Finley’s nakedness. Actually, Finley was doing exactly what Holly had told Dylan to do. After seeing Finley’s naked body, a struggle ensued between Dylan’s brain and her body. She was attracted to her physically but not her reckless womanizing ways. But that slowly changed when there was a shooting during a children’s festival held at the Fairview Station where Dylan’s family was present, as well as Finley. Dylan put herself in harm’s way to treat the wounded which included Finley’s best friend. She then saw a more sensitive side to Finley.
I read the other two books and have always enjoyed the family dynamics of the Carlyle clan. So it was nice revisiting them again and their open level of communication with each other. At times they were a bit intrusive questioning Dylan’s love life much to her annoyance, but it was out of concern and love for the youngest sibling.
I like stories that the characters have a chance to get to know each other over a period of time before declaring their love. It seemed like- in a blink of an eye- Finley and Dylan declared not only their love for each other but a life long commitment. This transition period from their previously long held beliefs was rather abrupt. I think I would have enjoyed this story better if the characters had more time to get to know each other.
Overall, VK Powell wrote an entertaining story that fans of the series will enjoy.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.

Dylan is the last Carlyle to find romance in this third book of the Fairview Station series even though she not looking for it she decided that being a doctor and focus on her family and friends is enough for her. Dylan comes from family of police officers and when tragedy strikes her family early on she decides to close herself off from love and even if she didn't she vow to never dates cops.

Finley is cop who trying to become detective she has a reputation of being a womanizer she use sex not deal with past issues at first glance you think that the way she is but seeing how her father drink himself to death she think giving her heart to someone would cause at lot of pain.

When Dylan first meet Finley it's in a compromise position and it doesn't goes off to a great start. As they keep being in each other orbit Dylan start to see that Finley isn't what her reputation say she is but Dylan who close her heart starts to feel something for Finley and it throws her off because she vow never to date cops because she doesn't want to fear for their safety as she already does with her siblings. Finley is dismay that she finally met her match because Dylan doesn't fall for her charms and as she spent more time with Dylan she realize she wants forever and not causal.

Dylan and Finley learns that sometimes taking a risk even if it's scary can lead to happiness regardless wether it last or not.

This is the third book in the Fairview Station series and I really enjoyed it. I have not read the previous two books, but don't think you need to read it for this one. Finley Masters is a patrol Policeman at Fairview Station. She has being dealing with her past issues by sleeping around. She has pretty much gotten a reputation of being a womanizer. Dylan Carlyle is an ER physician who rarely dates and focuses on her family and friends. She doesn't have time to date, but if she did, it would not be a cop. She comes from a family of police officers and decided to become a doctor instead because of the tragedy that struck her family in earlier years. She first meets Finley in a compromising position and things go haywire after that.

I have only read one other Powell romance and that was Incognito which I enjoyed. This one was no different. I liked both MC's. Sure Finley is pretty cocky and egotistically, but it is not overly done. Dylan was enjoyable to read because she was kind and honest. The chemistry these two share is strong. Even though Dylan is determined not to date Finley because she is a cop, she still is drawn to her and gets to know her on a personal level. These two characters just click no matter how hard they fight it. This one isn't filled with sex scenes, but the couple that are in the romance are hot! I am a sucker for a good sex scene. I did find myself wanting just a tad bit more in that department. Anyway, I did enjoy this one and will have to double back and read the other two in this series.

I give this one 4.25 stars.
