The Lawton family sucked me in again! I wasn't sure I wanted to read about Kody. She is such a tough cookie and can be really really mean. I rarely identify with the heoine's who are "tough" and have a serious attitude. Kody definitely qualifies for that. But she does have a soft side and when she loves, she loves fiercely and with a huge amount of loyalty. She has also had a huge amount of loss in her life. I am glad we didn't get her story first - I think I needed time to warm up to her.
Hill Gantry, though, I did not need to time to warm up to him. There is just something about him that definitely makes him serious book boyfriend material. Hill hasn't had an easy life either - but has loved Kody for most of it. Even when she was in love and planning to marry his troubled younger brother. He pretty much loves Kody through it all - even when she is seriously mean to him.
This book is about both Kody and Hill coming to terms with the loss of Hill's brother and finally allowing themselves to connect. For Kody - it is really about putting away the guilt and grief so that she can let herself find love with the man who's loved her all along.
I really really enjoyed this book - and although it will definitely help if you read the other two stories first, you could 100% read this as a standalone.
I can't WAIT (like really - can it come out now?) for the next book!
I received this as an ARC from NetGalley but these opinions are all my own.
What?? Jay, I need more! Where’s the rest? Unforgiving is the second book in the Loveless series. I do recommend reading them in order. Plus the Novella, Unbroken. We’ve had Crew and Case’s books; this is Kody’s. This book grabs you from page one and keeps a hold of you until the end; and it leaves us hanging to boot!!! There is so much heartache between Hill and Kody. They have a devastating past! Because of that, Hill has stayed away. But some news brings him back to Loveless that he personally needs to deliver. Kody can’t believe he’s back and is angrier than ever! But why does seeing Hill make her feel safe and gooey? Can these two find peace from their past and have a future together? Amongst all the drama, a lot happens in the Little town. But you’ll have to read it to find out what’s going on. I don’t want to ruin the ride you’ll be on while reading this book!! Go grab it today!
This is another good book in this series. I look forward to the next book in this series. I recommend this book, this series, and this author.
Another great book in this series! It was a great fast paced read. You get a great love story and suspense and action! You do get closure on Hill and Kody’s story but you will definitely want to read Shot’s book. Which I am so excited to read!!
4.5 stars
This was just what I hoped for...romantic and angsty and action packed. I loved Jody and Hill. Kody was sassy and a little hot headed but she loved her family, while Hill was so protective of Kody and willing to put others first. My only complaint is that [ there wasn't a resolution with finding Conrad's killer and Ashby is still at large (hide spoiler)]
I will be chomping at the bit to get the next book because I was
Kody and Hill have been attracted to each other since they were young, but Kody ended up with Hill's brother Aaron until he died. Hill left town and became a Texas Ranger. Now he's back to investigate Kody's Fathers murder. This is my first time reading Jay Crownover and I'm impressed. The book grabs you right at the beginning and doesn't let go till the end. Can't wait to read the other books in this series.
Overall a great read and so glad I got to read and review this ARC love Jay's work!
She loved him even when she was with his brother and he loved her enough to let her go. Now Hill Gamble is back to turn Kody's life upside down when someone murders her father and he has to investigate since he knows the family. Will they be able to get past the hurt and tell each other how they feel?
I wanted more of their story but a lot of other characters were persistent. I hope there will be more of their story or at least a catch up in others books from Kody and Hill.

Kody and Hill's love story was a story that I never knew I needed. They had a lifetime connection that was heartbreaking, electric, and beautiful. Kody is the wild child of the Lawton family, she owns a bar, is super sassy, can drink you under the table, and has a close relationship with the leader of a motorcycle club. Hill had his demons to deal with some that involve Kody and others that he has to deal with on his own. I like that the mystery that Kody and Hill are involved in; however, there was a bit of a cliffhanger. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Unforgiven is another great read set in the town of Loveless, Texas. This book is full of intrigue, action, suspense and danger. The suspenseful storyline and the wonderful characters pull you in and keep your attention until the end. Kody and Hill were both wonderful, flawed characters. They were two halfs of a wonderful whole couple. I can't wait to read the next book.
I almost want to write to same review for this book as I did for the first book in this series. I really liked Kody and Hill and their story. The two have had feelings for each other for years but pain, guilt, and the shadow of Hill’s brother have kept them from acting on them. I like that this was more of slow burn as they dealt with the past before letting themselves conceive of a future. I really liked almost everything about this book until the mystery went off the rails. I found it over the top and a little too convenient. Crownover does everything else so well though that I really don’t mind. I will say that I am bursting with anticipation for the next book in the series. Crownover set it up so perfectly in the end and I hate thinking about how long I will have to wait.
I received copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Great pacing and backstory to develop romantic angst between the main protagonists. Hill and Kody are a perfect match even if it has taken years for them to admit it. I like the addition of more characters for subsequent books and the cliffhanger.
Unforgiven is unforgettable!!
Jay Crownover does it again. This story will suck you in right from the start. Kody and Hill have known each other for a long time. When Kody marries Hills little brother he thinks his chance with Kody is over. He has loved Kody from afar forever. Little does he know that her feelings for him have been about the same. Pick up this book to see how the story plays out. There are many unexpected twists and turns along the way. This book rocks!! I can’t wait for the next one.
This book was full of drama and filled with mystery. Kody and Hill's story started out with sadness and sorrow. Kody's father had just been murdered and Hill was assigned to investigate his death while also dealing with the fact that he had been in love with Kody since his youth while she had been with his brother who was mentally ill and had subsequently committed suicide. During the course of the investigation, an unknown half sister of the Lawton's makes an appearance and brings a crazy person into their lives just to shake things up a bit while Kody and Hill admit their feelings for each other and start a relationship together. The story moved along but I felt that the issue if the crazy friend just died away and became forgotten at the end but at the very end of Kody and Hill's story, we get a jolt of new drama and the set up for another book in this series. I enjoyed this as well as this series and I look forward to more in the future.
I loved it! Kody and Hill's love story is better than I could have imagined. They had such a tough road to one another, and a big past to overcome. Luckily, their reconnection part was easy, because there was a lot goin on otherwise in Unforgiven.
Okay, so character-wise, here are my thoughts. Kody is the independent baby sister of Crew and Case. You meet those two in previous books, but this could be read on it's own, for now. She's sassy, close with the leader of an MC, runs a bar, tough. But she doesn't think she's good enough for Hill. Hill is the perfect cop cowboy. He's the good guy, the hero, steadfast and strong.
Lots of action in this story. Someone has killed Kody's dad. So a mystery needs to be unravelled and while the good news it that her and Hill are happily together by the end of the story, the bad news is that some things are unresolved. Not a cliffhanger but definitely more to come, which is still good news!
I received a free copy of Unforgiven in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed the story and the bad ass characters that all came from some type of dysfunction. It made for an interesting read.
I really hope to read the next book. It definitely looks intriguing.
Solid 3.5
This is the first book I have read by this author and therefore the first in the series I have read.
The story centers around Hill Gamble and Kody Lawton. Kody, Hill, and his brother Aaron were friends in their youth. For Hill, it was love at first sight, but she chose his brother so he never professed his love.
Kody did all she could to help Aaron, and felt betrayed by Hill for not helping his brother when he was at his lowest. Never knowing there was more to the story.
Years later, she is a bar owner and he a Texas Ranger. When Kody’s father is killed and Hill is back in town to help investigate the murder, Kody and Hill are forced to faced their past.
I have to confess that it wasn’t until I had read 50% of the book that I finally became engaged in the story. I felt that the dual POV in which the characters were constantly having an internal dialogue, was part of the problem.
That said, aside from the mystery of who had committed the crime it was also a story about family. How the actions of those that are suppose to love a child, will affect that individual when they reach adulthood.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
This real gave me book two syndrome. It felt like a filler novel that's going lead us into the next book. I did like the mystery aspect of the book even though it did kinda end predictable. Also liked the rekindled relationship between Kody and Hill.
Wow! Incredibly fast paced read with a lot of action, mystery and drama following the Lawton's in Loveless, TX. This is a stand alone with it's own HEA, but part of a series that still has a loose end or canon or two, and I can't wait to find out what.
Kody and Hill finally get their time together. So good, so sweet, so overdue and so Hot! Too bad he still gets called out of town too much. I have a feeling this will change in the near future.
All the surprises that come out surrounding the Lawton patriarch will definitely keep your interest, and flipping pages waiting for more.
The Sons of Sorrow, P. comes into play in a totally unexpected twist making me wish Shot's
book was already released.
An excellent read that pulls you in!
I received an ARC thru Netgalley and Forever. I am giving my opinions freely.
Okay, this one is a little bit complex. Hill and Aaron Gamble (brothers) and Kody Lawton were sort of the “three musketeers”. They were inseparable growing up until Aaron and Kody fell in love. Hill separated himself from the pair and moved away. Right before the wedding, Aaron’s life ended. Older brother Hill knew Aaron’s struggles but he could not help his brother until it is too late. Kody resented Hill for that – she may never forgive Hill for not trying hard enough. But why all the hatred toward Hill and what were the reasons Hill stayed away for so long?
When Hill came back home to investigate the suspicious death of Kody’s father, Kody and Hill have to face each other again whether they like it or not. (Kody is still mad.) She wants nothing to do with Hill but her life is spiraling quickly and Hill became her knight and shining armor. Their old friendship became so much more. Will they be able to mend the heartbreaking past and find a second chance at love? Personally, I feel that there is a lot going on that distracted me from a love story between Hill and Kody. It’s interesting but sometimes I just appreciate a simple love story without all the extra climaxed events in this case (the murder mystery). I also couldn’t connect with the characters as I would have liked to, especially Kody. I like Hill – a strong, charming, hot Texas Ranger. I also like the slow burn, the sizzling romance parts, and the second chance. If you like a bit of a crime mystery, family drama, suspense and a complex plot – this one is right up your alley.

Title: Unforgiven
Series :Loveless Texas
Author:Jay Crownover
Forever
Genre: Romance
Rating:4.5
Hill Gamble is a model lawman: cool and collected, with a confident swagger to boot. Too bad all that Texas charm hasn't gotten him anywhere in his personal life, especially since the only girl he ever loved has always been off-limits. But then Hill is assigned to investigate her father's mysterious death, and he's forced back to the town--and the woman--he left behind.
When Hill left Loveless, he broke Kody Lawton's already battered heart. And now that he's working on her father's case, avoiding him is impossible. She can handle Hill and her unwanted feelings--until he puts his life on the line to protect her. Suddenly, Kody realizes that Hill could be taken away from her...for good.
My thoughts
Would I recommend it ?yes
Will I read more of this series? Yes
Will I read more by this author? Yes
Hot and streamy comes to mind while your reading this one, because of the sexual tension between Hill and Kody, and even though Kody doesn't want to adment it ,her own brother Hill's best friend see it and speaks up about it, but his all for it because he knows that Hill is the best thing that can happen to his sister. Not only is the romance hot and heavy, but the the suspense is also right up there as well , it keeps you wanting to know who killed their farther and why and it brings to life more secrets that they ( the Lawton's ) didn't know, and you see more of them as a family coming together as well. And you get a more detailed background story on Kody and her bar as well as her friends..With that said I want to thank Forever as well as NetGalley for letting me read and review as well as inviting me to check it out ,and I'm looking forward to reading more of this series .
