I love this writing. Each book I have read by her has been so good. This one doesn’t disappoint. I highly recommend this and all of her books.

Another great book by Kim Vogel Sawyer. Meghan and Sean are cold case investigators. They are married and work side by side. When a case comes in that they need a women detective Sean and Meghan are split to solve the cases and get different partners. Meghan is also struggling because Sean wants to have children and she feels she would not be a good parent due to her father abandon her mother when he found out she was pregnant when they were in college. Great book and kept me wanting to finish the book to find out the ending. I read this book for NetGalley for my honest review.

A touching and inspiring story, this sequel to Bringing Maggie Home was one that took me by surprise. It was full of insight into family dynamics--both healthy and dysfunctional. There are two cold case mysteries to solve in this one, plus a significant other that resurfaces bringing disruption to Diane's life.

The redemptive theme was strong, giving some characters second chances at making things right and hope for their future. Forgiving some significant wrongs with the help of faith, plus encouragement to overcome the past bitterness, gave the story a lot of hope. I was convicted by how the characters prayed for people and reached out to ones who seemed very antagonistic and frankly, hopeless. It made me remember that the message of grace is extended to all, and that God loves them; no one is hopeless. Grandma Hazel was a star, with her intuitive witnessing and prayers for others. She reminded me of one of my grandmas with her firm faith, and pragmatic outlook.
The bouncing between viewpoints and adding past segments took a bit to get used to at first. The author does a good job tying it all together and keeping it moving at a good pace. Loved the hopeful ending. I would like to see another story added to the series!
Recommend reading the first book to understand more of the backstory and family dynamics.

This is different from other books I’ve read by Kim Vogel Sawyer but I ended up really loving it. Most of her books I’ve read are historical or Amish type books. In Unveiling the Past we once again meet Meghan and her family. She and her husband Sean are cold case detectives who have only been married a few years and are working through some conflict. I loved watching Meghan grow in her Christian walk as she and her new partner help Sheila figure out what happened to her father years ago. I’d love to see more of these characters in the future. Anything Kim writes is a winner in my book!

UNVEILING THE PAST by KIM VOGEL SAWYER is a beautifully written book, based strongly on psalm sixty-eight verse five, "A father to the fatherless.......is God in His holy habitation."
Meghan DeFord-Eagle and her husband Sean Eagle are detectives in the Cold Case squad. They work together well as partners, but when a case comes up in which the client has specifically asked for a female detective, and because Sean feels committed to a case he is on, they change partners.
Sheila Menke is the young woman who desperately wants to know what happened to her father and to clear his name. Meghan really connects with her as she has never known her own father.
It is a story of hope, redemption, and the importance of forgiveness and trusting God, as we are taken through the characters' lives, feeling their emotions as they try to make the best of difficult circumstances.
I really enjoyed this book and cannot recommend it highly enough.
