I'm not one for just sitting down and writing in a journal although over the years I've had intentions to start one. The word "creative" in the title caught my eye because I thought maybe that would help inspire me to both create and write. This book is full of ideas, techniques, tips and advice for not only journals, but also weekly planners. I loved the sections on bookbinding and building your own books. The author definitely shows preference for doing all handwriting and pen designs by hand, which is a throwback to old-school scrapbooking. Using that technique for doing your own weekly planner seems pretty tedious, but I would apply her ideas to other types of journals and books. The mixed media art techniques brought another level or creativity that looks fun to experiment with. Overall, the explanations are easy to understand, and there is a wide variety of techniques explained and demonstrated with clear photos.

This was such a great book to get a beginner started with journaling. After a brief overview of suggested supplies, the author gives many great ideas for bullet journaling. The pictures were high quality and the instructions were clear and helpful. The next section covered junk journaling, which I love because often you can reuse and recycle materials with this style. I would have loved even more ideas in this section. The final two sections cover mixed media and travel journaling. As I have never done travel journaling, but would really like to start, I liked that part the most. Again, I would have love even more ideas. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone interested in creative journaling. The experienced crafter may not be interested however.
I've been looking for a journaling guide for a long time, and this was perfect. Since I studied art in the past, I'm very inclined to use creativity in my days. This book had not only layouts with steps to recreate them but also some ideas for include collage and scrapbooking in your journal,
It also works as a guide for materials and techniques for you to try.
If you are starting in the world of journaling, this is the perfect book to start.

Amazing book! I do journaling with the children at my library, but I am always on the look out for more ideas. This was a great idea book!
"Creative Journaling" is a gorgeous book. One of the things I love about dot journaling is how versatile it is, and how open to newbies. I like that artistic talent in the traditional sense isn't a requirement, only that you try stuff and see what works best for you.
The 'Creative Journaling' book offers a wealth of information from creative lettering to washi tape borders, layouts to habit trackers, and so much more. The photos are breathtakingly beautiful and there is a full and in-depth resources sections to further inspire you. I received an ARC from Quarto Publishing Group - Rock Point via NetGalley this review is my personal opinion.

I have just started on my journalling journey and found this book excellent to get me started. I loved it and how it progressed from beginner to more advanced levels slowly and effectively.
Such a great reference book. I really liked the how-to's in this.. I'm sure I'll be using this as a reference for a long time.

I was very curious when I got this book. This book is very inspiring. It gives you many tips and tricks to make creative journals, but you can also use it for other art projects. They explain a wide variety of art techniques and it's easy to understand. I would definitely recommend this book to people who want to make their journals more creative or people who want to make art projects in general, as an inspiration.
As someone who has recently started looking at art journaling I found this book to be a great inspiration. Packed with ideas for those just starting out, easily explained, and I can see many possibilities expanding on the ideas here... which as a creative inspration book means it did the job.
This title offers lots of ways of expressing oneself. After an introductions and chapters on materials and techniques, a umber of projects are detailed. There are sections on Dot Grid Journaling, Junk Jornaling, Mixed Media Journaling and Travel Journaling. The book ends with a section on DIY Accessoreis and Papers. There are 52 projects in all.
The author presents a helpful list of materials to have on hand and suggestions for creative lettering for one's journal pages. There are then colorful example of borders for one's journal. I had never heard of washi tape but see now how it can help to make beautiful, quick journal pages.
My own journal up until now has been quite utilitarian. If yours is as well, perhaps you would like to experiment with adding an artistic statement to your writings, lists, and more. The ideas in this book will definitely yield unique and colorful results.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.
From the publisher: "Spark your creativity and keep yourself organized with the beautiful pages and easy-to-follow instructions of Creative Journaling." I am trying to get back into journaling and I was excited to receive an advanced copy of this book. I was blown away (and a bit intimidated) by the number and variety of techniques and ideas in this book. There is something to fit everyone's taste and ability and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. A great purchase for anyone who is new to journaling, as well as experts.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing for granting me an eBook copy of this book.
I love to journal and found myself getting back into bullet journalling about six months ago, so when I saw this book and all that it offers, I knew I needed it.
This is a great guide to help someone who wants to mix creativity into their journal. You will find lettering tips, trackers, lists to help with productivity, future logs, and I love the planning pages along with all the DIY crafts and how-to's with various artistic media.
I think this is a fun, unique tool for those looking to expand the information they may want to add to their journal along with options of what they can add.
A colourful guide on how to journal in a very creative way indeed. Although a bit too garish for my personal taste I believe it to be an excellent starting point for kids at secondary school with step-by-step instructions and lovely visual examples. Not only does it contain the traditional dot journaling that I am used to myself, but also chapters on junk journaling which I had not come across before. Working at a very environmental aware school I found these chapters extra exciting for my students and believe the book to be a wonderful addition to any school library that wants to promote creativity.

Creative Journaling includes many photographs and illustrations that are both helpful as well as inspiring. Furthermore, author covers a range of projects that include travel journals, calendars, planners, and bullet journals, just to name a few. The instructions are easy to follow and the finished project doesn’t seem nearly as intimidating. As a result, this book has given me a number of new ideas that I’m anxious to try.
