Katie and Jordan literally exploded onto the page in Fated when they saved Cara. They were very prominent in both Fated and Claimed. I loved getting to know the two of them. While it was made clear that they had a long history, the story of how they first met was never fully told. What was clear was that Katie was sure that Jordan saw her as the cub he rescued. What was clear to the reader is that Jordan was fighting an internal battle not to claim Katie for his own.
The major change from Hunted to Consumed was we jump ten years into the future. That is nothing in vampire, shifter, and demon years. In that time, the virus that is slowly killing the mates of vampires has started to affect shifters and not in the way that it affects mates. This virus has been twisted to turn shifters into werewolves. As I’ve said in previous reviews, werewolves not good in this series. Werewolves bad. Shifters turning into werewolves even worse. They eventually go crazy, return to their pack and try to kill everyone in it.
After ten years, Jordan has decided it’s time for Katie to come home. When he comes face-to-face with her, he is not prepared for the powerful punch of attraction he feels. Actually, attraction doesn’t really do his feelings justice. Jordan has known exactly where Katie has been in the time she has been gone. He also knows exactly what she has been doing. He has come to collect her and tell her that there will be no more hunting werewolves for her. Why he thought she would listen to him, I have no earthly clue. Honestly. Men.
Katie has had a sense about werewolves ever since she was infected with the virus in Fated. She also lost her ability to shift, the biggest part of herself. When Jordan comes to tell her that he’s taking her home, she laughs. Then goes hunting the werewolf she has named Fluffy. She soon learns that Fluffy is not your normal werewolf. He walks and talks and said he knows Jordan. He also says that Katie is his mate. She decides he really has to die.
If that’s not enough, Katie learns that Jordan has been infected by the virus. As alpha of the Pride, it’s slower moving but it’s only a matter of time before he turns. Katie is convinced that mating her will save him. But will it? Maybe.
I really enjoyed the battle of wills in this book. I loved finally learning how Jordan and Katie first met. I just loved everything about this book.
