This is my second book in this series and my second series (Westerly Billionaires) by this author and she did not disappoint. The hero Mauricio ,in trying to cover for his friend Felix, was tasked with the unpleasant directive to evict a friend from his bachelor pad and in so doing came upon Wren, the other main character. It was truly hilarious what happened to send Felix to the hospital, didn't know that was a thing.Wren and Mauricio , after a brief period of dissent embarked on a Parisian fling, at which point I questioned the quickness with which Wren abandoned her prudeness to completely engage in this tryst.Admiration abound for the friendship between Wren and Rachel whose frankness seem to be just what Wren needed.Familial loyalty was very evident when they all came together to fix Mauricio's love life and in the process embarked on a venture that could revolutionize the industry and change people's lives. Not sure that Wren's father's situation, while heart-breaking, added anything of value to the plot as I believe the outcome would have been the same without it.Still trying to figure out Judy's angle in the series considering not a lot of clues have been given for any clear connection to be made and the family tree is suspiciously unhelpful.Definitely a book worth reading and an author worth following. Thanks to Netgalley for this ARC.
Cardello delivers another quick, satisfying read in The Wild One, the second in this new Corisi Billionaires series. Mauricio and Wren make another opposites attract successful couple. This is a strong series. Looking forward how it ties into Dominic's story.
I really enjoyed this fun, entertaining and addictive romance. Sweet, innocent engineer Wren Heath gives sexy playboy Mauricio Romano a run for his money whilst holidaying in Paris. Mauricio is the exact opposite of everything Wren looks for in a relationship, but whilst in Paris she decides to be wild and throw caution to the wind, and they decide to have a one week fling. What happens in Paris, stays in Paris. Or does it? Two people, who I’m sure are destined to be together forever. I loved the banter between Mauricio and Wren, they were great together, both in and out of the bedroom. Mauricio had a fab sense of humour and I just adored his family - interfering, nosey, and completely and utterly adorable. I was hooked from the first chapter. Wonderful story, wonderful writing, and wonderful characters. I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. This is my honest review.
The story started a bit slow but as I kept reading, I was completely involved with their lives. This book is part of a series but it can be read as a stand-alone even if both books are linked together. Mauricio is a charming man who’s trying to find a new path in life. Wren is doing the same thing but she’s trying to keep her life in a safe haven. When she meets Mauricio, all her good intentions go up in flames and she decides to throw herself in this wild adventure. Both characters have a different background but what starts as a fling soon becomes something deeper and both realize that their lives and priorities are alike. A must read with characters that give a great significance to love and family. I’m voluntarily leaving a review after receiving a courtesy copy of the book.
Sexy and yet touching.
I really like Mauricio and Wren. Neither one is the week fling in Paris type really but both are more than willing to enjoy their time together. Mauricio once was very much the hot, brief affair type. Wren never was. The two don't realize that they share a deep-seated love for family and are more alike than it initially seems.
Cardello does a really good job of creating a fun, interesting Parisian interlude with just the right lack of sharing between these two to create a great chasm when it's time for their week to be over. Wren has no idea the devastation she's creating with her brief goodbye note and sneaking out. Mauricio hasn't got near enough info to find her though as his family does, he could use their mutual connections to track her down. He's more inclined to nurse his hurt feelings instead. .When his well-meaning father brings the two back together Mauricio says all the most hurtful things possible and creates an ever more difficult to scale divide. The turmoil is delicious. How in the world will these two get past their hurts and actions?
Cardello not only creates believable and sympathetic hero and heroine, all the characters have depth and add greatly to the story. Both families, Felix and Cecile are worth getting to know better.
This was a fun, easy read with a steamy romance! I'd never read Cardello's work before, but it reminded me of the stories of Lauren Blakely or Lauren Layne. I cared about the characters and wanted them to find happiness with each other, and liked that Cardello didn't have to break my heart before getting to the Happily Ever After. This is a good one for romance readers who like all the happy, sexy parts with minimal emotional turmoil.
Very likeable heroine, but the story was just ok. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. Maybe I was at a disadvantage since I haven't read any other books by this author and there seemed to be more involved with side characters that was lost on me.
Mauricio Romano is trying to find his place in his life, for years he was the playboy, but when tragedy struck his older brother's life he was forced to take over the family company, ever since his brother came back to run the Romano Superstores chain he's not sure where he fits. Flying to Paris to meet his friend Felix about a business proposition, he ends up accidentally meeting Wren, never having been interested in love before, there's just something about her. Wren has always done what's safest and expected of her for her entire life, right down to her stable job that she doesn't like. When she has a chance encounter with Mauricio she questions all of her life choices and wants to do something careless. Deciding a Paris fling was exactly what she needed Wren spends the week with Mauricio, what she didn't plan on were her feelings. When tragedy strikes at home, she's forced to leave early without saying goodbye.
This was overall a good story. I loved that Wren was a history nerd and an engineer. She was relatable in her risk adverseness, it's so incredibly easy to fall into what's comfortable and safe. As much as I wanted to hate Mauricio, I couldn't. Despite his past, he was sweet and charming, and I loved him (and his family) for Wren. I also like how it touched on veterans with PTSD and survivor guilt. It's something that can be so easy to push to the back of your mind if you don't live it or know someone affected by it, but they are definitely issues that need to be addressed. If you've read her Legacy Collection you know who Dominic Corisi is, you get a glimpse, a few more nuggets of information about him and his family history. If you haven't, it's only a couple of chapters that are easy to skip, but I have a feeling it will tie into this series later on. This is sweet, angsty, hot read with a little bit of everything.
The Wild One might become my favorite one. MAURICIO and Wren might have started as a vacation fling, but I have every confidence they will go the distance. I also like the side story of Dominic.
These boys are totally swoon-worthy.
The second in Cardello's latest series this continues on where the last book left off...
We still have the random character who we may see more of in the next because we finished with him instead of starting... I think with this part of the story I would prefer that it was more woven into the main because this is just a random chapter here and there that are literally just building the background story arc and don't seem to fit with the main bulk of the story
Anyway... for our main H and h we have one of the other brothers we met in the first book (shocker I know) he finally decides to take a break when he meets Wren in Paris
This is all well and good until he meets her at home... is this going to end in disaster or a HEA (hmm...)
This was the perfect beach read (ok so it was poolside but same difference) for those of you like me, have a winter sunshine holiday!
Wren Heath is a wonderful heroine...smart (she's an engineer), confident in what she wants, is a supportive daughter, says exactly what she means...and she's looking for a fling while in Paris for vacation! She and Mauricio Romano meet and their relationship grows from there. Their development was realistic and I absolutely loved their families. The story also moves the back story of Dominic Corisis' mysterious family background and how it is connected to the Romanos. I look forward to brother #3 Christof's story.
I was given a free ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I might never look at a sex toy the same after reading, The Wild One. I liked the lightness of this story. A little drama, but all good stories need at least a little.
I absolutely love Mauricio. I just loved this story so much. This author is an automatic for me.
Thanks Netgalley
Loved reading the awesome and amazing romance story. When Wren goes to Paris to meet her friend, Cecile, she didn't expect to meet a charismatic, handsome man, Mauricio. Cecile warns Wren that Mauricio is a player and to stay away from him, but Wren decides to let her heart be broken and spends an unforgettable week with him. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, engaging storyline, and captivating storyline, and a must read love story.
I reviewed a book through NetGalley.
The Wild One is Mauricio and Wren’s story, yet also a continuation of the Corisi Billionaires series. This novel finds Mauricio in Paris as he tries himself at a crossroads. Despite his history as a playboy, for the first time, he finds himself longing for the love of a woman and a family that his older brother has recently found.
Wren is in Paris to meet a friend, taking a rare vacation and and even more rare break for her parents. She had a wonderful childhood and feels that she owes her parents the kind of love and support with which they provided her. However, it has prevented her from finding a fulfilling job and a long-term relationship.
Mauricio and Wren meet through friends. Mauricio is instant attracted to Wren, as she is to him; however, she is not interested in a one-night stand and her friend assures here that Mauricio is a confirmed playboy. Despite that fact, Wren agrees to spend a day with Mauricio, and their attraction is beyond anything that either has ever felt before. Can a playboy convince a very skeptical woman that he can be reformed?
I love Paris, and I loved the way Mauricio and Wren explored the city and fell in love with it as well as with each other. Never mind their initial "dinner, but not dinner" meeting! I think the Romano's are an awesome family and as with book one, the side characters are just as interesting as the main characters. Can't wait for more in the series and for Dominic to come into play!
So straight lace Wren Heath is visiting Paris and decides to live it up, have a little fun, go completely opposite of her tame calm life. Who better for a walk on the wild side that a sexy playboy billionaire, Mauricio Romano. Oh how I love the Romano men!!!
Mauricio is all about showing the ladies a good time. But Wren is sweet, innocent and Mauricio fears she'll get too attached and he went be able to break free of the fling without breaking her heart. But what if his heart gets involved, then what?!!
This fun adventure in Paris was sweet and sexy and a riot! I enjoyed their interaction and enthusiasm for the sights and one another. But when Wren is called away unexpectedly things get sticky. Mauricio thinks she's just left and Wren is dealing with things where she cannot think of her own life.
I loved how the families come together, again, to help our this destined love.
Love this adventure with Dominic!!
This is book 2 in the series and it really does not stand alone. There is a bit of a Judy/Dominic mystery storyline that starts in the first book and continues here and it will be interwoven in this series throughout the books.
The main plot is about Mauricio and he is brother #2. He is the pretty boy, playboy and he is in Paris and visiting a friend when said friend sends him to his apartment to remove his current friend. His friend has a friend visitinga nd that is how M meets Wren
They are both very attracted and so they have a Parisian fling but when Wren has to leave suddenly she breaks M's heart and so his family gets involved in all the best ways. This is a really fun story with some really awesome characters and I loved the story alot.
The Wild One is a love story about romantic love and the love of friends and family. Romano brother Mauricio is in Paris trying to figure out his next business project when he meets fellow American, Wren, on a vacation, but also re-examining her career options. They agree to a fling...a fling which might scorch your e-reader! Real life intervenes and how these two characters handle those disappointments and challenges brings the story to another level that left this reader cheering. I loved the banter and teasing between Wren and Mauricio. Ms. Cardello never disappoints when putting words into her characters’ mouths! It would be remiss if I didn’t mention Judy Corisi and her family tree project that was introduced in The Broken One. Unbeknownst to Judy, her father Dominic does some research on his own which will leave readers hoping the author writes the next installment quickly. I don’t mean to imply that this can’t be read as a stand-alone, but with each installment new clues are dropped that eventually will have to bring the Romano and Corisi clans into contact. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book. It’s well worth your time and I most highly recommend.
I'm struggling to write a review for this one. It's apparently one in a series. The prologue and the finale involved a character who never appeared in the rest of the book. So why was he there? I found this both confusing and annoying, since it clearly required you read a series and I dislike being forced into that!
What can I say about the rest of the book? Well, on the positive side, it was a pleasant enough little romance with some sexy bits thrown in and was not badly written.
However, it never really grabbed me. I thought the plot was rather pedestrian and with under-developed characters it meant that when I'd finished, I could barely remember anything I'd read. Sorry, but if I was on holiday lying under a parasol, this would probably have passed an hour or two quite easily but it was nothing particularly exciting. If you like undemanding and predictable easy reading, this is okay. Not for me, I'm afraid.
