5 stars!!

This book was another 5 star read I loved all of it, the passion, the couple. The ongoing storyline from both the Dragon kings and Reapers series. Which if you haven’t started and your new to this series you should definitely go and check them out, you will enjoy the stories more and be able to appreciate the intricate tapestry that this author is weaving for us readers.

The passion, mystery, plots, twists and turns, secondary characters and the steam all combine to make the perfect hook to keep us readers both old and new to the series hooked and wanting more.

I can’t wait for this next book.

I enjoyed my visit to this world.

I voluntarily read this book in exchange for an honest review, Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity of this ARC. (less)

Dark Alpha’s Temptation may have been a shorter book, but it certainly delivered on danger, escalation of situations, sizzling chemistry and the intricate twists I now expect from every Reaper story (along with the connecting Dark Kings series).

Kyra and Dubham are a truly intriguing couple considering their differences, yet those same differences are a draw as well. I was, once again, easily caught up in this world and didn’t step away from my Kindle until the final page was turned. Getting to run into other favorite characters from this series is always a surprise and a delight for me, so be prepared to reunite with some old friends.

However, I don’t feel comfortable saying much more since I believe most of what I could say would be considered in the spoiler zone, and it is never my intent to spoil a story for a future reader. Let’s leave it at Dark Alpha’s Temptation brings us closer to the epic battle we all know is coming, Dubham and Kyra are a unique, sexy couple that I enjoyed on all levels, and I’m definitely looking forward to what comes next. These connecting series just get better and better, in my opinion, as the ultimate battle comes closer. You “could” step into this world at this point and enjoy yourself – but if at all possible I’d still recommend starting from the beginning for they are all intricate pieces of an overall puzzle and damned good stories as well.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

This is another fantastic story in the Reaper series by Donna Grant. I am usually not a fan of paranormal but this series has been wonderful to read.

Is it just me? Going by the numbers, I guess so. But I just didn't really get into this one. It was way too romancey with all its mushy BS and self esteem boosting boredom. Apparently both characters are perfect, are not who their family is, and can do absolutely anything they set their mind to. They're just so smart and beautiful and blah blah blah. It was so tedious and eye roll inducing for me. Absolutely no headway has been made in finding Xaneth and, even worse, there is pretty much no action to even speak of. I do appreciate the fact that Kyra had a brain and that she used it. The problem was that she was pointing out things that should have been obvious to everyone else already. The twist(s) with Kyra's aunt were not surprising at all, they were too predictable to be so. On the plus side, we learn a teeny tiny itsy bitsy more about the others and what they're up to. Even better, Erith has finally agreed to fight alongside the Kings. So hooray for that!

Dubhan and the other Reapers have been searching everywhere for any sort of lead as to where Xaneth could be. Dubhan has searched this city and not found a single clue, but for some reason something is keeping him there. And it's not the person that's been following him.

Kyra hasn't been able to stop thinking about the warrior she saw fighting at the light castle, so she ends up following him. She figures out pretty quick that he has to be a Reaper and wants to ask him for help. It's easy for her to figure out where he is and follow him around waiting for the chance to speak to him. When she finally does, it doesn't really go as planned though.

Dubhan is understandably concerned that Kyra was not only trapped inside the barrier when they were fighting, but that she has figured out what he is. After all, she's a full fae and that knowledge means her death. But at the same time he can't seem to push her away. In fact, he ends up letting her help him. He's finally figured out what has been keeping him in that town but there are wards on the building he is not familiar with and others that keep him out. Kyra can help with both by going to people she knows. Unfortunately, what they learn is nothing good.

Despite the risks, these two continue to work together and even get Erith's blessing to be a couple. Which is a good thing considering they're soulmates. Que another eye roll. I don't always have an issue with the soulmate thing. A lot times, sure. But not always. Here I did because it just seemed like some excuse thrown into the story to explain why these two people who know nothing about each other are madly in love within a day. It was wholly unbelievable. In general, these two made little sense to me. And it was amazing just how often they could go from having a serious conversation one second, to having sex the next. It was like 'what just happened??'

I did enjoy the little snippets from Xaneth's point of view and I'm hoping that he can save himself now that he's figured a few things out.

While this was mostly definitely not one of my favorites from either series, I'm still looking forward to what happens next. I'm pretty excited for more dragon/reaper interactions.

The adventure continues in this new tale of Reapers. The story can be read as a standalone, but a number of details might not make sense unless you read some of the books in the whole Dark Warrior/Dragon/Reaper universe. It is not a long book, but packed full of action, romance, heat and political intrigue. And definitely not just same old story. Always looking forward to the next book in this series! Very honest opinion after receiving advanced reader copy.

Dark Alpha’s Temptation by Donna Grant
Reaper Novel #9

Dubhan is one of Death’s Reapers and he is being followed. Who is following him? A woman and what a woman she is! Kyra is Light Fae but she has a special gift that allows her to locate Dubhan easily...a rather rare talent as few are able to do such a thing. Once she saw him she was almost inexorably drawn to him and though a bit stalker-ish she really could not pull away.

This is a snippet in the long story of this realm. A few characters make appearances, we learn about Dubhan’s family and how he was betrayed, Kyra’s family is almost as bad as Dubhan’s and we hear a bit about them, we learn a bit more about The Others, there are some deaths and a romance with the knowledge that there is an eventual war coming that will be inevitable.

I do not think this is a good point to begin reading this series. I have not read all of the series but wouldn’t mind doing so at some point in the future. I have no idea how much longer the story will go on but do hope that eventually the story lines will be tied together and the entire world of dragons, kings, Fae and others will be able to have a bit of peace.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in the series? Yes

DARK ALPHA’S TEMPTATION is the ninth instalment in Donna Grant’s REAPERS adult, paranormal/fantasy romance series. This is Reaper Dubhan, and light Fae Kyra Kavanaugh’s story line. The REAPERS is a spin off from Donna’s DARK KINGS series which is a spinoff from Donna’s DARK WARRIOR series which in turn is a spin off from Donna’s DARK SWORD series- all set in the Highlands of Scotland. You do not have to have read any of the previous series to understand the premise but many of the events overlap with the events of the Dark Kings. DARK ALPHA’S TEMPTATION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion.

SOME BACKGROUND: The Reapers (believed to be a folk lore amongst the Fae) are a group of Dark and Light Fae, selected by Death (aka Erith), on their own deathbed, to do her bidding-Death is the judge and jury; the Reapers are the executioners. The Reapers are not harbingers of death, but are tasked with destroying the Light and Dark Fae who have crossed a line from which there is no return. All Reapers must follow two rules: never to fall in love; and never to reveal their existence to anyone.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Dubhan and Kyra) DARK ALPHA’S TEMPTATION focuses on Kyra Kavanaugh as she is inexplicably drawn to the Reaper known as Dubhan but no one should be able to see the Reapers, and in this Dubhan is a confused as Kyra when matters of the heart pull our couple together. While Dubhan continues to search for the Light Fae Xaneth, he and Kyra discover magical markings both familiar and not, a way to ward against the Fae and the Reapers. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Dubhan and Kyra, and the potential fall –out when it is discovered that the Others have infiltrated at the heart of the matter.

DARK ALPHA’S TEMPTATION is a story of betrayal and secrets; power and lies. The Reapers will quickly discover that their existence and identity have been compromised, and in this they will become targets of those hoping to destroy them all; and that death is not necessarily a thing of permanence. The premise is intriguing and compelling; the characters are energetic and powerful; the romance and attraction is undeniable and strong.

I’ve read most of the Dragon King books, and love them. This is my first Reaper novel, so it felt a bit out of place for me. The Reapers have been mentioned in the other books, I just haven’t had the chance to get up close and personal with them. I know enough about the entire universe so that I didn’t feel completely lost, but I might have had more fun reading it if I had read the previous Reaper novels as well.

That being said, I’ll do my review now. Kyra was fascinated by Dubhan and the Reapers right from the start after she accidentally witnessed them in the battle at the Light Castle. Dubhan temporarily abandoned his search for Xaneth when he realized that he was being followed by Kyra, and decided to indulge his curiosity about her. The attraction between them was instantaneous and definitely mutual. Dubhan had found some mysterious markings on the door of a book store that has connections to the Others. And Kyra knew a guy who could tell them what it meant.

I liked the two of them together. But things progressed awfully fast from light flirting and sussing each other out, to having sex. Not that I have a problem with fast necessarily, but this one caught me by surprise. One minute they were talking about Max and sharing a bit about their pasts, and the next they were way beyond just kissing. After that, things felt a bit more settled of course, since the ice has been broken. What followed was an action-packed journey to discover the meaning of the symbol, the plans the Others are hatching, and warning the Dragon Kings, while dodging the efforts of the Others to stop them.

It was an exciting story, and the plot is slowly moving forward with every new installment. I’m definitely still hooked, and will keep on reading until the end.

I received an advanced copy of the book from Netgalley to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This story finds us with more questions but at least a few answers.
Kyra has watched him since the big battle and when she finally meets him eye to eye he is everything she thought he was an yep a bit more.
Dubhan finally meets his match of that he is certain when he takes in Kyra.
She is not a warrior but she has the heart and soul of one. His perfect match but can he keep her?
I loved the chemistry between these two and I love where this story is leading us to.
I can't wait for the next book.

You absolutely have to read the other books in this series in order to understand exactly what is going on. And I recommend that you read the Dragon Kings series as well because they are becoming more and more entwined with the bigger story ARC. In this one we get Dubhan and Kyra's story. Dubhan is part of the new Reapers that are on the search for Xaneth. Kyra has been following the mystery man around ever since seeing them battle the Queen's trackers. She doesn't understand why she is compelled to follow him, she just knows that she needs to do so and hopes it helps her with her own mission. Neither realize that the bigger picture of what is involved.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one! Kyra has been through a lot just so she can be true to herself. What she doesn't realize is the person who helped her had a different motive. I don't want to say too much and give anything away but I definitely loved how this one is still helping to push that bigger story ARC along! Dubhan also went through a lot and is realizing some things about his own past that he didn't know at the time. These two together are perfect and compliment each other not only on a personal level but in every way. The way these book's have been going-I have a feeling the bigger battle is going to be something along the lines of Lord of the Rings and I honestly can't wait!!!

I have loved every book I have read and I am happy to say that I just loved this book as well.

Dark Alpha's Temptation is book 9 in the Reaper series and yes you need to read the previous books.

Anyway, as I said before I love this book and I can't wait to read on this series because wow!! THAT TWIST!! Now I need the next book.

I am giving this 5 out of 5.

Love this series; some books are better than others, but overall this is a very entertaining, fun series. Love the whole idea of the Reapers and it’s fun that there are tie ins with multiple series from Donna Grant to get a bigger picture of what is going on in this book world. I was thinking it was only 2 series ( Dark Kings and Reapers) but apparently there’s some other(s). I do wish it said that in the premise; I may have missed it, so I’d know all the series involved in the bigger picture.

In this one, Kyra, a light Fae, and Dubhan, a Reaper who used to be a dark Fae, find a strange magical symbol that ends up having dangerous consequences. The Reapers are beginning to realize that they can’t stay out of the fray any longer. Love the action and mystery in this one. The magical aspects were awesome. There’s some interesting, unique ideas there. The premise fully entertained me.

Kyra has been following Dubhan because she feels a connection with him, but she’s going to find herself involved in something she may not be prepared for. Dubhan knows someone is following him and is surprised to find that it’s Kyra; someone he feels protective of. Kyra and Dubhan have a great connection. Very sweet and I love that they don’t play any games with each other; they aren’t afraid to express their feelings for each other. Loved how honest Kyra is; she’s smart and uses her common sense.

I really hope Usaeil remains dead. I’m loving the new enemy, The Others, the mysterious nature of this group makes for a better nemesis than an annoying Fae “Queen” ruled by petty jealousies and moronic ideas. Here’s hoping she’s gone! Also, here’s hoping we get Rhi’s story very soon! I missed her in this book.
Looking forward to the next books! I’m anxious for the ending!

I love the Reaper books. It's a nice addition to what is going on with the Dragon Kings. I would highly recommend you read this if you are reading the Dragon King books as this book definitely intertwines with that story. I am left with more questions then answers in this book. Another Reaper finds his perfect match. She is just what the Reapers need to look at things from a different perspective. It will be interesting to see how everything plays out.

"I can't explain why I'm drawn to you." "It's inexplicable, but it's the truth. I tried to leave, I've attempted to forget you, but I can't."

Dark Alpha's Temptation is the 9th installment of the Reaper Series. I have no read any of the previous books in this series, and after finishing this book, I have been clearly missing out. Yes, I have the worst habit of reading series like this out of order, but I will say that this book is written so well that I was able to jump in and follow right along.

Dark Alpha's Temptation was a quick and easy read for me. I enjoyed the characters and was quickly addicted to their story. I really liked the connection between Kyra & Dubham. Yes, their connection was of the insta-love type, but it totally worked for me. I felt their connection and liked how they couldn't stay away from each other. They definitely shared some steamy moments together and kept me glued to the pages to see how their story would play out.

Dark Alpha's Temptation sucked me in from the very first page. I thought this book was written and paced very well. I loved all of the paranormal aspects and the world that this author has created. This story was sexy, captivating and had some really great twists. I can definitely tell that this story is leading to a pretty epic battle and I can't wait to continue on with this series. As I previously said, I do think you could read and enjoy this book without reading any of the previous ones like I did. However, I definitely plan on catching up on the series, so that I can fully enjoy and appreciate the overall world and story.

All in all, I found Dark Alpha's Temptation to be a really enjoyable read and I look forward to reading and discovering more from this author in the future!

Reaper, and Dark Fae, Dubhan is on the search for a missing ally when he realises he's being followed by someone. Kyra, a Light Fae, has been following Dubhan ever since she saw him during a battle (which she shouldn't have been able to do). She's not sure why she can't seem to stay away from him...except maybe...could he be her fated mate?

Usaeil and Balladyn are dead...or are they? Things never seem to be cut and dried in the Fae and Reaper world. War continues to loom on the horizon. The Others are on the move. Could it be time for the Reapers to join with the Dragon Kings? Only time will tell....

Great addition to the Reaper series. I love Kyra and Dubhan and seeing some other familiar faces. Interesting things are happening. I cannot wait to see what's next.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley (and the author via Bookfunnel). My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.

Dark Alpha's Temptation by Donna Grant has a reaper on the defense, he has a bit of a stalker. That was the last thing I would have thought that this Light Fae would do to a scary Reaper. Dubhan finds that he is being followed early in the story so this is no secret. What is a surprise to him is Kyra’s boldness, goodness and resolve. Tough, intelligent and a true problem solver, Kyra dominates this book.

The well-written addition to Reaper’s overall story centers on the relationship building between Dubban and Kyra. Ms. Grant paints the emotional backgrounds of these two so clearly that it is easy to understand where they have been and why they now behave as they do.

Like the other reaper stories, Dark Alpha's Temptation does have tie-ins to the Dark King Dragons. Also while the romance is wonderful, it is even more so f a great story because of the twist near the conclusion that I didn’t see coming.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Dark Alpha’s Temptation in the ninth book in Donna Grant’s Reaper Series. Dubhan, is a Reaper, an elite assassin and part of a brotherhood that only answers to Death. Kyra, is a Light Fae who has been inexplicably drawn to Dubhan since witnessing his battle against the Trackers. Fate and their instant and explosive attraction brings them together as they work together to find the people they are searching for. But when mysterious symbols and unknown people coming hunting for Kyra, will Dubhan be able to protect the woman he’s come to love? Read it and find out!

Another great book for an already fantastic series. Donna Grant has done it again. All the books in her Reaper series contain a happily ever after and can be read as a standalone, however, reading it in order will give you a better appreciation for the characters and the series itself. I can’t wait to read the Next book in the series and I’m looking forward learning more about the Others.

I received an ebook copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

Please note that the storylines in Grant’s Dragon Kings series and Reaper Series parallel each other, and the author often continues the storyline from one series into another. Grant does a fantastic job filling in gaps for the reader, however, after reading Dark Alpha’s Temptation I found myself desperately wishing I had read Fever, the sixteenth book in the Dragon Kings’ series because, man, I missed some serious plot changing events!

Kyra has no idea why she can't seem to stop following the Reaper. Something about him has her unable to stay away. Dubhan knows someone is following him. When he first lays eyes on her he is intrigued. So he follows her home. Something about her is fascinating and confront her he will. When the time is right. Once that initial stalling is cleared up they will discover that they work well together and their chemistry is hard to ignore. The need go keep each other safe is a constant. Their journey is no different then the other Reapers and their women, the attraction is intense, there will be an element of danger and their coming together in the end will be satisfying and well deserved. There will definitely be some tidbits and nuggets for the coming war with the Others and you will not want to miss it. Satisfying and an easy read for a Saturday evening.

Dark Alpha's Temptation is a wonderful addition to this series. Reaper Dubhan meets his match in light Fae Kyra. She carries off lightness and good without being too perky or saccharine. She brings a much needed light to Dubhan’s life and a different point of view to their mission. I enjoyed this episode in an action filled adventure.
