Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for providing me with an e-ARC to read and review.
Note: this book follows Dubhan (a Reaper) and Kyra (a Light Fae).
The story is a quick read as it follows a major battle that happened in Fever (Dark Kings #16). Because of that I didn't have too many expectations going into this book (insta-love and all that) but it was still enjoyable nonetheless.
You learn more about Kyra than Dubhan, which stinks. Both are very likable people. What I love about Kyra (and I think Dubhan would agree) is her view of the world. It's very honest and refreshing. She looks on the bright side of life while still being rational. Based on what happens her type of perspective was need to being this new phase of the overall story.
As I mentioned before, Dubhan is nice but he didn't really add anything to the story. He was a plot device with no character development that tied him to Kyra and the overall plot.
The twists really got me excited for the possibilities for what might happen later on. It's almost devious and as of now I don't know how the heroes will prevail, which I'm all for. I like the direct this new phase is going. This book was a good exposition for that.
“I don’t question it. I simply let it happen.” Dark Alpha’s Temptation by Donna Grant
3 stars! Another Reaper book we have here. And I enjoyed it over mint tea with my Christmas macarons. And in between stalking Jack the Ripper (working on my NetGalley list). Aren’t they just so very Christmas?
Anyway so this one barely moves the overall arc of the world but it’s nice still. Nice how kyra can track Dubhan. And it’s good fo read about Carl and Eirith again.
Thank you St. Martin’s Paperbacks for the arc of this book! Gotta do something about the titles though. Too much use of alpha in the series’ titles
I received an ARC of this from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
And the plot thickens in the battle against the Others.... the Reapers are finding themselves being drawn in more and more to the struggle between the dragon kings and the others. I enjoyed this short installment in the series which introduces Kyra, a light Fae who may have some family ties with the Others that she is completely unaware of. She is of course, paired up with Dubhan, and it’s a good match, some interesting quirks.
The book is pretty fast paced and in the end it raises some interesting questions....where the hell is Xaneth, what happened to the bodies of Usaeil and Ballantyne after the battle, who will become king and or queen, how involved will the reapers become....etc etc.
I’m excited for the next one 8n any of the series and for the upcoming showdown.
Just when you think that you have read the last of the Reaper Novels, Donna Grant surprises with yet another one. This book is the story of Dubhan and Kyra. I sped through this book and before I knew it the book was finished and I had to decide on something else to read. We are left with lots of questions that needs to be answered and for that I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. You can't but love the Reapers.
Kyra is a Light Fae who is desperate to track down her missing aunt who has practically raised her. Determined to do whatever it takes she’s taking the unprecedented step of stalking one of the infamous Reapers ! Dubham is what many of the Fae think of as the bogeyman and when a female starts showing up repeatedly where he is he knows it’s no coincidence. The Queen of the Light is vanquished but still they cannot find her prisoner so the last thing Dubham needs is the cute Fae with ever changing appearance getting in his way but is it possible that Kyra could actually help ?
I always enjoy these stories as they give the reader hot romance set within an overall story arc that has twists galore. If you love Dragons, Fae and magic then this series is a must read. I love that the author has two series that interconnect and if you haven’t yet started her Dragon Kings books then they are definitely worth your time. This particular book focuses heavily on this couple and their romance but even then there’s a surprising twist that I hadn’t expected . As usual this is extremely easy to read and just flows so well.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
This is a Reaper story but is part of a continuing saga of the Dark Kings and Dark Warriors novels. I think this works as a stand alone but is better if you know the background. Dubhan is one of a team of reapers that serve death. Unknowingly, Kyra observes his team fighting a battle in which it appears that the leaders of the light and dark fae have been killed. The fae world is struggling without leadership and other factions are gathering together to try to control the realm. Kyra can’t stop thinking about duchan and they end up working together to invest these other factions. This is a very short book mainly focused on Kyra and Dubhan as they discover the others. I liked it. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Loved reading the fabulous and fantastic paranormal story. When Reaper Dubhan discovers someone is following him, he finds out she is a beautiful woman and Fae, Kyla. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read love story.
I reviewed a copy of the book through NetGalley.
Dark Alpha's Temptation is the next story in the Dragon King's overall story line though technically a Reaper novel. More of a love at first sight story with significantly less action, the story is hot and sweet. Kyra learns that Reapers are real and not just legend when stumbling on them in the midst of battle. All Reapers are impressive but the sexy Dubhan keeps occupying her mind. A little stalking later leads to meeting that leads to danger and a super sexy and sweet love story with some unexpected truths uncovered. New information about the Others emerges in this novel but not as much battling with them as in past Dragon King novels. A sweet and sexy love story in the Dragon King's world, the book is an easy, fast paced good feeling inducing time. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
This series just keeps getting better. Picks up right after the last dragon king book. Learning so much
Kyra has been following a Reapers since she saw him fight at the Light Castle. She can’t stop thinking about him. Dubhan knows he is being followed but doesn’t know why. When he confronts Kyra he finds a beautiful woman, both inside and out, who is curious about him. They team up to uncover the meaning behind a mysterious symbol which leads back to the Others.
Kyra and Dubhan were a cute couple. Dubhan has always been the mysterious and quiet character but he really opens up with Kyra. We finally learn about his past and why he has always been distant. Kyra was smart, beautiful, and full of hope. I really love her positive attitude and outlook on life. She really helps Dubhan open his eyes and change his thinking on life. I also thought her gift was very interesting and wonder if it will pop up in future books.
The war with the Others is continuing to ramp up. The Reapers are preparing to help the Kings to defeat them. I can’t wait to see where this war is going to go.
*ARC provided by Netgalley for an honest review.*
This is my first in the series - and I'm happy to say it is one of the few romances where the main storyline kept me completely entertained the whole way through. I was intrigued by the depth of the folklore and politics, which didn't feel at all like filler content. There was a fair bit of exposition through dense dialogue, but I felt like it was needed for readers like me that started the series with this book and needed to catch-up on the plot. I enjoyed the Light/Dark fae duo, Kyra and Dubhan, and their individual personalities were complementary and adorable. I would have preferred Dubhan being a little darker and grittier of a character to really bring out more dimensions to his dark Reaper persona, but his nice guy attitude didn't take away from my immersion. I appreciated the fact that this wasn't chock to the brim with vapid smut, and was instead a more subtle take on paranormal romance. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable read.
OMG, just as I thought that the U-bitch was finally out of the picture, now Donna has us guessing again! Sometimes I really, really don't like you Donna, because now I have to wait for another of the Reapers or Dark King Series!! If you are not familiar with those series, I think you will still enjoy Dubhan and Kyra. But the twist and turns in the story about Rhi, Xaneth and Usaeil are much easier to understand if you've read the other parts first. Which isn't a hardship at all. So, dive into this one or start from scratch:
Dubhan isn't sure why he feels he is being followed. And Kyra isn't sure what to make of the stranger she saw during an epic battle a few months ago. But she can't help but follow him, because she is convinced he is one of the infamous Reapers. Although nobody acknowledges their existence, she is sure he is one of them. And maybe he can help her find her aunt, who disappeared years ago.
But when Dubhan and Kyra's worlds collide, you can't foresee the twists of events. So, another wonderful, yet terribly frustrating book by Donna Grant. Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing this torture.
This is the first book I have read by this author, and the first book I have read in this series. After reading this book ... which is fine read as a stand alone... I will go back and read the rest of the series.
I like a strong female in a book, no whining, she stands on her own two fee! Dubhan is not to alpha male. They really work as a team to solve the mystery of the symbol.
Donna Grant has written a very entertaining novel that you will enjoy.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this book.
This series is becoming one of my favorite paranormal romance ones.
It's gripping and entertaining, action packed and with a cast of great characters.
I think it improves with each instalment and can't wait to read the next instalment.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
Reapers live a harsh life as grim assassins following Death and dispensing her kind of justice. Dubhan never expected to find someone who not only did not despise and fear him, but perceived him in quite a different way. Kyra, a light Fae, saw Dubhan in the epic battle to take out the Dark Fae Queen, Usaeil, who was ostensibly killed. Ever since then Kyra has followed her dark knight as he searched for a Fae prince gone missing who could rule both factions, Dark and Light.
Kyra has her own issues living apart from her high placed Fae family who seem to disdain her. She makes her own way trading in secrets and information. Dubhan never thought anyone like Kyra could ever be his. When he discovers that the nefarious Others are after them both, Dubhan vows to protect Kyra at all costs.
In the last book FEVER, it looked as if the evil Usaeil was destroyed; however, her body is missing so who knows whether that is true or not. The Others seem to be steps ahead of the Reapers and Dragon Kings so decisions have to made how the allies can work against them. Kyra offers some new strategies and along with her special powers, proves to be a great resource for Death and her Reapers.
This story is mainly about Dubhan and Kyra’s relationship and how it develops. Although several other characters are referenced, the focus is narrower than the Dragon Kings stories. The focus is on two lonely Fae of different realms who find a home in each other and continue to fight for their people as well as everyone the Others target in a quest for dominion over the world.
This is the first book I've read from the Reaper Series and I thoroughly enjoyed it, so the novel could easily be a standalone. However, Donna Grant has captured my attention and I plan to read the first eight books in the series too. Kyra and Dubhan's connection is hot and the author is an expert at world-building. If you're a fan of paranormal romance you'd love this book.
I loved this book. This was definitely one of my two favorites in this series (Reapers). The female protagonist was well written and independent. I enjoyed how she spoke her mind to all parties involved and stood up for what she believed in. The hero kind of took a back seat in my opinion, to Kyra, but he was intriguing as well. I Love how Donna moved the plot along with the Dragon King series, but that this series can stand alone as well.
Donna Grant always sweeps us away with her fantasy romances and this book was no exception. From the first I was hooked and kept on the edge of my seat until the last whereas I’d fallen so in love I had to hunt down the previous novels in the series. I loved the characters and excellent prose of the novel and am eagerly awaiting the next book by this wonderful writer.
This was a nice continuation from book 8. I wished I would have known that I needed to read Fever from the Dark Kings series though as someone was dead and I didn't even realize they had died because that hadn't happened in book 8 of this series. I would recommend reading this in order with all of the series as they interweave.
This book was about Dubham and Kyra's actions helped Death come to the conclusion to help the Dragon Kings and start a war with the Others. The romance between the characters was very cute but I really enjoyed how it explained more about the history of the Others and those connected to them. It was a very short title and I can not wait for the next full length novel in this series.
If you are a fan of the series I wouldn't miss this novella!!
Go Into This One Knowing: Cliffhanger, Should Read Fever (Dark Kings) First!
I LOVE this series! Donna Grant worked her magic again. Dark Alpha’s Temptation was a wonderful addition to the series and only made me want the next one!
