This is a great story. The world building is excellent. Cami is feisty and fierce. Reading her story was fun. Love a gal who can shake up the mighty alpha male.

I love this series and the recent spin off (at least I think it is connected) stories about the Kings and the Phoenix (The preview for the Rogue King at the end of this is for a currently released book, I really liked it and am waiting impatiently for the second in the series).

However, I did feel this story was slow to start and felt disjointed. The hero's damage seemed to overshadow everything which made it hard to connect to their romance.

I don't know how this would work as a stand alone as it relied a lot on the world building already done in previous stories.

This felt different from the other books in the series, in a new and exciting way! It felt like a turning point in the series, and I love that it signals even more wonderful books full of daring women and courageous men...dragons. The history behind the heroine was particularly interesting, hearing about her family and their way of life, inserting the normal into the paranormal storyline. Each story continues to capture my attention and make me wish for it to be real.

Camilla Carrillo was saved by a dragon...but all she remembers are dreams too wild to believe. Only they become more believable as weird things begin to happen around here. Fires start, seemingly out of thin air, and they seem to be ignited by her. Approached by a man who claims to be able to help her, she has no choice but to leave with him if only to save her family from the danger she might bring to them. Once safely in hiding, she learns she is a dragon's mate, only they don't know which dragon until she meets him. But what if she already has? Drake is dying, his body failing, and all hope of finding his mate in time to save his life has been lost. When he sees Camilla for the second time, he recognizes that she could save him. Only by saving him, she could be dooming herself to die with him. And that he cannot allow.

Camilla was a heroine every woman can be proud of - she held her own, stood up for what she wanted, and she didn't take Drake's crap. She recognized that he was all bark and no bite...so to speak...and his stubborn nature would get him killed. I loved how she continued to come back to him, even when he would be rude and disrespectful, because she saw it for what it was. He was trying to protect himself and her, and once he recognized that they could be mates, it got even worse. To others he might appear selfish and misguided, but his actions were born of love and desperation. It was really quite humbling to read, as his was a character who was both strong of mind and weak of heart. He needed Camilla to make his heart strong as well. They needed each other, and when they finally acknowledged that fact, it made for a beautiful romance.

The next book is, of course, going to be amazing! I can't wait to read it and learn more about the fiery world of dragons, their mates, and the newly discovered family of phoenixes.

Scorching hot and thrilling!
It's a fast read with an action and steam packed plot. That doesn't just ignite wildfires

Confusing and convoluted. There is so much deception and entanglement. It gets confusing. I really hate when the main H treats the h badly and is a jerk, It’s hard to be on his side. The story the gets more confusing with an added storyline of a Phoenix. I keep trying to like this series, but I just can’t.

I'm pretty sure that The Enforcer is my favorite Fire's Edge book.

Drake saves several humans trying to flee a farm with no way out, but instead of them freaking out (like most people who'd see a real life dragon would) one girl attempts to defend her family from this monstrous creature. He's so enthralled by her that once they're safe he shifts into his human form and that's when they both feel it...that special draw to one another, but she shows no signs of being a dragon mate so he writes it off, wipers her and her family's memories, and doesn't look back.

Cami on the other hand starts sparking fires. Luckily Rune showed up and offered her a safe haven since the last thing she needed was to finish burning down the rest of the family farm; it's not as if there was much left anyhow.

"I'll make you a deal. I'll be silent if you can smile and say thank you."

Drake, which we learned in the previous book, has health issues. He's gone too long without a mate and he's deteriorating quickly. So quickly that he decides to leave his team and crawl off to Rune's to die. But who is there to greet him...Cami.

Cami doesn't have a memory of him, but she knows she's drawn to him. Drake won't risk his failing health killing a potential mate. And there in lies the best part of the story. He's crabby. She's determined. Their chemistry pulled me in and I could not put the book down.

"Don't you see? I'd rather die with you than live without you."

Abigail's writing is amazing as ever and the storyline completely captivating. I cannot wait to see what comes next in the Fire's Edge series. One day maybe even all the couples will reunite. One can hope at least.

**I received a copy of The Enforcer from Entangled Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions were not solicited in any way and are mine alone.**

The Enforcer (Fire's Edge # 3) by Abigail Owens is the third book in her Fire's Edge series with Drake Chandali and Camilla Carillo (Who doesn't fear a dragon or fire!) I have to say this wasn't my favorite but I still loved both of the characters even though Drake took awhile to understand that Cami COULD be his mate. There is a huge pot of trouble brewing with the Dragon Kings, Alliance and Rune that will most likely have to be resolved in a future book soon. I give The Enforcer a 4.6 star rating.

Cami Carillo is desperately trying to save her family and goats when a fire surrounds their ranch so when a dragon comes to their aid she doesn't hesitate to tell him she can handle their escape. But even when a mind wipe is done she realizes that her connection with Drake is more than a one time meeting. But first she has figure out why she's sparking fire from her fingers. She contacts Rune who realizes that she's a dragon mate.

Drake Chandali knows that his time is coming to an end when he starts having weakness in his hands and wings so instead of telling Flint his Huracans team leader he goes rogue and asks for help from Rune which in turn causes anger between his team mates and the Alliance. When he realizes there's a mole as well as trying to protect Cami's family then throw in a mate you can imagine what will happen.

Oh yeah. After The Rogue King (of the Inferno Rising series) and The Boss (Fire's Edge series), I was very happy to see yet another fire breathing hot guy. Drake Chandili is dying. Even dragon shapeshifters die, when they don't find a mate. So he decides to leave his clan, before he becomes a liability to them in the war against the High King (yep, same one as from the Rogue King).
But then he encounters Cami (Camilla), the woman he had rescued some months before from a big fire at her ranch. Cami was taken in by Rune, because she started to accidentally set things on fire. Afraid she would do more damage to her family's home, she stays with the dragon.
Drake can't help but notice that his body is less broken, when he is near Cami. But surely he can't take her as a mate, because he would condemn her to death, when his body is too far gone to be restored by a mate.
Cami has had a lot to take in: shooting sparks from her body, a dragonshifter who took her away from her home and now a broody dark stranger, who she strangely finds very attractive. She wants to trust Drake, but she doesn't understand why. But when the High King comes after Cami and her family (because she is a potential mate for the King), she has to run and hide. And she has no choice but to trust the grumpy Drake to keep her safe. Sparks flying, literally. A wonderful read, with a great storyline, lots of tension and funny banter between Cami and Drake. What's not to love? Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Holy smokes the deceit and lies in this world of Dragons just keeps getting more intense as each book reveals just who is a Mate and who is the enemy. The old guard that control the way Dragons find a Mate are pushing everyone to find the one woman who can heal the rotting King. A Dragon who goes unmated for more than a thousand years slowly decays but if the King forcibly mates with the wrong woman his fire will quite literally burn her alive !
Drake understands the dangers of not finding your Mate because like his King his body is betraying him and as he doesn’t want to let his team of Enforcers down he’s prepared to leave and be considered rogue which is an automatic death sentence. It’s just too bad that the little human he recently saved during a fire happens to be where he’s hiding. Not only is Cami maddeningly annoying but she also happens to be a woman who is capable of transforming into a Dragon but it’s far too late for Drake isn’t it ?
Having started this series with the prequel The Mate I found it a lot easier to understand the politics and mating procedure than some other reviewers. If honest I really do think it’s essential reading to get the best out of this series and as I write it’s free on kindle so a definite recommendation. I liked this couple and could understand just why Drake who is stubborn and loyal really didn’t want to hurt anyone but himself. Now luckily Cami is just as stubborn as Drake is so she had no intention of ever leaving him in peace to brood and just slowly decay away. I confess I’d like more about the rotting King as he’s notably absent and his “council goons” are running the show. There are definitely those with their own agenda here but perhaps most intriguing is Rune the sneaky black Dragon who I’d definitely like to know much more about. If blunt apart from a slight alluding to a missing Phoenix and a shake up in Drakes team this particular book didn’t really move the overall plot along much but I’m hoping that the next book will combine romance with action and obviously ultimately a revolution !
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

I was given a an ARC by Netgalley for my honest opinion. The review is my own.
Death comes for everyone. Even Drake Chandali. The aging process that twists all unmated dragon shifters’ bodies into something useless has taken hold of his body centuries early. A mate could have reversed the process, but now it’s too late. To protect his team of enforcers, he leaves, and comes face to face with the woman he’d thought was human when he saved her from a fire months before.

Except she’s not human. She’s a mate.

Camilla Carrillo almost lost her family to wildfire. To discover she’s fated to mate a creature made of flame and rage, and become one herself, should be terrifying. But somehow a rightness settles inside her, especially when she’s around the glowering red dragon shifter who wants nothing to do with her.

This was an excellent book. The writing was strong and I enjoyed the interaction between Drake and Camilla. The emotional angst felt by Drake as he runs from Camilla and the emotion, I felt as a reader, fro Camilla was won. My only issue with the book was that some of the plot felt a little redundant from others in the genre. It is still a great read and you will definitely enjoy it, but it was missing that final spark.

This is a tale of dragons. All colors and clans. This book follows Drake and the woman's whose life he saves. In the midst of their falling in love, they have to keep her knowledge and presence a secret or they will be killed.

Drake is meant to die alone. A slow and painful death unless he finds his mate. He and the mate must both accept each other. If not then he will die. But if she does accept and he dies, she will as well. A good tale, one story in the midst of many. Their tale continues on.

3.5 Stars

Drake Chandali has live hundreds of years as a dragon enforcer. Now his end is drawing near because Drake has not found his fated mate. After he meets Cami while rescuing her family from a dragon set fire, Drake is immediately drawn to her, but does not think she is a mate. Later after he finds out that she indeed is a dragon mate, Drake thinks that it is too late for him even if they to complete the process of binding their lives together.

Cami has a big learning curve to figure out the whole dragons exist thing as well as being one of them. She is not too amused at Drake’s bossy manner, or his refusal to consider their joining even though it would save his life. Drake spends a good portion of the story in failing health despite his chance to live. He is constantly pushing Cami away, stubbornly refusing to admit she is his mate and can save his life. Cami is a modern young women who loves her family and refuses to give them up which is the dragon way because humans are forbidden to know about dragons.

The dragon politics in this series is quite complex and sometimes a bit hard to follow. There are good dragons, bad dragons, good dragons pretending to be bad dragons, and teams working for both sides to overthrow each other. Since their “rotting” king is willing to take the mates of others even though it kills them, more dragons are fighting against the established rulers. I liked Cami quite a bit, but I was less fond of Drake’s persistently pigheaded attitude and, at times, Neanderthal behavior. I know it is in his nature, still though, Drake pushes the limits even for his kind. This book is number #3 in the Fire’s Edge series.

This is the third book in the Fire's Edge series. Unfortunately, it just didn't do it for me like the previous book. I really liked the heroine but didn't latch onto the hero. It made me want more for the heroine. Hot sex can only take you so far when the guy is just being a dick. I also felt like the overarching story is getting really convoluted. I hope something comes to head soon in that regard.

This is book 3 in the Fire's Edge series. And it's about Drake grumpy/dying enforcer of the Huracán team of dragon shifters. The aging process is starting to affect his body and a mate could have helped reverse this process, but it's too late now. To protect his team he leaves and comes face to face with the woman he saved from a fire months ago.

Turns out she's a mate.

Camilla almost lost her family and their entire livelihood in a fire. Drake saved her and her family but she has no idea since he wiped her memory. Later, she is approached by another dragon shifter who explains that she's a dragon mate and that puts her and her family in danger. She feels settles whenever she is around Drake, even if he wants nothing to do with her.

I really enjoyed how much she pushed him out of his comfort zone. Pushing back at his grumpiness and being only herself.
Lots of action just like the book before. This is a stand-alone but it helps to know some of the backstories around the Dragon clans and The Alliance.

Received this ARC via Entangled Publishing and NetGalley.

They hide among us, fiery dragon shifters with their slow ageing process, their soul deep loyalties to their clans and their desperate search for their fated mates, for to never find them will mean certain decline and death. Drake is coming to the end of his life, he has no hope of finding his mate, so he leaves his brothers behind only to come face to face with a woman he rescued months before from a raging fire. For all of the sexual tension between them, Drake knows Camilla is human, or is she?

Camilla bears the mark of a dragon mate, yet she doesn’t even believe dragons exist, could she be Drake’s savior or has his decline gone too far to even dream of finding what his heart and soul crave? To try to turn her now could mean certain death alongside him, besides, her mark is shared by both Drake and the High King…which makes her doubly dangerous or possibly doubly strong. Could this female possess the strength to pull Drake for the brink of death? Would she even accept him?

Drake is far from an open book, he is moody, standoffish and doing his best not to encourage Cami, but you know what they say about a hard-headed woman…Cami is fierce in her love of family, of those she cares about and in her loyalty to a man who she sees clearly needs someone on his side.

Abigail Owen’s THE ENFORCER sizzles with tension, not only between Cami and Drake, but among the dragons, as well. Brilliant storytelling in a world created to fall into and believe in, page after page. Feel the heat, the passions and the turmoil as one dragon and one mate find each other only after it may be too late.

An excellent addition to this series!

I’ve read the other books in this series.
You don’t have to read the others, but it helps, it gives a little insight into where the story and characters are going (there is a story that loosely connects the books)

A quick recap ..... there are six coloured dragon kings who rule their kingdoms (as usual there is conflict) this is where the “enforcers” come in, a team of dragons (each comprising of the colours) they “police” the dragon world, dispensing justice to rogue dragons. (These dragons set fires in the human world) the enforcers go in as firemen and put out the fires (but not with hoses, they draw the fire into themselves) They don’t interact with the humans, if they have to, they wipe their memories. The humans can’t know about them.

The dragon world don’t have fertile female dragons, so they mate human women, but these women are special, if they can accept the fire a dragon breathes into them, then their life forces are connected. And the female will be able to turn into a dragon. A forced mating will kill the woman, but desperate times are making dragons force the issue. And so a band of rogue dragons are trying to rescue human women before they are taken!!!

I’ve liked Drake since reading about him in the first book, a rough and gruff dragon, one you don’t want to cross, but a loyal friend and an awesome fighter. But Drake is hiding a secret from his brothers (the dragons he calls family) he’s dying. When a dragon gets to a certain age he’s struck with a disease, and Drake has been battling it for a while. A mate could probably reverse the process, but Drake is too far gone, and if he was to find her, he won’t sentence her to an early death (their life forces are joined so when one dies, the other joins their mate). The best Drake can hope for is to die in battle or fighting a fire. Or the only other option is going rogue and forcing his team to end him.

A fire is closing in on Camilla “Cami” and her family, and the stupid herd of goats she’s trying to save aren’t helping. She hasn’t got long, and when the fire threatens to consume her beloved family, Cami has no choice but leave the goats and return to the car. But they won’t make it, they need a miracle, how will they get out of this alive?

Drake is in the vicinity (he’s fighting the fire that a rogue dragon started) he’s got no choice but rescue the family trapped but the fire. What he doesn’t bank on is the feisty female who demands he doesn’t hurt her family. (He doesn’t eat humans in his dragon form) He turns from dragon to man, and then wipes all of their minds (he’s reluctant to wipe the woman’s mind, but no one can know about dragons) setting them on their way shouldn’t bother him, but the thought of letting the woman go, pains him, he pushes himself to let her go .....

Cami is in trouble, not long after somehow escaping the fire they were racing away from, she began to emit sparks from her body (strong emotions usually caused it) she’s scared, how did this happen? Why is this happening? Maybe she’s gone crazy, maybe there is something wrong with her!! Coming face to face with death has changed her, but not to this extent surely? Cami needs answers, and they come in the form of a stranger. He calmly explains that she’s a potential mate for a dragon!! Yeah right!! Until he shows his dragon form to her!! She doesn’t really believe him, but at this point she doesn’t really have another answer.

Cami and Drake meet up again, but she doesn’t know who he is (but she thinks she knows him) Drake knows her, and he’s stunned, she was a dragon mate, how could he not have known? Probably the disease that is now ravaging his body. He’s left the only family he’s known and had come to Rune (the traitor dragon who steals potential mates from the Alliance) He needs a purpose until he can’t fight anymore (oh I forgot to tell you, Rune use to be his friend and second in command to the team Drake was in)

Cami is sure she is Drake’s mate, Drake knows it deep down she is too, but he’s not going to claim her, she could die if he’s wrong, she could die if he did mate her, he won’t sentence Cami to death. So in Drake manner he keeps pushing her away.

The story is a fast paced action read. The Alliance is not happy that Rune keeps helping human women evade them. And they are suspicious of the Huracan (that’s the name of the group) they keep finding women and mating them (law states they have to come to the a Alliance and receive a mate!!)

I like this series and I can’t wait to read the next one. I like we keep in touch with previous mates couples. We have a group of unmated dragons (and now a few rogue dragons) that fight fires and an Alliance that is watching them carefully.

This is part of a series and connected to another, but it can be read as a stand-alone. The author does a good job of filling in what has happened before without an information dump that slows the story down. The story moves along pretty fast with action, suspense, twists, shifters of more than just the dragon kind, and romance. Just when you think you know what is going to happen, the story takes a twist. There are a lot of people keeping secrets, but they can't stay hidden forever. Changes are coming to the world of dragons and those currenly in power aren't giving up easily. The path to Drake and Cami's happily ever after is hard won and takes a lot of help from others to get there. This is a wonderful and exciting story all by itself. The Fire's Edge series and its connected Inferno Rising series has created a world that is amazing, shocking, and makes you anxious for the next book to come out.

I love the Fire's Edge and Inferno Rising series from Abigail Owen. This is the third book in the Fire's Edge series and it builds into what we have already seen and there is a cross over with the first Inferno Rising series (which seems to take place at roughly the same time as this one and there are some cross over events). This book does work as a stand-alone, but really you should read the other books first, just because they are so good.
The Enforcer is Drake, he's never found his mate and now he's slowly dying, even though the degeneration shouldn't have started to take place for another couple of hundred years. Not wanting to endanger his 'family' the Huracán team of dragon enforcers, he leaves them, becoming a rogue dragon. There he meets Camilla, a woman that he had saved previously, not realising that she was a dragon mate.
I loved the romance between Cami and Drake. She not only gives as good as she gets but quite often has the upper hand where Drake is concerned. He's a grumpy old sod and really needs someone who is able to push him out of his comfort zone and challenge him. Of course, being his mate there is a happily ever after here, but they both need to work for it and really find out that they are 'the one' for each other.
I can't wait for more in this series and in Inferno Rising. I think I know who were are going to read about next in both series. I just hope that I haven't got too long to wait until I can.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Drake is facing his end. After a slow decline and not finding his dragon mate the aging process has begun for him, forcing a decision to leave his team. A chance meeting with the courageous Cami after saving her from a dragon fire could spark hope for him and his dragon. Cami has never heard of a dragon, much less a dragon mate but to save her family she must leave them. Along the way Cami and Drake meet up again as they both search for a way to protect their families. This is a continuation of the dragon series and while you’ll have a greater understanding if you read the previous books the author does give plenty of insight to what happened before so first timers can still enjoy the book. There’s a lot of sexual tension between the two main characters but little actual bedroom time, although there’s still enough tenderness to build a relationship. There’s also a lot of drama going on within the series and lots of familiar characters. This is a nice paranormal dragon story and I can’t wait for more. 5 stars. I received an arc copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.
