I tried to finish this book several times but unfortunately couldn't relate to either of the main characters. They both seemed spoiled and I just couldn't invest myself beyond the 30% point. The heroine seemed especially immature, and while I am hoping her character grows throughout the book - I felt like I wasn't invested in her HEA or the hero's.

I loved these characters! Rhett Braddock is still a little boy screaming to be loved. He has some abandonment issues that he cannot seem to shake and they rear their heads when he returns to his hometown. Julianna Holt has always been the little sister and treated like a child by everyone. When Rhett buys the Holt farm to help out, Jules feels like she was passed over due to no one looking at her as an adult. As with the first Silverlake Ranch book, parts of the story were slow to get in to. That being said, I really enjoyed this story and the characters.

Rhett Braddock left Silverlake when he was younger and he never expected to come back. He made a name for himself and he is very rich and powerful. And he is used to women being impressed with him. But Jules is not one of those women, she acts like she hates him. Maybe how he acted after their one night stand has something to do with that.

Jules has always had a crush on Rhett for as long as she can remember. But he has always been her brother’s friend and she was just the annoying younger sister. But one night, they got together, and it was wonderful. Until the next morning, when Rhett could not leave quick enough. Now he is back, and Jule is not happy about it at all.

Rhett has come back to help his friend by buying some of his property and helping him out. But Jules is not happy, she was completely blindsided by the deal and she wanted to have some say in what was going on. She has a lot of ideas, but her dad will never listen to her. Rhett and Jules need to learn to work together if they are ever going to get past their problems and make this new arrangement work. And they will also have to work out their one night stand drama, and hope no one (especially Jule’s brother) never finds out.

The characters are well developed and well rounded. I liked the bickering and banter between Jules and Rhett, they could both dish it out pretty good. The secondary characters were also very well developed and they added a lot to the story.

This is a sweet romance that explored family relationships and the ability to forgive and move on. There was humour, there was romance, there was sadness and there was forgiveness. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted romance and I am going to read the other books in this series.

I liked this romance, but didn't love it. Liked the ranch setting, the animals, the fact that Jules was a hard, smart worker with a good heart. Loved Rhett! He was just a sweetheart even though he did mess up in the beginning.

There were a lot of characters and it was hard to keep track of them all, lots of extraneous bits. I think the story could've been edited down, because it seemed long and my attention wandered. I ended up skimming a lot. Wasn't a fan of Jules' family treating her like an incompetent child. Her mother's judgemental attitude was annoying.

For those interested, this was a clean romance with fade to black sex scenes.

I adored Liza Kendall’s first Silverlake Ranch book, Walk Me Home, so I couldn’t wait to see what the authors had in store for the billionaire Braddock brother, Everett. I eagerly dove into Home with You ready to fall in love with Rhett and Jules. The good news is, I did love Rhett. The bad news? I didn’t love his story or the woman he fell in love with.

To start things on a positive note, Rhett was far more endearing than I thought he’d be, given the way his siblings talked about him in the previous book. After the death of his parents, Rhett was forced to leave Silverlake and attend a boarding school in order to capitalize on his brilliant mind and set him up for success. Unfortunately no one ever asked Rhett what he wanted, which was to be at home with his remaining family and become a rodeo cowboy. Still, Rhett became a glowing success, a self-made billionaire who uses his wealth and status as armor. He’s smart, hardworking, and super sexy, but also quite vulnerable. It was easy to fall in love with Rhett. Is he perfect? No. But his mistakes come from an honest place of trying to do right by everyone, even if sometimes misunderstands what the right thing to do is.

One of the things Rhett does is return to Silverlake and buy Holt Stables as a favor to his best friend, Grady, and his family. Only no one told Julianna Holt, Grady’s sister and Rhett’s one night stand that went horribly wrong the morning after. Jules is furious that her dream of one day taking over the family business has been shattered, even though she’s guaranteed a lifetime job as manager. I understood why she was furious at first because her parents and brother treat her like a child and don’t listen to her ideas for the stables. The problem is, the longer the book went on the more I realized that maybe the Holt family treats Jules like a child because she acts like one. She’s selfish, rude, and can’t even be bothered to take care of basic things all other adults do, like buy necessities. I gave Jules a lot of leeway to begin with (1) because of her history with Rhett and (2) I don’t mind deeply flawed characters so long as they grow. To me, Jules never grew as a character. The only time she considered anyone other than herself was when her aunt advised her, but even that was problematic. Her aunt Sue has a terrible and tragic backstory that has made her cynical and though that’s completely understandable, Jules should be aware enough not to follow Sue’s advice. Honestly, Jules’s love of animals was pretty much her only redeeming quality.

The romance between Jules and Rhett is a struggle for me to believe. I don’t understand why he falls for her and there’s a plot twist you can see coming that was aggravating because it forces their hands rather than requiring them to act like adults and come together naturally. There was so much false drama and quite a bit of sexism coming from secondary characters that I grew frustrated. I hate to say it, but I finished Home with You feeling like Rhett would be better off without Jules. Perhaps if they had spent some actual time as a couple their love story would have been more believable. Instead, it felt like their happy ending was shoved in at the end in a rather tone-deaf way given the incredibly emotional, heartbreaking scene that preceded it.

Despite the fact that Home with You made me angry at some points, I’m still looking forward to reading more Silverlake Ranch novels. There were things I enjoyed about this book: Rhett repairing his relationship with his siblings, his love for his old horse that made me cry buckets, and I do like the authors’ writing. But this book simply wasn’t my cup of tea and I wish Rhett had been given a more satisfying love story.

Have you ever read a book that pulled out of you every emotion you could feel? Well, this is one of those books for me. I'm going to try my hardest to review this book without giving to much about the book away. I have when reviewers give you big plot points.

If you've read the first book in this series you know that this family, the Braddock's have some issues. All is not happy in their world. By the second book, it almost seems worse. Which is one of the reasons I felt so much reading it! I spent a lot of time yelling at the characters. Ha! I know that seems horrible but for me, it makes for a good book. Life is messy and oftentimes confusing.

I really liked Rhett. There was just something about him. Part of me wanted to give him a hug and the other part of a slap upside the head. His past wasn't always a happy one but it did form him. He at times came off as being a big shot but he really wasn't that way. In fact, he is a very caring person who doesn't like to admit to his own feels. He wants so badly to have people care about him and feels they don't. With good reason.

I really at times had an issue with Julianna. She could rub me wrong. I felt the way she treated Rhett was so wrong, It's not his fault her family didn't believe in her. To be honest I don't know how she dealt with her family and the way they treated her like she was a child. But that aside it wasn't a reason to treat Rhett like she did.

I did like how the people in this story started to work out their issues. Things came out and were dealt with. I know I might have made it sound like I didn't like this book but that's far from what I felt. I really loved it. I enjoy when authors bring real issues into their books and make you pissy about it.

I can't wait to read the next one and I would have to say that when you read this series do so in order. It makes the stories better. Drop me a line when you've read this one and let me know what you thought of it.

Home With You is a fun read with just the right amount of strife between Rhett and Julianna. She's bullheaded but not without reason. He's carrying a huge chip on his shoulder. Also not without reason. This is a tale of people so perfect for each other they can't fight it forever. It was great to watch their back and forth and growth throughout. Both also have lots to work out with their families and their interactions definitely added to the story. I enjoyed the book.

Home With You by Liza Kendall is the 2nd book in her Silverlake Ranch series. I enjoyed the first book in this series, and I am happy to say that I loved this one too, and have added Liza Kendall to my list of must-read authors for fun pure romances.

Rhett Braddock, our hero, returns to Silverlake, Texas after being away for many years. He returns to help his best friend, Grady, whose father is ill and has fallen on hard times financially; Rhett, who is now very successful and wealthy, buys some of the Riggs land, mostly the stables/horses; bringing back wonderful memories, especially of Frost, his horse before he left town, who his brother sold to the Riggs. Rhett is also determined to mend fences with his family, Jake, Lila and Declan.

Julianna Riggs, our heroine, is shocked when she discovers that her father sold part of their ranch to Rhett, since she is the one who handles the stables and the horses. Jules tries to avoid Rhett, as she has never forgotten their one night stand a few months ago, when Rhett walked out before she woke up. She has always had a crush as a teenager on Rhett, but she hates him right now. Every chance she sees him, she is very belligerent and angry that he has taken away her rights as being in charge of the horses. Rhett, knows he was wrong leaving her that night, but he feared that his best friend would turn on him if he knew about his one-night stand with his baby sister. Rhett, does everything in his power, to make Jules understand, and tells her she is still in charge running the stables; he just wants to help increase the profits for the Riggs ranch, and spend his own money to improve things. Despite all of that, Jules still gives him a hard time, even if she feels the attraction to Rhett very much still there.

What follows is a wonderful heartwarming and emotional small-town romance with a couple we loved from the start. I loved Rhett and Jules, but throughout most of the book, we were not sure if they could ever get past their issues. Rhett’s fears of worrying about Grady’s reaction, incensed Jules, each time they react on their feelings for each other, constantly pushing them back another step. I loved seeing Jake and Charley again, and Lila was a hoot throughout the book, especially trying to push Rhett and Jules together. It was wonderful to see Rhett and Declan finally come to terms and be the close brothers they once were. I also got a kick out of Jules dog, Beast, and loved Rhett’s feelings for Frost, his old horse. There are some emotional moments.

Home With You is an emotional sweet romance that brings together a couple that was destined to be, and a family that needed to pull together from the past and forgive. Liza Kendall has created a wonderful group of secondary characters, whom I look forward to learning about them all in future books. If you enjoy pure romances with a family and small-town background, I suggest you read Home With You.
