A pretty good read. However the author does leave something unanswered that is driving me nuts because I need to know the answer as to what happened!!

I am often a fan of Barbara Delinsky’s books, but I have to say that this was one of her better novels.
Mallory is heading to the Rhode Island home she left twenty years before when a tragedy forced her to go to New York to create a life for herself there. With her is her 13 year old daughter, Joy, who is looking forward to meeting her aunt, Anne, and her grandfather, Tom. Mallory doesn’t share her enthusiasm but is returning after getting a call from a neighbor warning her about her father’s erratic behavior. This week at the shore will be anything but a vacation.

A Week at the Shore was so hard for me to really get into. I tried so hard, and started to like characters, but then the awkward lecture on how pit bulls are misunderstood really killed the flow for me and I had to just stop.

This book was awesome. I really enjoyed the character development and the back story but I think there needs to be another book that continues the story because I was left with many questions after finishing the book.

An easy summer read although a little slow for me in places.
Easy plot to follow but still rich enough to be interesting and plenty of different characters to like and dislike. A story about difficult family relationships (who doesn't have those) with plenty of difficult past emotions to get to grips with.
An easy to read book to relax with but will intrigue at the same time.

I wanted to be on that beach, sitting by the fire and collecting shells. There is lots of family drama with this story.

When I'm looking for a feel-good story I will get lost in, Barbara Delinsky is one of those authors I turn to, This book about three sisters, an ex-boyfriend from the past, and an emotional present navigating the health and future of a family patriarch, the story does not disappoint. I often found myself getting emotional as I could identify with the heart of the story, an aging and ailing father who needs the support of his daughters.

Barbara Delinsky is excellent at writing about family drama. And this book does not disappoint. When you factor in the mystery aspect, this makes for an entertaining read. The family relationships are fraught with emotion. I fell in love with Mallory’s daughter, Joy. She helped bring healing and a sense of fun and excitement.

This is Barbara Delinsky at her best and I highly recommend you add this to your to-be-read list.

While I understand from reading reviews that Delinsky's books are "slow burns", this one took a lot for me to get into - it was almost a little too slow to start out for me! Mallory is a single mom to Joy, a teenager that reeaallly wants to go back to her mother's family Rhode Island beach house where some sort of family scandal took place 20 years ago. One day Mallory gets a call from the former love of her life, Jack, telling her that her father, who is suffering from Alzheimer's, was just at his house waiving a gun around.. Rather begrudgingly, Mallory & her daughter Joy make the journey back to help her father and end up confronting ghosts from her past.
I loved Delinsky's descriptive writing and definitely wanted to be there at the shore with the characters! Despite that, it still moved a bit slow for me but I did enjoy it overall.

A Week at the Shore by Barbara Delinsky was a great read. This is my first book by her, and I will be reading more in the future.

This book was well paced and never felt slow. I finished it in two sittings.

Delinsky has a gift for writing characters and original stories. Her characters were unique and wonderfully constructed in that none of them were perfect, but on the flip side, I did not dislike them either. They felt so real. It has been a long time since I have found characters like that, and it was one of my favourite components of the book.

The story was a mix of mystery, drama, family dynamics, and much more. I found some of it predictable, and there were also plot twists I did not see coming. The story was also unique, and not like anything I have ever read previously.

Overall, this was a very well balanced book between the characters and the storyline. I cannot wait to read more books by Barbara Delinsky!

This family drama was a highly anticipated book that I had been saving for a vacation week while I spent a week at the shore. However, it just didn’t quite do what I had hoped. There’s some drama and little mystery that tie this book together, but I found it to be a slow moving read, in terms of the plot.

Barbara Delinsky never disappoints, and A Week at the Shore is another home run! I would highly recommend this book, and have, to all of my book loving friends.

With everything going on in this world, I started and stopped this book a few times. But, once I got into the right head space I was able to power through and I'm so glad I did. There were a few storylines going on in this book and at some points, I had to re-read a section or two to figure it out. However, that did not detract from the goodness that is a Barbara Delinsky book. I have been a long-time fan and will always gravitate to her books. This book was about more than second chances with first loves. It was also about second chances with siblings to right perceived and actual wrongs. It was suspenseful with the added mystery of the disappearance of Jack's mother Liz who was with Mallory's father Tom on a boat in the middle of a fast moving squall. As the mystery unfolds, the relationships of the all characters fracture and repair, and although enormous secrets are revealed, they all come to terms with their past and move on.

This is the story about family- "the good, the bad, and the ugly." It was a good read for me except for the explicit sex content (yuk!!!)
An easy and quick read.

Perfect summer read. The characters are well drawn and vivid and the story is relatable for many women. The intricacies of family relationships are explored deftly - Father and daughter; Mother and daughter, Sisters. The shoreline setting is beautiful and the perfect escape for all.

Thank you to St Martin's Press and NetGalley for a gifted copy of this book. I DNF'd about 20% in. The story was just not compelling enough for me to continue. I skimmed some pages and even towards the end, it was the same dialogue between characters.

This is the second Barbara Delinsky book I have read, and it certainly won’t be my last. ‘A Week at the Shore’, incorporates, Mystery, Romance and a Coastal beach setting.; Three ingredients For the making of a good summer read. The book is set on a beach town in Rhode Island, with family drama and long lost love. Although I would have preferred the ending to have tied up a few more loose ends, Ms Delinsky’s characters are relatable and her writing style perfect for an easy beach read. I will definitely seek out some of Ms Delinsky’s earlier books.

A Week at the Shore is a story of family complexities and love in its many forms. Follow the winding shore to an ending that leaves you shocked and content at the same time.

Barbara Delinsky gives you a great novel to sink your teeth into. A perfect read for a long, relaxing weekend.
