Barbara Delinsky always delivers a good family drama. The story of three sisters who return to their family home on Rhode Island after 20 years, combines drama and mystery and makes for a great read.I definitely reccommend this books! Thanks to Net Galley and St. Martin's Press for the pre-release copy to read and review.

Barbara Delinsky's latest novel, A Week at the Shore portrays the complexities of a family with hidden secrets. The story dynamics will keep the reader going and provide an engaging novel. While not a light beach read it will be good for the summer season with the setting based at the shore. The book ends a bit abrubtly leaving the reader hanging, possibly for a sequel that could easily tie up some loose ends of the story. Delinsky's fans will enjoy this one. While not a fast read, it's a good read.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Mallory Aldriss has not been back to her childhood home in 20 years. Her father is ill and she has 2 estranged sisters. She and her 13 year old daughter Joy travel back to her hometown. Joy is excited to spend time with the grandfather she has never met.
While there, old flames return, the sisters have it out, and new discoveries come to light about her father and what happened one fateful night long ago.
This book did not disappoint. I have enjoyed other books by this author and enjoyed this one too! Recommend for those looking to escape in a book.

Mallory Aldiss gets a call from the former love of her life Jack Sabathian. Her father, who is suffering from Alzheimer's, was just at his house waiving a gun around. So despite a lot of ill will, Mallory & her daughter Joy jump in the car and head to her former home. Her younger sister Anne lives with their dad but he has become too much to handle for her alone, and she also owns a restaurant in town, so she is trying to do it all. Then their older sister Margo finds out Mallory has come down there so she shows up as well, and the showdown really begins. The three sisters are so different and have so many resentments built up that need to be resolved. To top it off, the feelings Mallory had for Jack have come rushing back and she has no idea what she is supposed to do with that, when her life is in New York City, not there in Rhode Island.
I have to admit that I had a bit of a hard time getting into this book. There was so much heavy "stuff" packed into the story that it was almost depressing at first. But once I was able to get into it the story picked up and some lighter storylines were added to make it not as depressing. There is lots of family drama, some romance & a bit of unresolved mystery. It isn't the light beach read I was expecting, but it is still something I enjoyed and would definitely recommend.

I am late to reviewing the latest Barbara Delinsky book. Thought I wish I could have enjoyed this book at the beach, it was still a great read here at my house (during a stay at home order). I am never disappointed with one of her books. This was a great read. Thanks to the publisher and Net Galley for the advanced copy.

Can you really go home again? And what will you find there?
Mallory left home some 20 years ago after a tragic accident. Unmarried but with a thirteen year old daughter, she has built a successful life for herself as a photographer of real estate in New York City. Between a phone call warning about her father's worsening dementia and Joy's begging to meet her grandfather, Mallory agrees to "A Week at the Shore."
Besides a story filled with complications, there is much that readers can relate to their own lives. And, of course, there is a renewed love story.
The perfect Chic-Lit book to take along to the beach this summer.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this early release in exchange for my honest review. Due to be published May 19, 2020.

This was an enjoyable beach read.
Family is complicated and things aren’t always what they seem. Then comes illness of a parent and a return “home”. Family secrets are brought to light and an old love is renewed.
An honest look at parent and sibling relationships and bonds that can’t be broken. Friendships that are more like family and renewed loves and even a relationship that is unexpected between one sister and a former bad boy.

Another great read by Delinsky! I really enjoy her books because of the strong, realistic storytelling. This one had great characters and a strong story line. It touched on family issues, health issues and truth. I will continue to read everything that Delinsky writes! Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

Amazing book!! This book is one of my new favorite feel good books. You just fell in love with the characters. Definitely one I will reread!

I love everything Barbara writes and this story was no exception!! Wonderful warm characters! Highly highly recommend

Can you believe this is my first Barbara Delinsky novel? She is a wonderful writer!
This one started off a bit slow but then took right off. I was so immersed into the story and family drama. This story had a bit of everything. A beautiful setting on the shores of Rhode Island, a diverse set of characters in a dysfunctional family and a pinch of mystery.
This is the story of three sisters who return to their family home in Rhode Island after twenty years of being away. Their father is now sick and there are family issues and questions that still need to be answered.
A perfect "beach" read but with a lot of substance!

Barbara Delinsky does it again! She put me inside this family with her words so I could feel and think and see their lives.
It is a magnificent story about three sisters and each of their lives. There is everything in this book from love- betrayal- family- secrets and how it all fits together to give a story that will stay with you long after you have read the last sentence.
Thank you to NetGalley, Barbara Delinsky and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC to read and review.

A good read about a woman, Mallory, who returns to her hometown for a week to check on her father who has Alzheimer’s. She and her former boyfriend, Jack, try to solve the mystery surrounding his mother’s disappearance twenty years ago. There are many secrets that come out of this dysfunctional family. I received an ARC from St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for my honest review.

This is a good read by Barbara Delinsky. We get to escape back to the shore with Mallory and Joy in this one. A read that will have you longing for the beach for sure.
Mallory left home twenty years ago and has not been back since. When a phone call from back home sends her mind to thinking, she and her daughter Joy take a trip back home for a week. Joy is not a teenager and has never meet her grandfather or seen the place her mother grew up so she is excited to go with her mom back home.
One of Mallory's sisters is still at home and takes care of her father, which is harsh as always. There are health concerns with her dad that are being ignored by him as well as her sister that is living with him. The house has been let go and her dad comes and goes with his memory. Their parent's divorced after a good friend came up missing. The boy next door, which was Mallory's fling for several years, is the one who called her and suggests that her dad has a gun. Mallory is determined to find out for sure if her dad has a gun in the house or not. Jack, the boy-next-door, is a vet now and is making Mallory face the truth with what he is telling her. He wants her to quit running from the past and to face it head on.
Mallory goes through lots of stuff at the house and learns truths none of the sister's ever knew. Will all this bring the family back together or split them up even more? You have to read this well written book to find out. You will not regret picking this one up and letting Barbara Delinsky take you back to the shore for a few days with Mallory and her family.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book and all opinions are my own. Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an advanced copy of this book. It was a great read!

I have loved every book I have read by Barbara Delinsky, and this one is no exception. This is a beautifully written family story, love story, and it is set at the beach-what's not to like? Reading it provided a lovely little escape for me in the midst of this pandemic we are living through-I highly recommend it. Thanks for the free advance copy!

I always look forward to a Barbara Delinsky book. A week at the shore did not disappoint, It touches upon family, love, friends, secrets and lies.

Delinsky is like coming home after a long trip. Her books just feel right. A Week at the Shore was a pleasure to read. The characters were welcoming and the plot was inviting. I couldn't imagine a better written plot or storyline. Her writing is so on point. It's just incredibly good. Her writing would also appeal to a wide variety of readers. This would be an easy book to recommend and it would be particularly good for a vacation read. I would definitely recommend this to both customers and readers of my blog!

A week at the shore is an intriguing story about a family with lots of questions and unanswered questions. They may never learn the answers as the only person that can is starting to show signs od dementia. Can the sisters rebulld their luves and find some of these answers. You'll enjoy finding out. Lots of twists with these interesting characters.

A book about 3 sisters being brought back together after 20 years to their family beach home. Secrets and lies, jealousy are just a few things enter into this story. Past meets present . A very enjoyable read .

A Week at the Shore by Barbara Delinsky is a beautifully written novel that explores the roles that we assume in our families. How do those relationships change or stay the same after tragedy strikes? Are these roles meant to last out lifetime? This book was about sisters, going home and the possibility of forgiveness. For good measure there is a father who is a curmudgeon, a mystery and an old love. And if that was not enough, Barbara Delinsky throws in a little mystery. I have been a huge fan of Barbara Delinsky for years and this book did not disappoint. I read this book rather quickly because it held my interest (despite it being 400+ pages) This story definitely makes you think about your own familial relationships.
I would like to thank St. Martin’s Press, Barbara Delinsky and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
