I love this whole series! It's so refreshing to get some new biographies about current and popular athletes with colorful, attractive covers with very manageable content. These will all be perfect for our kiddos, and this in particular during Olympic season!
I love these biographies of athletes. My students will often love one of them and go on to read the others.
This book is of course, about the incredible gymnast athlete Simone Biles. It begins with her difficult upbringing, living in foster homes and dealing with an addicted mother and absent father. All the books in this series, including this one, then spend most of the book describing the training and process which made the athlete great.. For students, who often want life to be easy, it is nice for them to be reminded of the hard work people have done to get to where they are. Throughout the book and at the end, there are graphic novel narratives.
This book combines two of my students' favorite things: biographies and Simone Biles. Simone has always been a hero to the kids I teach, especially to the aspiring gymnasts in my classes--I can't wait to share this book with them!
