I jumped into The Undertaker’s Daughter series (trilogy?) with The Darkness We Hide – Book 3. Author Debra Webb did a good job catching me up with the main points of what had transpired in the previous books but I now I wish I’d read those – so I may circle back at some point.
This book left me breathless as Rowan, Billy and others pursued the serial killer, Julian Addington. Debra Webb’s novel is fast-paced with action and clues and red herrings. As you’d expect with a thriller involving a serial killer there are super creepy things happening right up to the last pages which made me really appreciate the epilogue.
I discovered Debra Webb’s books a couple of months ago and I’m a fan. I can’t wait to read more from this prolific (thank goodness!) author.
Loved this series, the characters are great and the plots fast paced and exciting.A fitting finale with the usual surprising twists.
I found this book to be interesting. It was full of mystery and at some times quite suspenseful. It had twists and turns that I never saw coming!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was a really satisfying ending to the series. It was filled with suspense and excitement and the writing was really good. I have read other books by this author and have always enjoyed them.
I am a huge fan of this Author. Amazing continuation. While this book can be read as a standalone I have read them all. Dr. Rowan DuPont and Chief Billy Brannigan are trying to live their lives but the threat that is Julian Addington continues to instill fear in both of them. Twists and turns galore in this story. Of the possible co-conspirators, I picked the wrong one! I highly recommend reading this Author. Many thanks to NetGalley, to Harlequin for the invitation and to the Author for allowing me to read and review this book.
Dr. Rowan Dupont is the undertaker’s daughter. She was raised understanding death, a natural progression, until her twin died and her mother took her own life. Why wasn’t she enough to keep her mother from leaving? Rowan is living in the family funeral home with her lover, Police Chief Billy Brannigan. Things are good, but she knows that serial killer Julian Addington is still out there even after she wounded him in their last encounter. As she continues investigating the information surrounding her mother’s earlier life as well as her mother’s family, she looks for answers that may help her deal with Julian when he returns…which he surely will. A stunning ending to this fascinating series. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
Third in the series another outstanding addition to the series. Full of twists and turns a true page turner kept me reading late into the night highly recommend this series.#netgalley#harlequinbooks
The conclusion to The Undertaker's Daughter series goes out with a bang! I was up half the night finishing, I just couldn't put it down. I've been so invested in Rowen and Billy since the beginning. All the questions are answered. The mystery is intense and full of shocking twists. I was wrong about three quarters of my guesses. I love a book that can take me by surprise and this one delivers. Full of tension, action, suspense, and the right amount of romance. A very satisfying end to a great series.
Dr Rowan DuPont has been looking over her shoulder in fear of serial killer Julian Addington. Addington is obsessed with Rowan and has been tormenting her for years. The FBI agent on the case is convinced Rowan is not telling everything she knows. This is an edge of your seat suspense. Lots of secrets are revealed which explain Addingtons obsession. I couldn’t stop turning the pages to see what would happen next. This book is part of a series but could easily stand alone. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
I am a huge fan of The Undertaker's Daughter series and Dr. Rowan Dupont.
The Darkness We Hide is another solid effort from Debra Webb. I don't think it was my favourite of the series, but definitely well written with a satisfying ending.
Dr. Julian Addington has reappeared in Rowan & Billy's lives after a few months of laying low. Rowan is desperate to find him and get answers about her mother's past. Sometimes you need to be careful what you wish for....can she handle the truth? Will Julian be brought to justice before more people end up dead?
Pick up #TheDarknessWeHide by @DebraWebbAuthor to find out! Thank you to #Netgalley and #HarlequinBooks for an advanced reader's copy.
Book series are my favoriteee! I love how series can have the effect of “going on another adventure” with your favorite characters and this one was no expectation!
As I mentioned in my previous review for The Lies We Tell, I absolutely fell in love with Rowan and Billy. The other book, if I remember correctly, left me wanting more as not the whole story was “finish” but this book I feel like was a perfect finally. However, I hope that is not the case as I really love this book series!
Also, I really really recommend reading this series in order. I started with book 3 and kind of regret it! In this one, we really get a deep dive into Rowan family and where she came from, and it answers most question the reader could have since book #1. Also, we can see the relationship developing with Rowan and Billy and Rowan and Charlotte which I really appreciate, as you know Mystery and Romance are my all-time favorite genre. This book is definitely a page-turner, enough that I had a book hangover afterwards.
In hopes of not spoiling anything I will just say, read this series, but start with book #1…now ..go !
What a satisfying ending to a great series! Debra Webb knocked it out of the park with this third installment! Full of intense drama and edge of your seat suspense. I finished this book in two settings, I did not want to put it down. If you are looking for a captivating series, check out all three books. Looking forward to what new books are coming our way from the outstanding Debra Webb!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of the book.

Another solid installment in the Undertakers Daughter series. I've really enjoyed getting to know the characters and have liked seeing how they've evolved over the last three books. I loved the storyline. Well -written, well- developed characters.
Defnitely recommend this series and author.
Thank you #netgalley and #HARLEQUIN – Trade Publishing (U.S. & Canada) #mirabooks for the eARC.
I have enjoyed this series and book three was no exception! It was everything you could want out of a serial killer thriller- fast paced, disturbing, twisty, and adrenaline inducing. The ending was a heart pounding finish and I loved it! The character development throughout this series has been excellent and the conclusion of this book was a beautiful testament to that. The author is adept at ramping up the suspense and I was on the edge of my seat in apprehension. 4 ⭐️ Thank you to the publisher for the advance reader in exchange for my honest review.
This book has a lot of twist and turns to it.. It's very dark and in places gruesome. Very thought provoking. I enjoyed it although I did continue having thoughts about it after I had finished it. #TheDarknessWeHide #NetGalley
Dr. Rowan DuPont is settling into her new life back home in Winchester, TN running the funeral home her family has run for generations and trying to come to grips with the loss of her father, Anxious to learn the truth about her mother’s involvement with a known serial killer who is now targeting Rowan, she decides to learn the truth and end this killer’s reign of terror for good.
Debra Webb has written some of the best southern crime books that I have read in the last few years. Webb blends fiction into real life environments in a way that few authors are able creating authentic characters and backdrops for her stories. I have not read the first books in this series but this book stands on its own, however, I will be going back to read the first two books and the prologue. I highly recommend this series.
Webb picks up the story of Dr. Rowan Dupont, now home and living in her family’s funeral home with police chief Billy Brannigan. But she’s still unable to relax into her new life because serial killer Julian Addington is still at large. A showdown is coming and Rowan will have to fight to the death to protect the ones she loves. Webb is a consistently good writer, balancing her mysteries with just a touch of romance
