I didn't enjoy this one as much as I thought I would. I struggled to finish I think because there are just so many books like it on the market. It didn't really offer anything new so couldn't hold my interest.

With the current situation and the forced pause of regular life/schedule for most of us, this is a timely message as we quiet our souls to take account of what has taken priority in our life. Especially now, it is important we put Jesus Over Everything. Lisa Whittle always brings the Word and I enjoy her honest transparency as she tackles each of the topics in her book. Jesus must be over all the things in our lives in order for us to truly live out the message of the Gospel.

I appreciated Lisa Whittle's book, Jesus Over Everything. I've heard her speak on podcasts and have read short articles online, but this was her first book that I have read. She did a fantastic job encouraging readers to continually choose Jesus, again and again and again, over other things in our lives that try to pull us away from him. I thought the theme emphasis of this over that - like holiness over freedom and steady over hype was a powerful approach. I was encouraged to go to Jesus, and go to the Word for my hope instead of to the world. Some parts of this book felt a bit repetitive, but overall I thought this was an encouraging and challenging book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced ebook copy. All opinions are my own.

This morning I finished Jesus Over Everything by Lisa Whittle. I appreciated how real the author was and I found this to be a quite convicting read. Although, she offers some examples of things she has done in her life in order to put Jesus first, I would not say this read is a step by step guide nor do I think it should have been. In the authors words, this book is more of a kickstart to encourage the reader to pray and seek transformative change in his or her own life. I definitely see myself rereading this book in the future. She gives the reader a lot of things to think about and I know I missed some along the way.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

JESUS Over Everything (JOE) is a CHOICE! This book by Lisa Whittle shows you that. It also pictures what JOE looks like and how it plays out in our everyday life!

Oh my! She “spoke truth in love“ to my heart and my life. The best thing is...it started by pointing out what wa Read full review

Have you read this book? Do you want to walk with Jesus every day? Are you looking for encouragement to walk with Jesus? Lisa’s stories will allow you to see more clearly and stir up your faith to walk daily with Jesus.
Here’s a few lines from the book:

Jesus over everything lifestyle is: Jesus take over me and my lifestyle so I don’t ruin my precious life. Understanding that the priority of Jesus brings order to the chaos of our lives, a job only God is big enough to be able to do.

“The true success of a person is not in if she can make her life work; it’s if she can die to her life enough for Jesus to work in her.”

Ummm… Get out of my business Lisa Whittle, you don’t know me! That was my first thought when I heard her read that line above. But she doesn’t have to know me, because our sinful desire as people is to make our life work on our terms. But over and over again in life I have realized that life is better if Jesus is in control. If Jesus is over everything as Lisa says. This book was a pointed and yet gentle reminder of how much better life is when it is structured around a Jesus first mindset, instead of a me first mindset. Lisa shares vulnerable stories from her own life so you can relate to what this looks like in the day to day. And what it looks like when you get out of whack.

I read Jesus Over Everything in conjunction with the companion Bible study. This was the first book I've read by Lisa Whittle and I really enjoyed it! Lisa challenges us to put Jesus over everything in all aspects of our everday life. As Christ followers, this is what we want to do but it's not always the easiest thing to do. Whittle talks about the importance of making small, conscious choices thoughout the day. Choices, such as service over spotlight, holiness over freedom and commitment over mood. These small choices will help us attain our goal of living a Jesus over everything life!
I also highly recommend the Jesus Over Everything Bible study!

Jesus over everything. A commitment that easy to make initially but sometimes hard to keep. Overall I liked this book. I think that everyone can admit that they struggle with at least one of the areas that she highlights.

Real Over Pretty
Love Over Judgment
Holiness Over Freedom
Service Over Spotlight
Steady Over Hype
Honesty Over Hiding
Wisdom Over Knowledge
Commitment Over Mood

The author did share many personal stories and struggles where she had not been successful at keeping Jesus first. I appreciate it when authors do not try to act like they have conquered the mountain already. But there were times when her tone felt critical to me. I am guessing that some of the times that I felt that way was because I was feeling a bit convicted at some of her challenging words.

The opposing themes were presented well. Honestly the list is something that I could see keeping as a bookmark in my Bible as sort of a "self-check" for those times when I feel like I am struggling. Because I am a writer whose work involves some social media, I could relate to many situations that she shared a little too well.

As for rating, I am giving this one a 4.4 out of 5. Lots of truth but because it edged a bit toward condemnation, I did not quite always feel the love. But maybe that is necessary sometimes for change to occur.
Thank you to Net Galley and Thomas Nelson for allowing me to preview this book. All opinions are my own!

In Jesus Over Everything, Lisa Whittle takes on several big and, perhaps to some, heavy topics. Breaking it down by "something over something" - examples: holiness over freedom, steady over hype, service over spotlight - she urges readers to stop seeking what the world offers and instead look to and run toward Jesus.

I can't quite put my finger on it, and Lisa seems like a great author for this book/this message, but overall something felt... missing.

I wanted to lo e this book. I wanted to connect with the author, but I couldnt. I think there are different leaders for different stages of your walk with Jesus. There is a movement of Christian celebrity that is a bit disturbing to me.

I thought Jesus Over Everything provided good wisdom in choosing things like holiness and service and love over other things that ultimately lead us down dangerous roads.

I enjoyed Lisa’s writing style, but felt that some of the content was a bit repetitive throughout.

Time and time again the Bible tells us to take it to Him first. But in the busyness of today's life, it doesn't always hit our brainwave first. The world has a way of steering us away from that thinking and point us to do it ourselves. In Jesus Over Everything, Lisa brings us back to putting Jesus first. In the steps she provides, she helps us to steer away from the busyness and back in step with Him. If your looking for a step by step guide, this is not the book. Lisa style is forthright, honest, and friendly as if you were a friend at her table. She doesn't step away from the hard stuff. She pushes through.

In this crazy world we are living in right now we all need to set the things aside we have in front of Jesus and rest in knowing He truly is where we can set our minds and hearts. This book is about placing Him OVER all else. This study is going to be helpful to many women who are struggling to find a balance in their lives.
Placing Jesus Over Everything is life changing. I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs mental rest and a little order in their life and that is most of us.
I received an advanced copy and this is my own opinion.

This book was such a good reminder of the daily things we need to really stay focused on Christ. It went through main areas of life that we tend to let come before Christ and talked about how to still devote the time and energy we need to those things without putting them above our Lord and Savior. Probably my favorite thing about the book was the authors candid writing style. It felt like we were old friends chatting in the living room and really helped take any sting off of some convicting parts while also adding humor and life.

Jesus Over Every Thing by Lisa Whittle, I received a advanced copy of this book from The Publisher and NetGallery, and this is my honest review. There are 10 chapters in this book, from topics like “Land Of The Deadly Overs” to “Service Over Spotlight, (my favorite) and more. In “Service Over Spotlight” the Author quotes-George H. W. Bush, “Any Definition Of A Successful Life Must Include Serving Others”. In this time of the deep unknown, when we are All struggling to survive the next month or longer, it’s So Important that we show compassion. That we serve others who are in need, in pain, and struggling. When we say Yes to God and choose service over spotlight, we become the person God wants us to be.

So today with all the panic, the fear, the turmoil, say Yes, Jesus Over Every Thing. I found this book inspiring, love that the Author includes bible verses in each chapter. This will be a book that I will read over again.
