In Jesus Over Everything, Lisa Whittle shares eight lifestyles on how we can improve on truly having Jesus over everything in our lives. I think this book may help a new believer in their walk with Christ at the beginning, but it didn’t really spark a fire in me.
I graciously received an advance e-copy from netgalley for a review. All opinions are my own.

I am reviewing a copy of Jesus Over Everything through Thomas Nelson and Netgalley:
In this book Whittle reminds us that just because our lives may not be working for us right now, does not mean we need a new life. Sometimes all we need to do is let God run our lives.
As Christian Women our desire is to put Jesus first in our lives. We know too that when we do put Christ first the rest will fall into place. But often life feels complicated and the demands of our daily life , leaves us having our priorities out of order and our walk with Christ and therefore our lives suffer.
Lisa Whittle points out too that overworking can be a big issue as well, reminding us that if we felt we were good enough we would not feel the need to work ourselves into the ground.
Jesus Over Everything reminds us too of the importance of being real, to go ahead and admit the pain we are feeling, the joy, the grief. We are reminded too that we should be who we are, the person God made us to be.
We are reminded too of the importance of loving over judgement, Love is more powerful than judgement and should be more freely given.
We are reminded too that as Christians we can join the bandwagon of defeat, or we can stand up and make a difference. We need to stop becoming so affected by events that we become ineffective in making a difference.
Whittle reminds us too that love is stronger than self loathing.
We are reminded that Jesus is not against your creativity but for it. He gave us the gift and wants us to use it, in a way that glorifies him.
The importance of wisdom over knowledge is emphasized as well.
Jesus Over Everything encourages the reader to pursue Jesus for life, grow deep roots in Faith and it encourages us to walk strong in a world that often feels as if it has gone crazy.
I give Jesus Over Everything five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!
A good book for people who are looking to find faith and ways to apply to their everyday life. The writer also has a podcast on the same topic so if you loved the book you can go further and listen there.
" Jesus Over Everything" by Lisa Whittle is a Christian Living book. Lisa is a writer, speaker and has a non profit ministry Ministry Strong. She does podcasts on Jesus Over Everything. This book is well written and very practical. She addresses the hard issues of what do we place above Jesus. It is easy to value other things above Jesus. We surrender our lives to Jesus and think He is first. We then can easily struggle to balance with all the other things that compete for our attention. She is very candid and open about our need to address the issues that are competing for our attention. i like her honesty and ability to address the hard topics. This book is well written. I was given this book to read and review and the opinions are my own. Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book. I will post my review on Facebook, Goodreads, Amazon, netgalley, my blog and share it with the church staff.
2.5 stars / I think I was expecting something a little different based on the subtitle of this book. I’m not really sure why I didn’t enjoy this book as much as others that are similar, and that’s the only thing I can put my finger on. It wasn’t the right book for me right now, but I can appreciate it and the content.
Jesus over everything by Lisa Whittle is a wonderful book that has helped me in my understanding and relationship with Jesus.
The books description says:
As Christian women, we desire to put Jesus first. We want to prioritize him above all, knowing instinctively that when we do, everything else in our lives will fall into alignment. Yet life feels complicated, and the demands of our daily lives leave our priorities out of order and our hearts longing for more.
Author, speaker, and Bible teacher Lisa Whittle is passionate about helping people pursue Jesus for life, grow deep roots of faith, and walk strong in a world that so often seems to have gone crazy. In Jesus Over Everything, Lisa shares eight statements of choice to help us grow in our understanding of what it means to put Jesus first amid the craziness our days bring, including choices such as
commitment over mood,
steady over hype,
holiness over freedom,
service over spotlight,
and more.
Jesus Over Everything is a practical, compelling picture of what we crave yet struggle to define as we seek to give God his rightful place in our everyday lives.
This book would make a great gift for any Christian woman. I also think this would be a good book for women’s Bible study groups to go through.
Whether your faith feels stagnant or stalled, Lisa Whittle has words of wisdom to spur on the spiritual growth of a Jesus over everything lifestyle.
Lisa doesn’t beat around the bush, identifying multiple areas in our lives that stunt our spiritual growth, and providing suggestions to help us overcome them.
At times, deeply convicting, readers will easily identify areas that they have not yet given over to God. Though as Lisa says, “It isn’t about rules; it is about spiritual relinquishment.”
Lisa intersperses real-life examples with stories from scripture, issuing a call to live in holiness. “And to be holy, we have to be willing to get rid of anything, even things that our freedom allows, that stands in between us and God.”
As a women’s ministry leader, I pray every woman who reads this book will choose to pursue holiness and be transformed.
"The true source of a person is not in if she can make her life work; it's if she can die to her life enough for Jesus to work in her". My favorite quote from the book that simply sums up where people go wrong when trying to have Jesus a first priority in there lives .We are faced with distractions and choices everyday. and through ten chapters Lisa us es scripture and biblical figures (Abraham, David) to help us navigate through our choices.
. What I also loved about this book is her honesty. She opens herself up to her readers by sharing incidents in her past that shows us she knows what we are going through. The book was really
interesting, well written. I high!y recommend this read..
