Eleanor, now an adult, didn't have the best upbringing, with a very difficult mother. Her father, the only person she was close to, has passed away, and she finds out he isn't her biological father. Reeling, she sets off to find her biological dad only to find him and be told he wants nothing to do with her. He is well off and has another daughter, Victoria, that is seemingly living the life that Eleanor wishes she had. Eleanor is determined to get close to her newly found half sister and get what she feels like she missed out on and deserves in life.
This. Book. Is. Twisted. I loved it soooo much!! It's took so many rights and lefts I couldn't keep up, which is what I love in a good psychological thriller. Definitely one that kept me reading until the wee hours of the morning!!
thanks to Hannah Mary McKinnon, MIRA, and NetGalley for the ARC.

Holy thriller of a book, this book had me literally on the edge of my seat in suspense. This was my first book by Hannah Mary McKinnon and wow does she know how to write an awesome suspenseful book. It was twisty, nervy, and the ending completely threw me. I'm definitely reading more of her books!

Eleanor has always had a tough upbringing, thanks to her crappy mom and spoiled sister. The only silver lining throughout her life was her dad, until he passes from cancer — but not without a final, earth-shattering confession: he’s not her real father. When Eleanor discovers who her real father is, she also learns that he wants absolutely nothing to do with her. Miserable and grief-stricken, Eleanor decides to get her revenge by befriending her half-sister — who has no clue that they’re related.

While you have to suspend a bit of disbelief with this plot, it is such a fun and fast read. I could not put my kindle down!

Thank you to NetGalley and MIRA for providing an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Eleanor found out that her father was not her biological father as he was dying. She becomes obsessed with her newly found half-sister. It was pretty cool watching her spiral. Of course, no one is ever as perfect as they seem! Lots of twists, a pretty cool ending, but lots of body image stuff that I wasn’t quite sure fit. Alas, a fun read!

This is my first time reading Hannah Mary McKinnon. I was definitely intrigued by the plot. I felt that some parts of the book were a little slow going and full of too much detail. I continued on and liked the second half of the book a lot better than the first half. The ender was one I definitely did not see coming however I felt like it was very rushed how everything all came together. I will likely check out other books by this author.

This book was a really good surprise - Really enjoyed reading this. This is my first book by this author and I will certainly be checking to see if she has written others! I usually figure these type of books out but not this one. Loved it.

I really liked the speed of this thriller, and the unreliable narrator kept things interesting. I found a lot of the writing to be predictable however, and felt that there was no final payoff which was very disappointing. I found myself engaged throughout the book though and would read the author again.

I'm not sure Hannah Mary McKinnon is going to be for me. While I liked the plot of this book, the pacing and writing style just didn't work for me. I do recommend thriller readers give it a go, because I think this was more personal preference than bad writing.

This book wasn't for me. I was confused from the very beginning and I never felt like anything that happened was realistic. The dialogue and the character development were both inauthentic and painful to read.

This was such a wild and twisted suspense that kept me hooked throughout. I knew right away I was going to love this novel, as before I knew it I was at page 40 in the blink of an eye. This was such a fabulous novel about greed, revenge, secrets and family relationships. Sensational!!

Eleanor loses her loving father to cancer. Before he passes, she overhears him and her mother speaking in the hospital room. She learns her father isn't her biological father. She finds out she is the product of an affair. She dies some research and finds her real father, but he absolutely wants nothing to do with her! She also has a half sister who has this lavish life, everything Eleanor could possibly want, and more! Eleanor comes up with a plan to have a relationship with her sister, and gets what she wants.

I really liked this one!! I thought Eleanor was crazy! Lol….I couldn't believe some of the things she was doing. Yikes!! 😂😂 And that ending!! Omg, 🤦🏼‍♀️ totally DID NOT see it coming! Wow!! If you want a fun psychological thriller, this is a good one!!

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the review copy! All opinions are my own!

For most of the book, I was thinking this was a 2 star book. I pretty much knew where it was going and the characters are unlikable for the most part. All of them do stupid things and there are some absolutely unbelievable things that would never happen in real life. Yet I bumped the rating up in the end because this is one twisted story, meaning that it doesn't go exactly where I thought and some of the characters end up being quite twisted themselves.
It's quite a head-shaker, but for a thriller it moves quickly and has a story that will keep readers entertained if only in a watching-a-car-wreck kind of a way. I didn't care for the ending at all, it left me with a bad taste in my mouth (and almost made me take that star back again). I can't give out more information without giving spoilers, so go read the book and decide for yourself.

I loved this book. If you like Gone Girl, you will like this book. The characters held my interest throughout the book. The end had several unexpected twists. I highly recommend this book. I will be looking for more books by Hannah Mary McKinnon.

I received this book from NetGalley.

The ending of this book was so worth being driven crazy by the main character. She is so delusional and blinded by what she wants and how she thinks that she can't see what's going on around her. This book gave me Single White Female/Swimfan vibes and I loved it. I took a star off because I hated Eleanor so much...to the point that I was glad she got the ending she did. Overall, a solid book.

The premise of this thriller had me intrigued from the first page. And just when I thought I had an idea of where things were headed, the author introduced some surprising character developments and twists in the the plot that I loved and made me want to keep reading even more. I couldn't flip the pages fast enough and the story definitely kept me on my toes and guessing. I loved the protagonist and found her extremely relatable. The twists at the end made my jaw drop and left me with that "Oooh nooo!" feeling. A fantastic read!

Hannah Mary McKinnon is the queen of endings that have you saying "WHAT?" - in the best way! Much like The Neighbours, this book had me curious at the beginning, hooked in the middle, and blew me away at the end! I found Eleanor Hardwicke easy to relate to, and her perspective on her life real and well written. Written through her perspective for the entire book, you will feel like a friend and just want to shake her and give her advice as she doesn't make the best choices. If you want a suspenseful summer read by the pool full of deceptions, lies, and the elite, this is a story for you!
