I really enjoyed the story, it was interesting, and i enjoyed the heroine. But i felt the romance and chemistry was a bit off.
3 1/2 stars
Everybody Lies had an interesting premise. The main character, Frankie, has the ability to sense when other people tell a lie. It can cause difficulties with interpersonal relationships. She is often untrusting of others because in her mind, "everyone lies."
Julian and Frankie meet and their chemistry is clearly apparent. However, they both are initially keeping secrets from each other. There's no denying their attraction as this was one extremely steamy story. However, will that be enough when they are both keeping secrets.
I liked the way the romance progressed. Overall, this book had a good storyline. The only thing that was missing for me was more information and history regarding Frankie's "gift." I felt like it was thrown out there as a plot device without full development..
Thank you to NetGalley for this reader's copy.
I was captivated by the premise of this novel. Everybody Lies has as it's heroine a woman who can tell when someone is lying. What a great character trait and kudos to Melanie A. Smith for making it believable in a very complex character. The story itself is strong, fast paced and interesting. The hero is also a flawed but intriguing character. I enjoyed their journey to love and appreciated the passion with which Ms. Smith writes and the way the love scenes moved the story along. Though I'm not positive they achieved a happily ever after , I'm satisfied by their happy for now and hoping for the best, lol. I would read more from Melanie A Smith. 3.5
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation.
I’m Frankie Greco. I’m a strong, independent woman. I have to be. Because I can tell when people are lying. Literally. Since I can remember, a little voice inside my head has whispered to me whenever I hear lies. And everybody lies. It’s hard to avoid when there are so many reasons. To save people pain. To save your own ass. To get revenge. Or because you just can’t help it. I could go on and on.
This was a pretty good book. The story was well paced and quick to read. I really liked both main characters, absolutely LOVED Frankie. I hadn’t read this author before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was not disappointed!
**I voluntarily read and reviewed this book
The story is interesting. Characters are raw and emotional. It started out good but got a little slow in the middle. But picked up soon after. I took my time reading this one. But loved it nonetheless.
Thanks to NetGalley and the author for the ARC. I enjoyed the premise of this book and even the story. I did not like how the beginning dragged and we didn't find out until much much later some of the details and reasons behind our main character's actions especially the H. So instead of me trying to figure out the suspense I was just getting annoyed. I don't doubt other readers will love this book. For me I guess I expected something more dark.
I voluntarily read this ARC for an honest review

Really enjoyed this
Lots of suspense and, of course, lies and steamy to boot!!
Thought the end was great and unpredictable - thought it was excellent
I shall be looking out for this author for more !!
Suspense, lies, and steam. This was a great suspense book that was full of bad boy sexy. I loved the unexpected ending. I could not put this book down once I started. Excellent!
I did not read the full synopsis of this book when I requested it. I wanted to find out more about the human lie detector, also named Frankie, or Francesca to those she does not like.
After reading the first quarter of this book, I believed I would not be the best person to review it. I have lived on my own for more than 13 years. Not even one date. And, boy oh boy, a lot of eye popping action. At this time, I felt that the characters were extremely cliché and two dimensional. There was too little backstory.
At the midway point, I was pleasantly surprised. The story began to unfold and I found myself taking a vested interest in the characters, Frankie and Julian. I also enjoyed reading about grandma. And who wouldn't want the ability to tell when a lie is being spoken, for at least a little bit anyway.
The last third of the book, I could not put it down. The action picked up and the ending, outside of Frankie and Julian, was completely unexpected. I also enjoyed reading about the drama between Jess and David and Frankie using her abilities to outwit Jess.
I would enjoy reading another book about Frankie and Julian. I'm sure they could get up to more interesting shenanigans.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for copy of Everybody Lies for an honest review
I didn't really enjoy this. The idea is a good one, but I found the characters to be unlikable.

I really liked the book. The writing style is great and I enjoyed the setting and world this book creates. I was captivated by the story from yhe beginning.
Frankie the main character is a tough woman with asuper power but she also seams to be quite vulnerable. The other one Julien seems to have a dark aura cause of that he's interesting as a character. The storyline is good thought of and the tension on a high level.
Initially, reading the synopsis for Everybody Lies, I was intrigued about reading about a human lie detector with trust issues, as Ilona Andrews has an entire series based on this interesting phenom in her Hidden Legacy series that I five-starred into the ether. So I was interested in seeing how this new-to-me author, Melanie A. Smith would spin her yarn following a similar theme.
Everybody Lies does follow a human lie detector, but there are no explanations, no development of characters, and. So. Many. Holes.
There was little story and much sex. I didn’t know I was signing up for an erotica episode with a side of too much drama, and even less plausibility.
I do think I would have preferred the synopsis be more upfront about what this story actually is— sex/erotica— so that a I wouldn’t be misled into thinking I’m getting something more than a plodding sexual episode.
I received an ARC from the author and publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Note: This is a full length, standalone steamy contemporary romantic suspense novel. This book includes mature content, and as such is not recommended for readers under 18 years of age, or those who might be offended / triggered by such material.
Frankie Greco is a human lie detector. Something just pings in her head when someone lies to her. One thing she's learned is that everybody lies at one time or another. It might be a little white lie or it might be a whopper. There are all kinds of reasons a person might lie.
Because of her 'gift', her personal relationships have gone nowhere. Only one or two people know about her gift and they are the only people she trusts.
When she met Julian, she fell for him instantly. Yes, he mentioned a couple of things that set off the voices in her head, but she was so enamored of him, she bent her own rules in dating anyone who lies to her.
Julian skates on the edge of lies ... but he has an agenda and falling for Frankie wasn't a part of the plan.
I generally don't mind a bit of spice with my reading, as long as the story is a good one. This one disappointed me in that the story was only a very small part. Most of the book I found to be nothing but graphic sex and the 'F' word repeated over and over again. The mystery of Julian was a few short pages at the surprising end. This one is just not my cup of tea.
