Thankyou to NetGalley, the publishers and the author, Jill Hughes, for the opportunity to read a digital copy of Spirit Of Prophecy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. I was so excited to receive a copy of this book to review. From the premise of the story, I knew it would be a book that I would really enjoy. And I most certainly did. I loved everything about this book. From the well written storyline and characters to the descriptive scenery, I was enthralled. I cannot wait to read more. 4.5 stars. Well worth a read.
Spirit Of Prophecy is an unusual mix of sci-fi, crime thriller and the paranormal.
Rosetta is a psychic detective, she has a nightmare that she feels is a message, a puzzle to solve. But the reader is privy to information she doesn’t have so you can start to solve the mystery as you read.
Rosetta is determined to solve a recent hit and run incident that may have been murder. Can she put an end to the relentless cycle of revenge?
She is a complex character with her personal life a mess, which makes her more relatable and likeable.
An interesting and twisty plot that makes this an engaging and entertaining read.
Thank you to The publishers and NetGalley for a free ecopy of the book. This is my honest, unbiased review.
A mix of paranormal, thriller, crime. It works well but I did find the dialogue a little naive and at times a little difficult to follow the layout of the story. Saying that, it's a really great idea, so unusual and it works really well. Look forward to reading more of Jill Hughes books.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This story is a mix of genres - paranormal, science fiction and thriller.
The narrative is from several character's point of view and for the most part, is very involved and cohesive.
Rosetta works for a clandestine organization that works with aliens, psychics, seers and more to keep the world in balance. She is also a divorced mother of two children AND a detective in the UK.
Rosetta has visions, premonitions and she is trying desperatly to avert disaster if only Juliet would answer her phone.
Juliette is an Olympian equestrian - gold medal winner - who is looking to win a second gold medal with her amazing horse Gothic.
The mystery begins when Gothic and a young friend of Juliette's are killed in a road rage incident. Rosetta must find the backstory of the karmic reason for the ruthless murder of Gothic. Juliette must learn to accept Rosettas gift and her place in the spirit world.
There is betrayal, love, pain, joy and personal growth throughout the story. A few times, the plot slowed as the author spent - to me - a bit too much time explaining the organization Rosetta works for.
Overall., this was an absorbing and enjoyable read. I highly reccomend Jill Hughes book.
An excellent mystery, solid and well written. It's an engrossing and entertaining read that kept me hooked.
I liked the style of writing, the well thought cast of characters and world building.
I look forward to reading other books by this author.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
This book is the debut novel from this author. The book is surprisingly good I didn't expected an really unique story and a lot of tension in it.
On the Olympic Three Day Event the Gold Medalist Juliets horse is killed, along with an apparently road rage incident. The search after the killer begins and it's unknown but maybe the attack should have been on Juliet.
Detective Barrett, who is working for the British police is also a member of a top-secret research foundation that studies paranormal phenomenons. Barret is convinced that their is a link to this murder in the past and she believes she can unravel this mystery. The author has written an fascinating and exciting debut novel that not only offers mystery, but also give the reader a lot of tension. The writing style is pleasant and its fluently to read. A great mystery /crime lecture.
