I loved Roz Nay's debut novel, Our Little Secret, so I was very excited to pick up her upcoming novel, Hurry Home. Sadly, this book was more of a familiar family drama story and didn't hit it out of the park for me. I felt like I've read this story over and over again. 2020 Dennis promises to not decimate books in unfavorable reviews, so I will leave it at that. Roz Nay is a fabulous writer and I know many will enjoy this story.

Thank you NetGalley and publisherfor the ARC of Hurry Home. This was my first Roz Nay novel, I would really say 3.5* but couldn’t round up to 4*. With that said, I will be checking out her other works.

This book piqued my interest from the beginning, I felt that it was kind of slow for the first three quarters of the book. The end was enjoyable but did not have my screaming. The “twists” were mostly predictable, but it was an interesting take on sibling bonds and worth a read.

Alex Van Ness, she lives in a luxurious loft flat with her model boyfriend Chase and loves her job as a child protection officer. They have an idealistic life until her sister Ruth turns up on the doorstep asking to stay. Alex has not seen Ruth for years. The agreement is she can stay but never talk about their past with Chase. As Ruth and Chase spend more time together secrets slip and Chase gains insight into Alex's past.
This book will keep you up at night until you have read the last page. It is a great piece of fiction and I would recommend to anyone who likes a good thriller. It's full of twists, screts and lies. This is one of my top 2020 books.

I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this book since the description was just a little ho-hum and not that interesting. But I gave it a try and with so many twists and secrets, I loved it. It ended up being a page-turner for me trying to figure out who was telling the truth. It will make you never want a family/sister like this - craziness!

Alex and her sister Ruth have been estranged for the last 10 years. Ruth was always the trouble-maker at home and ran away 10 years ago with her drug dealing boyfriend. Now she shows up on Alex's doorstep, pregnant and needing a place to stay. Alex welcomes her into her boyfriend Chase's home... but clearly things are not what they seem between these sisters.

I enjoyed the way Roz Nay crafts these unreliable narrators. Maybe I liked it more because I had low expectations, but whatever the case, I would definitely read the next book by this author.

Two sisters are the polar opposites of each that have lived their own lives for quite a few years now. Recently, one of the sisters shows back up and things are forever changed.

Throughout the novel, I empathized with the character Alex much more than I did Ruth. The character develop was wonderful and the progression of the plot was outstanding. Each page took a new turn that needed to be discovered, as well as a shocking twist at the end! A must read by Roz Nay!

finished this book while camping at a music festival and totally ignoring the tunes playing around me because I just had to know how it ended. It was a gut-wrenching, surprise-ridden journey with a fabulous ending! I can’t wait to read more from this brilliant author.

Thank you to Netgalley, Roz Nay and Crooked Lane Books for the advance copy of Hurry Home.
I really enjoyed this one. The book centers around two sisters Alex and Ruth. Ruth shows up on Alex's door step after 10 years of absence, pregnant and in need of help. Who really knows what happens between sisters except them. More of a family drama than a thriller, but very good all the same.

Meet Alex. A successful 25 year old child protection services worker, who lives in a designer loft with her model boyfriend Chase. Alex has the perfect life. But Alex's perfect life is upended when her estranged sister Ruth shows up on her doorstep. Ruth has always been the troublemaker, the wild-child, so Alex lets Ruth stay under one condition: don't talk about the past.

Told from alternating perspectives of Ruth and Alex over multiple time frames, Hurry Home is the ultimate story about the complicated relationship between sisters and how far they are willing to go to protect each other. Fast-paced, with the perfect amount of mystery. I thought I had most of the plot figured out, but Roz Nay delivered a shocking (but believable) twist. A must read!

Description
From the bestselling author of Our Little Secret comes a suspenseful new thriller featuring two estranged sisters desperate to keep their deepest and darkest secret where it belongs--in the past. Close to my heart you'll be, sisters forever you and me... Alexandra Van Ness has the perfect life. She lives in an idyllic resort town tucked away in the Rocky Mountains, shares a designer loft with her handsome boyfriend, Chase, and has her dream job working in child protection. Every day, Alex goes above and beyond to save children at risk. But when her long-lost sister, Ruth, unexpectedly shows up at her door, Alex's perfect life is upended. Growing up, Ruth was always the troublemaker, pulling Alex into her messes, and this time will be no different. Still, Alex will help Ruth under one condition: we will never, ever, talk about the past. But when trouble befalls a local child, both women are forced to confront the secrets they've promised to keep buried. Utterly engrossing and claustrophobic, Hurry Home is a tantalizing reflection of the chain-and-shackles relationship between sisters that asks: what lines wouldn't you cross for your own?

My Review
Hurry Home is the kind of book that keeps you at the edge of your seat, it grabs you and does not let go until the very end. Very well written and definitely not what I expected.

Watch out, this is one book you will definitely not want to miss!!

Alex is living a seemingly perfect life as a social worker and living with her perfect boyfriend Chase. But when her estranged sister, Ruth, shows up on her doorstep, her perfect life begins to shatter. After a tragic accident in their childhood, Alex and Ruth grew farther and farther apart, keeping secrets, telling lies. But Ruth is pregnant and needs protection from a dangerous ex, so Alex feels obligated to help her. As secrets are revealed, who will need protection more, Ruth or the child she's carrying?
Wow, my feelings about each of these women completely changed as this story went along! What a seriously twisted woman! I like how the story switched back and forth from Alex's perspective to Ruth's, and their different experiences in childhood to bring them to this point.

Having read Roz Nay’s previous book, I was very excited to read this one. I was certainly not disappointed as I was instantly drawn into the suspenseful domestic drama presented here. Alexandra Van Ness is happily living in the Rocky Mountains with her boyfriend Chase when her sister Ruth unexpectedly shows up. Ruth is pregnant, and Alex reluctantly agrees that she can stay with them as long as she doesn’t expose the secrets the sisters carry from their past. I thought it was very interesting that the secrets seemed to involve a child and Alex worked for child protective services. Anyway, I liked that Nay revealed the secrets slowly and in a way that kept me reading. The mystery was a puzzle, with new pieces added occasionally and at just the right moments. The pacing was expertly done in a way that drew me into the mystery. The story was suspenseful all the way to the end and even included some surprises that I had not guessed at all! I highly recommend this book to fans of domestic drama or mysteries. I’m not sure that I would categorize it as a thriller, but it was a good, satisfying read.

This was edge of your seat, pulse pounding reading at its very finest. I have never read anything by this author before but will make sure to add all of their books to my TBR list immediately. Wow, just loved this one.

This book is listed as a thriller, which it was not. Not even a mystery, really. The dialog between characters felt constructed and not actually how people speak. When was the last time you addressed your sister as "Sister?" It fell short for me. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

This novel follows the story and lives of two sisters Ruth and Alex. Their younger brother died when they were young, but what truly happened on that shocking, fateful day?

This novel is full of shocking lies, half truths, heartache, revenge and family secrets. A great recipe for a truly addictive book! I loved reading through the chapters and learning bit by bit what happened to their little brother. Appearances can be deceiving, and not everyone is who they pretend to be. Who can you believe? Who can you trust?

A wonderful book that will keep you on your toes and have you guessing the whole way through.

I have a sister so I always love to read books that examine this particular angle. This book was so good! Suspenseful, twisty, and unpredictable! It only took me two days to finish this one, it had me hooked! Would definitely recommend.

A brilliant and engrossing read by Roz Nay. A family drama filled with secrets, it just blows you away. A story of two sisters who were torn apart after a tragedy in the family.

Alex seems to have everything, but she is haunted by her past, then her sister Ruth turns up, they haven’t been in contact with each other for many years. Ruth is running away from her past and is pregnant.

Both women want to put the past behind them but is it about to catch up with them? The story is told from two points of view, alternating between the two sisters. But which sister do you believe? Each telling their own versions of events of what happened. It’s difficult to know which one is telling the truth. Both are well crafted characters, both strong women.

Then when you get the big reveal, it totally blindsides you, I never saw it coming. I thought I had it all worked out but I got it so wrong. It’s difficult to say much more without giving out spoilers, which are for the reader to find out for themselves. But it’s a book to read in one sitting.

A great story, well written, full of suspense and drama, as well as a story where no one is as they seem. A definite must read of 2020.

I would like to thank #netgalley and #crookedLaneBooks for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest, fair and unbiased review.

This book is part thriller and all family drama. One minute I was rooting for one sister then switched to rooting for the other one in the next chapter. Every story has two sides and this one is told from each ones perspective. There are many twists and turns all the way to the end.
This book is perfect for the reader who loves thrillers and/or dramas. It will appeal to both. I loved it!

A thriller about sisters. This book had me from the first page! I enjoyed it very much. Older sisters, you all know what I mean if you are the little sister. What an exciting book! I was so lost in these pages. I enjoyed it all so much. Alex and Ruth sisters with a secret and it makes a great book as well. What a captivating book! "This book was given to me for free at my request from NetGalley and I provided this voluntary review."

This is the story of two sisters who have been torn apart after a family tragedy. Alexandra, or Alex is a social worker working for child protective services. She lives with her boyfriend Chase in the Rocky Mountains.

One day Alex gets a knock on her door from her sister Ruth. She has not had contact with her in many years. Ruth is running away from her sorted past and is pregnant. She seemingly tries to repair her relationship with her sister.

They both have a past they would like to forget and it becomes apparent that their past catches up with them. This story took me a while to get into, but once I felt invested in their relationship, I continued. I am glad I did. Family is not always easy, but love and communication can be key. Thank you NetGalley, Roz Nay and Crooked Lane publishing for the advanced copy.
