I find it hard to classify this book. It is not a thriller but more a drama. A family drama in more than one way. Alexandra and Ruth share the memory of their own family drama, which goes back to the death of their little brother. Alexandra chose to get a job in child protection so she deals with family dramas every day. And sometimes she uses unorthodox ways to help those families. When Ruth, after a long time of no contact at all, suddenly turns up at Alexandra’s door, it all comes together – who is telling the truth?
It was a nice read but very predictable in places. The handsome boyfriend, the even more handsome police officer, the grumpy boss, the colleague who makes ‘the wrong decisions’ every time, and last but not least the sister, the wild child, who run away as a young teenager with a boy with a bad background, who now returns with a whole different story to tell. I must admit I found the main characters a bit flat with an exception to the colleague. For me, she stood out. Maybe not in a good way, but I could see who she was and where she came from.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this digital ARC.

This was a very suspenseful mystery and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Is anyone ever who you think they are? Full of family secrets and mystery, this was a great read.
Many thanks to Crooked Lane Books and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I was introduced to Roz through her book Our Little Secret. I absolutely loved that book and I got to meet Roz at Bouchercon. She is very kind and an excellent writer. I look forward to many more books from Roz.

Engaging thriller. Fast paced plot with interesting characters. Great addition to any mystery collection.

This was a story that was great as a whole, opening in an exciting manner, but kind of dragging it's feet in spots. Seeing how the flashbacks begin to poke wholes in the main character's carefully constructed persona and why the sisters are who they are, are both interesting but at times tedious. I honestly didn't kniw if I loved or not. But I will still recommend this to lovers of physiological thrillers.

This book drug like a dead husband's body on an episode of Snapped.

I wouldn't call this story a thriller so if you're going into it (as I did) expecting anything more than a family drama, you may be disappointed.

Two sisters, one or both may or may not be reliable. Secrets. They have lots of secrets. One more than the other.

"... even when sisterhood is a prison, like it has been for me, it’s always, always a vault."

Repeat aforementioned synopsis over and over and over and you have the book.

Flat. That's the best word I have to describe this story.

As of the posting of this review, EVERYBODY loves this book. Please don't take my word as gospel, it just wasn't for me. I hope you like it better than I did.

The opening grabbed my attention, and the book kept my interest throughout. The characters were well-crafted, and the clues unfolded at a rate that made it easy to "play along" with the characters in figuring things out. It kept me guessing, which is always a good thing! I've never read anything by this author before, and I'm likely to check out future books. While some parts were a bit unbelievable and others a bit predictable, this was an enjoyable novel overall.

There are two sides to every story! Oh @roznay ... you have completely consumed the last 24 hours of my life. What a thrill ride! Everything about this book is sheer perfection. Spectacularly sneaky, expertly crafted and gripping... from the first page to the epic conclusion

Hurry Home by Roz Nay was a very good book, I enjoyed it from beginning and end and she is a wonderful writer.

I loved the premise of Hurry Home. I read so much and I often comment that I’m worn out from seeing the same recycled plot in suspense novels so something fresh is always welcome. Take a look here:

Alexandra Van Ness has a perfect life. She lives in an idyllic resort town tucked away in the Rocky Mountains, shares a designer loft with her handsome boyfriend, Chase, and has her dream job working in child protection. Every day, Alex goes above and beyond to save children at risk.

But when her long-lost sister, Ruth, unexpectedly shows up at her door, Alex’s perfect life is upended. Growing up, Ruth was always the troublemaker, pulling Alex into her messes, and this time will be no different. Still, Alex will help Ruth under one condition: we will never, ever, talk about the past. But when a local child goes missing, both women are forced to confront the secrets they’ve promised to keep buried.

“Close to my heart you’ll be, sisters forever you and me...”

I always like a book with family secrets, especially with sisters. In this case, with the return of Ruth, emotions come to the surface for Alexandra. I have to tell you that there were twists that I didn’t expect and I know that those who enjoy an engrossing mystery/suspense/thriller will love this story!

Pre-order Hurry Home now and then clear your schedule so you can read the whole book in one sitting! This comes out on July 7!

I loved the first book I read by Roz Nay and this one was great as well. Alex is living a good life with a great job as a CPS case worker and a fabulous live-in boyfriend. Her estranged sister Ruth shows up out of the blue, pregnant, with nowhere to go, and Alex lets her stay with them against her better instincts... The story unfold slowly and Alex, who is "the good sister" tries really hard to accept and help her troublemaker older sister who always causes drama. Secrets from the past slowly come out and the story is not as it first appears, as the the plot moves on. Nay is a great writer and slowly turns the story around as Alex and Ruth spend more time together and questions of their good/bad sister-bond are slowly answered. I really enjoyed this novel as Roz Nay is definitely becoming one of my favorite author of thrillers! Do not miss this intriguing deep-seeded mystery story between two sisters. Thank to NG for the ARC!!

Alexandra Van Ness cares, for boyfriend Chase, her town, reputation and job saving at risk children from their less than capable parents. Her sister Ruth on the other hand, never amounted to anything, leaving home at 15 with her deadbeat boyfriend not reappearing until ten years later when she turns up unexpectedly on Alex and Chase's doorstep with danger not far behind her and the potential to ruin everything.

This is a book which works only in part. The main characters are easy to read and the hints and clues as to what has and will happen are far too easy to pick apart. The flashbacks are the best part for me and the final scene unfortunately left me feeling disappointedly thinking 'what does that mean'?

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers in exchange for an unbiased review and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys family dramas rather than psychological thrillers.

The opening of this one gave me chills and gripped me immediately. I had to know what happened to the baby that seemed to have been stolen, and the rest of the book introduced fantastic three-dimensional characters and slowly unwound the mystery. I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it to others.

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free, electronic ARC of this novel received in exchange for an honest review.
Alex Van Ness is a social worker who dedicates her life to saving children. Living in the mountains with her model boyfriend, Chase, Alex prides herself on the fact that she has been able to start over, rebuilding her life after the tragic death of her brother as a child. When Alex’s sister, Ruth, shows up on her doorstep one day, desperate and pregnant, Alex is forced to face those horrifying memories once again. As the family secrets slowly reveal themselves, Alex and Ruth are forced to uncover the lies, memories and secrets of their past before one, or both, of their lives are destroyed forever.
“Hurry Home” is the first novel I’ve read by author Roz Nay. Her previous novel, “Our Little Secret” has been identified as a psychological suspense but I’m not sure if this one first this same mould. “Hurry Home” is more of a mystery, or family drama, full of family secrets and the consequences that come from keeping them hidden.
Right from the beginning, this novel leaves you guessing. When you are first introduced to Alex, there is an instant bond, and you root for her, happy that she has been able to start her life over again after the tragedy. When Ruth is introduced, doubts start springing up like roots through cement. Is Alex who she says she is? Could Ruth really be the person Alex has told everyone she is?
Although some parts of this novel are predictable if you are familiar with this genre (or just an over-zealous reader, like myself), the novel is a great read. The suspense picks up right at the beginning and doesn’t slow down. As the story unfolds, I wanted to know how it would end, even though I had a pretty good idea.
This novel is taut and high-paced, and it has definitely brought Roz Nay onto my radar.

This definitely kept me guessing, and I read the majority of it in one day. If you like psychological suspense or domestic thrillers, you will love this.

Ruth and Alex could not be more different as sisters. Their past is troubled, full of lies and deceit, and when Ruth shows up at Alex’s door after years of silence, Alex is unsure if she can trust her long-lost sister. But the longer Ruth stays, the more secrets that come out. And the more you start to question, are either of them telling the truth? “Hurry Home” unravels a web of lies that have been 15 years in the making, and you won’t be ready for the last lines and what they reveal.

This was a new-to-me author, and I really enjoyed the book. There were a few times I had to suspend disbelief, but it's a work of fiction, so that's okay. There were enough twists and turns to keep me wondering what was going to happen next.

Roz Nay hit it out of the park on this one!
Alex and Ruth and Pim have a childhood of good and bad times. Loving and caring parents.
Alex and Ruth went their separate ways as they grew up. Alex has chosen a life of helping children and is pretty settled in her life until her sister, Ruth, turns up on her doorstep after leaving their childhood home years before and never being heard from til now.
What happens after her return that day is a sequence of events that will leave you speechless in the end.
Nothing is never exactly what it appears to be.
