Hard pass.
No Chemistry. Annoying, bland and boring characters. I did not like the romance because of this.

I have to admit, at first I didn't like Rich at all. He was domineering and obnoxious. Turns out he's also hurting and Amber likes him bossy. This book didn't really grab me and pull me in.

Dark family secrets keep Rick tied to his painful past and make him determined to protect those he loves, even if he has to hurt them to do it. When Amber returns to the Everglades, asking Rick to release her once and for all, he agrees to her request, but he has one of his own.
After a summer of hot sex with alligator rancher Rick Belleair, Amber Hill returns home to complete her graduate studies. As much as she wants to forget the dominating man who haunts her reckless fantasies, she must go back to him one last time. Her plan: is to get what she needs, then leave.

This was a decent read. The characters were ok and the book was easy to read. Not bad if you have a few hours to kill.

Amber is in love with a man who doesn’t love her. When she has to go back to get him to sign papers to ensure her future, things sizzle! Rich is in love with Amber but he’s afraid! He never wants to lose someone he loves again! Is sizzle enough or can it flare into something else?

I thought that this story was good but it did feel a little disjointed at the beginning and it took a while for me to get in to the story.

I am glad that I carried on reading, and if you do feel the same reading the book, it is worth carrying on with it as but once I had read a few chapters the book really improved and it did get better - I am glad that I carried on with the story.

It is 3.5 stars from me for this one, rounded up to 4 stars for Goodreads and Amazon.

Thanks to the publisher for a copy to read and give my honest opinion.

Honest to goodness second chance romance with wedding bells in the air.

What did I like? Rick and Amber has some explosive lusty chemistry that just seemed to work. Amber wanted a family since she was raised lonely, has her lusty sights set on Rick but he’s not offering anything but a fling. After a summer romance the two are thrown together again on some legal technicalities and Rick finds out he needs more than Ambers body.

Would I buy this book or recommend? Yes, I thought the book had a certain charm and was a cute romance.

Thoughts for the author? The blurb and cover does not match the book listed in goodreads. My first read by this author and it was pretty good.

This was given to me by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This story is mainly about Rick and Ambers relationship. Rick and Amber spent a summer working together during the day and were lovers by night, probably even during work hours too.
Later after the summer's over Amber leaves and they think they will never see each other again, but then amber needs his signature to use the work they did over the summer and comes back, but Rick is willing to give her the approval she needs in exchange for something back.

Their romance was filled with longing and literally constant lust, I think that added for an entertaining read, and if my memory is right Rick admitted early on he loved Amber although not verbally.

This book was an interesting one to read since I've never actually read one like it and I really loved it, but I didn't find anything to be way too extraordinary and I found the family plot very boring, so I'm only giving this 3 stars.

After spending a summer working together and having a passionate love affair, neither Rick nor Amber thought that they would ever see one another again. They have not been able to forget about each other and when Amber returns to get Rick's agreement to use their research for her graduate degree, they soon find that they can't resist one another. Amber agrees to act as Rick's pretend fiance and before long they are swept along with his family's hopes.
This was a bit of an unusual story. The characters had a past, but a fairly recent one. It's clear right from the start that the chemistry between them is explosive and that they are not going to be able to resist one another. The story itself is quite short to be honest, which doesn't matter too much as being as these two have already got a past, there isn't a need for that initial get to know you phase. Both Amber and Rick have a past that has made them both wary of getting involved in a relationship, yet yearning for a place to belong and the chance to be properly part of a family.
I liked both Rick and Amber and I think that their relationship worked well. The idea of a couple deciding to pretend to be married is perhaps a little far fetched, but in the context of the story, that really didn't matter.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Everglades Wildfire by Isabelle Drake is a story with twists and turns, secrets and miscommunication, and a very steamy summer fling. I liked the plot and the characters were engaging. However, I did find Amber’s motives a little selfish in the beginning, and Rick appeared not to care; but all was explained by the end. A good short, quick read.
