It gave me sort of Hallmark movie`s feel. With a heavy dose of chrstimas.
It was cute, and funny. I wish it could be a bit more on each of them, but oh well.

This was a below average read for me. It is an unforgettable story that I will forget about not long after I close the book. It is a holiday romance, so if you're looking for a holiday infused, mindless read, then this is fine I guess.

Thank you NetGalley and Aubrey Wynne for a copy of A Chicago Christmas Collection. This book is a compilation of two short stories.

The first story is called “Dante’s Gift. This is a story that takes place in the present time, but also in the past as a featured character recalls the story of meeting the love of her life. The main characters of the story are Dominic, Katie and Antonia (Dominic’s grandmother). Dominic and Katie have been in a committed relationship and both are ready to take the next step. That is until Dominic informs Katie that he wants to bring his grandmother Antonia to live with him, since she is living all alone. Katie is shocked by this announcement. Katie was not sure how it would be possible to take the next step with Dominic and how the living arrangements were going to work with Antonia living with Dominic. All Dominic asked of Katie was to get to know his grandmother and to take her time in making a careful decision. That’s where this story really picks up, because we not only see the love between Katie and Dominic, but we also learn about the love between Antonia and her husband. As Antonia begins to tell Katie the story of her love, not only do we see Katie examine her own relationship, but also, her relationship with Antonia and if she will be able to live with her. This is truly a heartwarming love story that makes you keep your fingers crossed for the main characters and hope that they end up together with their happily ever after.

The second story is called Merry Christmas. This was definitely a different take on a love story and relationship between the two main characters Henry and Rebecca. Henry is a guard at a museum, but what he loves to do is paint. Through his painting and the museum, he meets Rebecca and falls in love with. Henry keeps his relationship a secret from everyone because he was afraid of judgment. The twist that this story takes is one that I don't think any reader would see coming.

Although these two stories are short and completely different, they are worth the read.

What a lovely short book.
I loved the first romantic story of Dantes Gift. It felt so nice reading this one as it didn’t seem fake. It could have been a real romance.
The story was light and well written.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one.

A Chicago Christmas Collection has two short stories previously published separately: Dante's Gift and Merry Christmas, Henry. Dante's Gift has two different timelines, one is about Katie and Dominic's engagement in the present and the other is about Dominic's grandmother Antonia who lives in Italy meeting her husband Ken during World War II. Antonia is coming to live with Dominic in Chicago since she is getting old and should not be living by herself. I especially enjoyed reading and learning about Antonia rather than Katie who I found a bit shallow.

Merry Christmas, Henry is a heartwarming 40 page short story about Henry who is a painter by day and guard at a museum by night. The love of his life is a woman named Rebecca who is in one of the paintings in the museum. What happens next was quite unexpected and unlike anything I have read in a Christmas novel before.
