I must say that I have enjoyed the books that I have read by this duo! So glad that I was able to review this latest book by them. The twisty, bendy, mind game puzzle is just up my alley. I would definitely recommend this to people who like puzzles. I really enjoyed this and had to force myself to stop reading way past my bedtime.

This is another book by Hendricks and Pekkanen that kept me totally entertained. It was right up my alley as far as psychological thrillers go.

Shay, a single woman looking for love and friendship, thinks she finds a new set of friends that will change her life. Unfortunately, she didn't realize they were setting her up for other things. Her new friends take her under the wing by giving her a make-over, finding her a place to live, and inviting her to their gatherings. Life is starting to look up for Shay...until it's isn't.

I definitely recommend this book, along with the other books written by these authors.

I was given this book for my honest review.

This book was slow to start, but once it got going it was good. There were quite a few characters introduced at once and because they didn't intersect right away it was easy to get distracted. The first half of the book wasn't very interesting to me and the MC was weak and spineless. The second half of the book really picked up and got interesting. The twists and turns were fun and the way the story developed was excellent. I enjoy these authors and will definitely continue reading their books, but this one was not a favorite of mine.

This was a fun domestic thriller! It was a fast paced, quick binge read for me. It’s the perfect book to read during this quarantine time.

Every once in awhile it’s nice to spend a whole day on my couch finishing a psychological/domestic thriller, which is what I did yesterday.

Set in New York City, the book reads like a set of diary entries from several perspectives and stars Shay who has just witnessed a woman throw herself in front of a subway train. Though Shay was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, as she tries to process the tragedy, her curiosity (and loneliness) leads her to become entangled in the deceased woman’s set of friends and eventually in a strange and dangerous situation.

To help frame the action, Shay’s chapters start out with statistics and psychological findings, which she is obsessed with.

"We tend to like people whom we perceive as similar to us. And the less information we have about a person, the more important these perceived similarities are in influencing our approval." - an entry from Shay’s data book

The book had amazing suspense. I remember feeling nervous about something as simple as opening an envelope.

As with most thrillers I read I found myself getting annoyed with the characters and thinking stop trying to solve this yourself, call the police!! And the ability of “normal” people to pull off some of the CIA-like operations is difficult to believe. But of course keeping those limitations wouldn’t make for as good of a book, and I wouldn’t be recommending it right now.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an electronic version of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Woah!! What a fantastic book! I’ve read all of the books these two authors have read, but this is my favourite! Thrilling, twisty, and all kinds of disturbing; I absolutely loved it and cannot recommend it enough!

I mean, this book was simply amazing and utterly, ridiculously addictive! You Are Not Alone is full of lies, deception, betrayal, secrets, and betrayal. Such a perfect recipe for a great book! I loved it!!

Shay Miller is one of the main characters. I liked her and felt so bad for her – she was alone and had no friends. She wanted to belong and have people in her life, but she felt so isolated. Nothing seemed to work out in her favour. She was single, alone and in a dead end job, yet she wanted to have a fulfilling job and wanted to find love. Enter the Moore sisters. They were beautiful, full of poise, confidence and glamour. They were successful, dressed well, had a great circle of friends, and the envy of Shay. Shay wanted to be like them, full of confidence, friendship, success and happiness.

Shay meets the Moore sisters and they quickly form a friendship much to Shay’s surprise and delight! Her luck seems to be about to change, for the better. She now has met some great friends, which opens up a whole new world for Shay. Maybe she can be happy, successful, glamourous, and confident, like the Moore sisters. She cannot believe her luck when they become close friends.

I found myself completely immersed in this book and I devoured it from beginning to end. It was a quick read for me and I finished this book in one day it is that good! There was so much going on in this book I didn’t know what would happen next and it was an edge of your seat read!

Well done Sarah and Greer. I have loved all your novels and I am excited to see what you come out with next!

Quick listen. A lot of movement and twists. While I was surprised by a lot, when revealed it felt predictable. I've read others by this combo, and it felt very cookie-cutter in its similarities to them.

That being said: if you're looking for an easy to digest, vacation thriller (that isn't terribly disturbing) -- this one would be a great choice!

I received this ARC copy from Netgalley. Thoughts are my own.

You Are Not Alone was an absolute page turner. I could not stop reading and simply had to know what was coming next. The sisters were relentless in their pursuit of Shay, an innocent victim. The ending was a little abrupt and predictable for me, but the book was excellent and still worthy of 5 stars. It will be one I recommend to friends who need a good mystery thriller.

Another twisty impossible to put down story from this dynamic duo. They have a gift for writing flawed interesting characters that just suck you in Shay is another one you will not know if you should root for her or dislike her. A good slow burn that is a perfect weekend read

The content of this novel does not make it an easy read, and may put off some readers, however this is a great psychological thriller. In a genre which is sometimes overwritten this is finely crafted and builds to a very satisfying conclusion.

Highly recommended.

I’m going to admit I didn’t think this book was going to get a solid review for about half the book. I should have known better. As a seasoned reader I should have seen it for the slow burn that it was and not just slow. The ending will shock you in the best ways.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the early digital copy in exchange for an honest review!

Trigger warnings: Suicide, rape, mention of panic attacks, killing of an animal, toxic familial relationships, alcoholism, body weight shaming, cancer / chemotherapy, manipulation, murder.

I read An Anonymous Girl by the same author duo, and I wasn’t a big fan. I had high hopes since it was considered a psychological thriller, but it ended up being more of a domestic thriller just without the chills and thrills. This one, however, was so much fun. This really was more on the psychological side, and had included more of a mystery.

You’re introduced to Shay, a single thirty-one-year-old statistics-loving woman. She has just been demoted at her market researching job and she can’t seem to find herself a man. She loves her best friend Sean, but he has a new girlfriend named Jody. She currently lives with Sean—and his girlfriend—YIKES! Shay takes the subway to work, but one day she witnesses a girl jump in front of the train, unexpectedly. That girls’ name was Amanda Evinger, a twenty-nine-year-old emergency room nurse, and she leaves her necklace behind. The moment Shay picks up the necklace is the moment her life changes…for the worst.

Meet Cassandra and Jane Moore, Stacey, Daphne, Beth, and Valerie. The unbreakable circle of friends. This aspect of the book reminded me of Bunny by Mona Awad, which I didn’t enjoy or understand at all, so I was hesitant to move forward. Thankfully this one didn’t confuse me like that one did.

This is a non-spoiler review, so I’m going to go into much more detail than that. Shay ends up getting involved with the circle of friends after going to Amanda’s memorial service (I believe) and chaos ensues. The group of girls actually threw me for a loop! They’re all pretty terrible, but there’s one in particular that I didn’t think anything about until things are being revealed. I was very happy with that. It also gets pretty dark as far as the reasons they have for their actions. Hence all of the trigger warnings at the beginning of my review.

I enjoyed how much I got to know the characters. I think the authors did a bang-up job with that. They all had their own personalities, and I never got them mixed up. The Moore sisters were like daylight and dark. It was a lot of fun to follow everyone around. I constantly wanted to scream at Shay because the reader finds out the plot twists before Shay does. She’s actually pretty dang gullible. That’s not to say that their actions are justifiable.

The one major point I didn’t like was how much the story jumped. I understand that it worked for the type of story, but it did take me out of the story a bit. Other than that, though, it was a ton of fun! I hope that you give it a try regardless of your opinion about their other novels. There are so many small details that went into this book, and I thought it was worth the read!

OᐯᗴᖇᐯIᗴᗯ: Shay Miller’s life changes in an instant when she witnesses a woman die a tragic death. Shay is so traumatized she becomes obsessed with learning more about this woman. Enter Cassandra and Jane, friends of this woman, who lead the type of glamorous life that Shay spires to live. They seem perfect and that they are in complete control of their destiny. But are they what they seem? Hendricks and Pekkanen did it again!

ᗯᕼᗩT ᗯᗩᔕ ᘜᖇᗴᗩT:
◇ The angst that Shay felt was so real that it made you want to root for her to find her purpose.
◇ Cassandra and Jane were perfect in a creepy way. It was easy to see how Shay could be drawn into their circle.
◇ The authors tell the story in alternating perspectives and that really keeps the reader off-balance.

ᗯᕼᗩT ᗯᗩᔕ ᗰIᔕᔕIᑎᘜ:
◇ The ending seemed abrupt for me and tied together almost too neatly after the grittiness of the story.

ᖇᗩTIᑎᘜ: ★★★★

Love these authors and their previous books, but this one takes my Number 1 spot. Read it in 1 sitting, couldn't put it down! A fast paced psychological thriller with lot of layers and twists and turns. Loved the very satisfying ending. Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC.

This is the third book by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, it's probably their best yet! Lately I've been finding most thriller storylines predictable but I couldn't figure this one out until all was revealed! The story does have quite a lot of characters but I managed to keep them all straight. I didn't feel like there were characters included who shouldn't have been. While I did enjoy the first two books by these authors, this one is definitely my favorite so far! I will be recommending "You Are Not Alone" to everyone looking for a good, twisty thriller.

I have read all over Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen's books, and loved each of them. This was no exception! I loved the different POV, these two authors know how to do it right. It can be a difficult balance to get it just right and create a novel that transitions from one character to another smoothly. I loved the story of Shay who loves numbers and statistics because I can relate to her so much. The mystery between the "family" of girls add to the tension perfectly. I loved this book so much and cannot wait to recommend it to all of my friends, family, colleagues, and patrons.

This dynamic duo’s novel The Wife Between Us was one of the first physical arcs I received when I started my account two years ago. I LOVED it - as well as An Anonymous Girl - so I was pumped to get a copy of their latest suspense read: You Are Not Alone.

Thriller fans rejoice. My poor anxious heart couldn't bear what was happening with Shay: I wanted to yell at her many, many times.

Shay loves data and stats, they're her "friends" which makes her rather lonely and awkward. She was in the wrong place at the wrong time when she witnessed something that will knock her off her axis (as if she wasn't already a bit unbalanced). Cue in this cult like group of women who will become Shay's friends: they are invested in making Shay "one of them." Is this a Clueless makeover arrangement or something sinister?

Once the story started picking up steam I got more and more nervous.

At the end of each chapter I had to take a break; holding my breath for that long is hard and I needed time to get my pulse back to normal.

It didn't have that must keep reading, page turning vibe that The Wife Between Us had for me, but it was a solid thriller with some nice twists. Hope you enjoy it!

Thank you to the kind folks at St. Martin's Press who sent me a copy of this book!

I would give this book a 4.5 star rating. You are Not Alone is one of those books that I consumed in one day. The main character, Shay Miller, seemed to be that person that just couldn't catch a break and witnessed a life-changing occurrence that would traumatize anyone. She feels like she is cracking up until a few ladies pull her into their close-knit group to assist her.

All I know is, I felt so sorry for Shay and wanted to shake her too many times to count. If I tell you anything, it will ruin the book so go out and buy it.

Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for allowing me to read this for an honest review.

Another great novel from this gifted duo! We are introduced to Cassandra & Jane, to high society sisters who have built their PR business on creating the perfect images for people. Enter Shay, recently unemployed and living with her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend. Shay meets the sisters at a memorial service, and is quickly swept into their elite world. Shay is obsessed with statistics & finds that the more time she spends with Cassandra & Jane, the more questions she has. Ultimately the sisters hold some sinister secrets and as Shay digs deeper, and gets closer to the truth, the sisters go to great lengths to silence Shay. Full of lots of twists & suspense and definitely makes you, like Shay, want to make sure you are alone. Thanks NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
