It took only 22 seconds for Shay’s life to be altered forever.

Shay witnesses a girl named Amanda commit suicide by jumping off the tracks of a New York subway station. She then becomes obsessed with Amanda trying to figure out who she was and why she did it. Shay infiltrates Amanda’s entire friend group including the Moore sisters, Cassandra and Jane.

The sisters appear to Shay as the friends she never had with their glamorous and successful lives. They treat Shay as if she was always one of them. She thinks lying to them about her connection to Amanda won’t hurt anyone. What could one lie do?

Amanda had secrets. Maybe this woman is one of them…

Shay is book smart, she loves statistics and data collection; but, she’s not people smart. She doesn’t realize that the Moore sisters aren’t as kind as they seem. They transform Shay into a carbon copy of Amanda, even going as far as moving her into Amanda’s old apartment. Why? What is their motive? What is going on?

I love this author duo and this release was one of my most anticipated books of the year. The premise was intriguing but overall it fell flat for me. Parts 1 and 2 were strong but it all fell apart in part 3. It ended up being a revenge story that relied on coincidences to get the plot moving. I was able to predict the events that would occur.

I will continue reading anything this duo puts out in the future because I love their writing style. The way they tell their stories captures you from the very beginning and you easily get lost in their book world.

The story takes a while to build up but it was worth it. I did not see that ending coming! It is a delicious and twisty read! Would definitely recommend!

I was given an ARC kindle copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book was great! The main character, Shay, is leading a non eventful life. Living with her roommate Sean, who she's secretly fallen in love with. One day her world changes drastically when she observes a woman jump in front of a subway car. She's drawn to this women, she wants to understand what happened to make her jump. Before she knows it, she's at the woman's memorial service and not knowing what to say to people asking how she knew the woman she lies. A couple of the woman's friends befriend Shay and before she knows it Shay is in way over her head. Are these women really her new friends? Or do they have an agenda? Kept me guessing until the very end.

You probably know someone like Shay Miller.
She wants to find love, but it eludes her.
She wants to be fulfilled, but her job is a dead end.
She wants to belong, but her life is so isolated.

You probably don’t know anyone like the Moore sisters.
They have an unbreakable circle of friends.
They live the most glamorous life.
They always get what they desire.

Shay thinks she wants their life.
But what they really want is hers.

Shay is a lonely girl. She is obsessed with statistical facts, which comfort her. her character is some what of a textbook, lonely, nerd. Shes been working temp jobs, struggling with her emotions (secretly shes in love with her roommate, who by the way, is in a serious relationship) and living a overall a very mundane life until one day she witnesses something that turns her life upside down.

Ok Ok Ok.......This author duo has officially won me over. this book was fast paced and kept me guessing till the end! I read a good amount of thrillers guys....i really didn't guess the twist in this one.

Pros: short chapters, i was really happy i had a lot of good stopping points whenever life wanted to inconvenience my reading. The characters kept my attention, i wanted to know more about them. i felt like Shay, i wanted to know about these mysterious women.

Cons (not really cons but things i wish i would have seen): while the story is told mostly through Shays point of view, we also get Cassandra and Janes viewpoints. i would have liked to see more viewpoints from the other girls in the group. Even a view point from Sean seeing his friends struggle or different behavior would have been a good addition in my opinion. There is a good cast of characters in this story, and they mostly took a back seat.

overall, this author duo is unstoppable!

True to form, Hendricks and Pekkanen deliver another masterfully written tale of suspense, manipulation and lies. What begins as a friendship turns into something much more sinister as deceits are unfolded and true savvy emerges. Engaging characters, a plot so full of twists and turns you may get whiplash, and an ending I didn’t see coming. Excellent!

I've heard talk of several books by these authors now, and this was my first of their books. Overall, it was a clever story. However, I think my problem was that I didn't particularly enjoy any of the characters, so I wasn't necessarily on the journey with anyone..

The main character Shay could have benefited from more development so that the reader would be more on her side. Shay is deeply lonely in one of the most populous cities in the world. In this sense, the way she latches onto strangers and trusts so easily is obvious. However, I rolled my eyes a lot at her inability to sense that things are too good to be true.

That being said, the twists in the story certainly kept me wondering throughout the book. I enjoy a little mystery, but I think the story would resonate more if the characters had more depth.

These are my new favorite authors. Every book that I have read by these two women has been phenomenal and this is no exception. I knew there was a link between Valerie and the Moore sisters, but was surprised at what it was due to the authors’ brilliant writing. I thought the book’s ending was the perfect way to conclude this story. Read this one, you will love it! Just make sure to leave time to read this in one sitting because you will not be able to put it

Of the 3 books written by this duo, this one was my least favorite. Don’t get me wrong, it was still a good read and Hendricks & Pekkanen are a writing force to be reckoned with, but this one just did not have the same sizzle as The Wife Between Us and Anonymous Girl.

The first issue I had was the too large cast of characters. I had a hard time keeping the secondary characters straight. I couldn’t remember all the friends in the circle and for lack of a better phrase, “who’s who in the zoo”. After a while, I just gave up and didn’t really care.

I liked the short chapters and the fact that the story moved along at a good pace, but there was no big “aha” moment. One of the best aspects of The Wife Between Us was the mid-point twist (which is a doozy) and then the final twist which closed all of the loops. You Are Not Alone didn’t have any “big” moments, the story just unfolded and there wasn’t anything that left me with my kindle in my lap and my jaw hanging open.

I am clearly in the minority with enjoying the book but not being blown away by it, so I would highly encourage you to check it out for yourself.

“You Are Not Alone” begins as a first person present tense narrative by Shay Miller. She is a market analyst in New York City, and diligently records data on everything in her journal. She shares what she does and what she sees, and what she sees is startling and traumatizing, a statistical anomaly that changes her life forever.
The story continues in alternating voices in alternating chapters, conveniently labeled for readers. This is Miller’s journey, but it is guided by those she meets. Miller reaches out to strangers to seek answers and finds a circle of new friends, or perhaps what she finds is a perilous association of dangerous people who scour the internet, looking for her routines, contacts, and background, desperate to find every microscopic detail of the “real” Shay Miller.

The narrative jumps back and forth in time from the present, to a few weeks ago, and even many years in the past. The past reaches out to direct and explain the present, and echoes of past happenings set in motion actions in that continue in the present. These events and have consequences that must be handled. That past also provides answers to complex questions and explains multifaceted relationships.

“You Are Not Alone” is fast paced and gripping; written in short chapters with almost cliff-hanging endings. The characters live in a dark complex world. They are good and evil at the same time and keep readers guessing about where their alliances really lie. I received a review copy of “You Are Not Alone” from Greer Hendricks, Sarah Pekkanen, and St. Martin’s Press. It is a complex plot full of surprises on every page. This is a compelling book and perfect book “binge reading.”

I’ve read and enjoyed other books by these two authors and was very excited to get this one. It pulled me right in and didn’t let go. From start to dramatic finish this one held me captive for sure.
You Are Not Alone is a great title. A great book. I loved it.

Shay witnesses a suicide that will change her life forever. She goes from being a shy young woman who is working for a temp agency to making some friends who she leans on for support throughout this story. She’s torn apart after what she saw and gets deeply involved in the dead woman’s life. She even starts to look like her...

But eventually things turn south for Shay. She has no one to turn to. No one she can trust and she’s alone and running for her life in New York. Riding the subway and trying to figure out who she can turn to and who may want to harm her is wearing her down fast. Lack of sleep and food make her life even harder. What can she trust. Who can she trust. Is there anywhere she can go to feel safe again. She’s being framed for a murder she did not commit. She has no idea why or who the person is she’s supposedly killed. Even her roommate has turned on her it seems. He was her best friend at one time. Shay has only one choice, to find out for herself who is trying to get her. She can’t seem to trust the detective who thinks she may have had something to do with a murder. She can’t even trust herself.

All Shay wanted was a life a love and a home. A good job and friends. She meets the Moore sisters and thinks she has found the friends at least. But are they truly her friends or do they need her for something way more sinister. Are they to good to be true or is their group up to no good. What are they hiding and who are they really. That is the big question Shay needs to be asking.

This book will pull you in and have you wanting more. It will keep you turning the pages and wondering who can be trusted from the beginning. Is Shay really who she claims to be or is she playing games. Are Cassandra and Jane for real or are they up to more than it appears. This book holds a few surprises for the reader. It had me for sure. I didn’t see it coming and that is unusual for me. I did not figure out who was who.

The characters, although dark and untrustworthy, are likable. The setting is great and I felt like I was actually riding that subway day and night with Shay. I felt her fatigue and her fear. I felt her loss when she had no one to turn to. I cried in many places and even laughed in a couple. This is a very good book that I honestly enjoyed from the very beginning. I hated for it to end.

Thank you to #NetGalley, #St Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for my true and honest review.
A huge 5 stars from me and a very high recommendation..

I was excited to see another book by this duo however this one just did not do it for me. It was just so strange to me and I couldn't really get into it and unfortunately was not able to finish it. This is not to say that others will not enjoy it- just not my thing. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an ARC copy.

On a Sunday morning Shay Mitchell headed off to work is waiting for a subway when she witnesses a woman jump onto the tracks to her death. Shay is unable to get this  woman Amanda out of her head and ends up at her funeral where she meets Amanda's friends , The Moore Sisters, Cassandra and Jane. While Shay is interested in befriending the Moore sisters as she is fighting loneliness , the sisters too take a keen interest in Shay’s life, but what do they really want from Shay?

You Are Not Alone is the third psychological domestic suspense by the duo Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen and having loved the other two I knew I would enjoy this one and was not disappointed. I found this to be  a compulsive read, so hard to put down, full of suspense and tension , a little unbelievable plot but enjoyable nevertheless.

I would like to thank St. Martin’s Press & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

While I have loved the previous books by this duo, this one seemed so formulaic. Twist after twist until it just got crazy.

4 Stars. This is the third psychological thriller I have read by the authors and I have enjoyed them all. The main character is Shay and quite a bit of the story is told from her point of view. She is obsessed with statistics and had made a career of it. However, she has lost her job due to harassment and her boyfriend because of another woman. She has moved in with a male friend and is pretty low.

There are other chapters told from the point of view of the Moore Sisters, who become key players in this thriller. Shay becomes entwined in their lives, or is it, they become entwined in hers? She immediately accepts help from them in the areas of job hunting, dating, self-care. Just being friends with them promises her a much happier and productive life. But, are they all they seem to be? What is their real motivation for helping this down and out young woman?

I thought it a well-done plot and recommend the read for those who enjoy psychological thrillers.
Many thanks to NetGalley for a digital ARC to read for review. Love these authors and will be on the lookout for anything they have coming up! (less)

The dynamic duo is back with a book you are sure to love. I loved The Wife Between Us, so I couldn’t wait for this one to come out! Shay is a girl who loves her data. She’s had some bad luck recently, so statistically, her luck she really be improving. Then, she meets the Moore sisters. They are successful and glamorous and since meeting them, everything in Shay’s life has improved. The only problem is Shay told a lie to the sisters. What will that lie end up costing her? Told from multiple points of view, this book is sure to reel you in!

You Are Not Alone is another stunner of a thriller by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. I do not know how these authors can work together to create a book with an easy to follow storyline that has plenty of twists for the readers. Shay is floundering in life after witnessing a stranger commit suicide. She befriends two sisters who appear to be connected to the suicidal stranger. This friendship leads her into a deep rabbit hole that she struggles to come out of. Read and enjoy!

This book was entertaining and fast-paced, with a few turns I did not see coming. I liked the statistics at the beginning of chapters and thought they tied in well with the story line. I thought the sisters could have been developed a bit more, as I didn't understand how they had all the money and time to do the things they did. thought the ending was a bit rushed, and although there was a big twist, I ended up just thinking, "oh, I see" and not figuratively gasping.

I liked this book.

This was my first book by the lovely and famous duo Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen and I totally loved it. I am really smitten by their approach. The chapters by multiple characters presenting their point of view kept me quite interested and on my toes all the time. It was like they are serving you as much knowledge as you need at a point, neither less, not more. Just right. The characters were quite interesting and made it a very intriguing read. It was a total page-turner with short chapters.

These two authors always have some crazy plot twists and this book is no exception! The plot keeps you wondering what will happen next until the very end. However, I felt as thought the book took a little too long to get to that crazy ending. The different points of view from the characters were great but at times confusing. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys thrillers and unexpected endings!
