SYNOPSIS | Shay Miller witnesses a woman commit suicide by throwing herself in front of an oncoming subway train. Shay is both devastated & yet intrigued by what she has witnessed so she starts to investigate the woman's life. She leaves flowers at her apartment, attends the funeral and ends up befriending the woman's friends.

MY THOUGHTS | This was my third book by the dynamic duo that is Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen and sadly each book that I have read has gone a little bit more downhill for me. I am writing this review several weeks after reading the book and to be honest, I can hardly remember the story now (clearly it stuck with me!).

Opening with our main character Shay witnessing a subway jumper suicide, this book went in a decidedly different direction than I initially presumed. Always a welcome surprise in the ceaseless publication of mystery and thriller novels.
If you are a regular on my site, by now you know that I don’t…and will never…regurgitate the book flap coverage or divulge paragraphs worth of plot. This is not just a choice but also a necessity when it comes to books in these particular genres.
So, what can I say? Bitches be crazy. You’ll see for yourself if you choose to read this. And to be clear, you should read this!
An intricate plot with complex motivations, shallow characters and swiftly shifting narration, this book is a perfectly delightful way to spend a few hours escaping the day to day drudge that can creep up on us.

The highly anticipated new book by the popular Hendricks/Pekkanen duo leaves a lot to be desired. The story of a lonely woman who witnesses a suicide then her life spirals out of control. While trying to keep it together she lets her guard down trying desperately to fit in with a group of “friends”. I felt like the story was well paced and it kept you engaged. I wanted to know what was going to happen. However, it left me with a lot of questions. There were connections that weren’t made. Things that didn’t flow as it could have. For about the first half of the book I had no idea what was even going on. Just kind of all over the place and not as polished as it could have been.

I am not sure how I feel about this book. I enjoyed reading it, which is probably the most important part. But I don't think I want to dive too deeply into whether it is realistic or the technicalities of what happened. That might ruin it for me. Without that deep look, I think the story does a great job of staying right on that line of what makes for a good thrilling ride (I mean read) while still saying just plausible enough to not suffer the reader eye rolls. I liked that a few of the expected events didn't go the way the characters wanted them to and these missteps were included. It was almost as though the authors knew it was close and they wanted to make sure the readers stayed engaged. Add this one to the list of solid quality suspense books!

Greer Hendricks is a duo that never fails to disappoint with a twisted thrilling ride. You Are Not Alone is no exception to this rule. This is a fast paced well-written book that will leave you guessing until the very end. I am not sure how this writing duo comes up with these crazy stories that blow my mind . Every.Single.Time.

You will not want to miss this story. It is a great well written story with well developed characters and plot.

Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have once again delivered a can’t eat, can’t sleep, must read thriller. This novel has a lot of moving parts, and I think that makes it a novel that you will not be able to put down.

Shay Miller is in the wrong place at the wrong time when she witnesses a tragedy. Not only does the event affect her emotionally, it also affects her social life. Through seemingly coincidental events, Shay meets the Moore sisters. Jane and Cassandra Moore seem to have it all, they live a life of luxury, are among the social elite of New York City and always seem to know what is going on in the lives of their close-knit friend group. Simultaneously, Shay has a high interest in her new social scene with Jane and Cassandra, and Jane and Cassandra take special interest in Shay as well, but are their intentions the same or is there something more sinister happening with this unlikely friendship?

This book, simply put, was fun. It bounces around from multiple perspectives providing just enough background that keeps a reader guessing. Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen do a great job creating a suspenseful thriller while also adding in some chick-lit flavor. I have yet to be disappointed by their works.

Another thriller that is so hard to review without including spoilers- all I need to say is go pick this one up now! The story is so masterfully told, unfolding with clues that really made me believe I was going to be able to figure they mystery out. Once I was about 25% into the book, I did not want to put it down and despite having a busy week, I made sure to squeeze in a few chapters whenever I could. This is a thriller you will definitely fly through once you get into it!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing me with an ARC of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen’s newest thriller; You Are Not Alone. In exchange for the ARC, I offer my unbiased review.

Having read and loved The Wife Between Us and enjoying their second collaboration An Anonymous Girl, I was excited to read their latest work You Are Not Alone. The story begins with an explosive opening, a young woman witnesses another woman leap to her death in a subway station. Feeling an unnatural attachment to the event Shay Miller seeks to learn more about the mysterious woman who chose to end her life in such a dramatic way. Attending the memorial service, Shay is befriended by a group of women who had a unique bond with the deceased. As shay falls deeper into this group she begins to see something sinister is underneath the friendship.

I found the story pretty implausible, with too many holes and inconsistencies to make this story even remotely believable. I was disappointed with the character development and found myself rushing through the pages to see how the mystery would take shape. I will say the twist was a worthy surprise and amped my overall rating up. So a two star read with a four star twist. Not my favorite book from this writing team.

This story seemed to move with the speed of light, taking dubious situations and turning into a likely thrilling tale. It wouldn't be unreasonable to suggest clearing a large block of time to get through this novel, because you'll be so engrossed you'll forget everything else.

I have read all of the author'ssbooks and find them to be a good escape. This was no exception. A fun diversion for an afternoon read when the rest of the world seems to be coming apart, more every day. The book was some what predictable but always enjoy the writing and the occasional surprise.

At first glance, my reaction to the storyline was, "oh, here we go again" After reading some more, I was surprised by our unquie main character Shay whose seems like someone we all know. She has a love for statistics, and I found that an interesting and fun part of the story.

You Are Not Alone starts off with my least favourite storyline with suicide, and we are left wondering why along with our main character Shay. For me, this created little suspense to drive the story forward story and things were not off to a good start. Things do get a bit complicated when Shay meets sisters Cassandra and Jane. Some tension started to rise when a game of who can outsmart who begins. I enjoyed the dynamics between Shay and the sisters.

Well, not my favourite from the authors overall it was a satisfying read that wrapped up well for me

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the advanced reading copy of You Are Not Alone by Greer Hendricks and Sara Pekkanen. I can't wait to start this book.

Greer Hendricks and Sara Pekkanen wrote the thriller The Wife Between Us in 2018 that I absolutely loved. Then in 2019 they wrote An Anonymous Girl which was mediocre. I went into this novel wondering where it would place.

Without giving away too much This novel has a similar writing style to their previous two works. This is a psychological thriller with dual point of view.

There are Cassandra and Jane Moore. They are two beautiful, wealthy, and successful sisters. While at a memorial service for their close friend they meet Shay.

Shay is an easily likeable and quirky young woman. She seems to have everything going wrong. She has financial burdens and a poor social life. Shay seems to be consumed by loneliness. Things only become worse when Shay witnesses the death of a stranger. This brings her to meet the Moore sisters whom she becomes easily entranced with. They seem to take a quick liking to Shay and want to bring her into their friend circle but some friends might not be worth having.

I highly recommend this novel to readers who like unreliable narrators. If you liked this book it is worth looking into their previous two works.

This is the third book by this writing duo, and again, their latest release was also available as one of the Book of the Month Club's options. This is another entertaining thriller! Told mainly from Shay's point of view, she is a 31-year-old data analyst living in New York City. Her life is completely shaken when she witnesses an apparent suicide on the subway tracks. Shay sets her analytical mind to learning more about the young woman and ends up striking new friendships with the deceased woman's friends.

As the perspective switches back and forth, the pacing is actually slowed down a bit with some of the scenes being covered rather redundantly, albeit from a different point of view. I particularly enjoyed the inclusion of Shay's data book of facts. The New York City setting adds a vibrant backdrop, too. This pair really writes well together and though this isn't my favorite of theirs (their first book is still my favorite!), this one is definitely well-plotted and took many unexpected turns. I really did enjoy it and I am looking forward to seeing what they will create next!

You Are Not Alone, the third title by the writing team of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen is a clever, fun, twisty, page-turning psychological thriller. If you enjoyed The Wife Between Us and An Anonymous Girl, you will certainly be satisfied with this novel. I would even say it’s the best of the three titles.

Solid 4 stars for this one. This duo writes some of the most compelling thrillers full of lies, manipulation, deceit, and secrets - primarily between women. The power dynamics they’re able to craft are smart, sharp, and unpredictable. I enjoyed this trope in An Anonymous Girl and I definitely enjoyed it here as well.

Shay Miller is a thirty-one year old data analyst living in NYC with a fairly pedestrian life. One day, however, she sees a beautiful young woman jump in front of a subway train and commit suicide. This event changes the course of Shay’s life. Shay is deeply affected by this woman, Amanda’s, death, and is determined to know more about her. Little does she know, Amanda was caught up in a secretive group of strong, powerful women led by two glamorous, alluring sisters: Cassandra and Jane Moore. As Shay meets the sisters and becomes tangled up in their lives, Amanda’s past life, and a dense web of lies, she begins to realize that she’s in over her head.

There are tons of infinitesimal twists, reveals, and strategies playing out at every moment, and you are left powerless to try to guess what will happen next. This was a very solid, captivating thriller once you get into it, and a great choice for anyone who likes to be taken on a ride with reads like this. Looking forward to the next work by Hendricks and Pekkanen - they are a rockstar duo. Thank you to the publisher for the ARC via Netgalley!

These two authors do not disappoint. This is the second book I read from them and it was as exciting as the other. You are not alone is an intelligent thriller with many twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I could not put it down, I had to know what happens next. The ending was sensational, surprising, and absolutely perfect. If you have not read a book by this dynamic duo, I recommend you pick one very soon. You will not regret it! 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲 will be a great hit!

I think I have the unpopular opinion here, but I wasn't a fan of this book. I recently read The Wife Between Us, which I loved, so I had high hopes for You Are Not Alone. However, from the first couple chapters I was confused. I didn't know who any was and I felt like I was being introduced to too many characters too quickly and they were blurring together. I also weirdly thought Judy, Sean and Shay were in some sort of three-way relationship for a couple chapters?

The book didn't really pick up and get good until about halfway in. Then there was a span of a couple chapters were I couldn't put the book down. Or maybe I was that bored? But by the end I got the vibe that Shay was not in really any danger and I spent the end of the book totally mad at her. Why was she making such ridiculous dumb decisions? Why was she digging herself into this hole of lies? Why?! I didn't connect with her, or feel bad for her. And I didn't care what happened because in a way I kind of felt like she deserved it.

The book wrapped up in the span of two pages and was done. The whole thing felt hald-baked and rushed and I love their other book better. So I'll totally give the next one a try, but my expectations will be lower then when I started this book.

This thriller is filled with spiteful, revenge-seeking and hateful characters, but they will keep you on the edge of your seat!

After reading “An Anonymous Girl”, I had to give this one a try. Although I didn’t care for it quite as much, it was still worth the read. These two authors are an outstanding pair! They can put together a complicated and engrossing thriller!

With friends like these, no one needs enemies! This very secretive group of women blew me away with their devious and calculating behavior. There were a few too many characters for me to keep track of and get involved with. Other than that, it was another hit for me.

<blockquote>”Numbers never lie. Statistics, charts, percentages—they don’t contain hidden agendas or shades of gray. They’re pure and true. It isn’t until people start meddling with them, spinning and shaping them, that they become dishonest. —Data Book, page 1”</blockquote>

Shay is obsessed with statistics. I enjoyed her quirky pieces of data at the beginning of her chapters. I’m not sure how accurate they are, but there were some interesting tidbits that have never crossed my mind before!
