I read and really enjoyed The Wife Between Us, which had a twist I really didn’t see coming. I was kind of expecting the same in You Are Not Alone.

The book started out with a tragic and intriguing opening, as main character Shay is standing on a New York City subway platform when she sees a young woman jump in front of an oncoming train. Shay, shocked and traumatized, picks up a necklace at the scene.

I liked Shay as a character. She’s a person who understands the world through numbers and statistics. She’s a little socially awkward. After the incident, she leaves flowers at the dead woman’s apartment. There she sees a flyer for the memorial service, which she attends. There she meets two sisters who were friends of the victim, Cassandra and Jane. They start to take Shay under their wing and help her sort her life out.

This all sounds nice, like the reassuring interpretation of “You Are Not Alone.” But Cassandra and Jane are creepy. They have a very close-knit group of friends who all wear GPS tracking necklaces because of the “dangerous work they do.” Through Shay’s picking up the necklace (which belonged to the victim) she’s now on their radar. Literally. And then “You Are Not Alone” takes a whole new meaning. Eeep!

For me, the best part of the book was trying to figure out what Cassandra and Jane are up to. But once I did, it a) didn’t make all that much sense and b) made less and less sense the more I thought about it. I felt the story did have some interesting elements (like Shay and the fact that in 2020, we are all sort of under surveillance) but all the what and the why didn’t really do it for me.

Even though I didn't like this as much as The Wife Between Us, I remain a fan of this writing duo and look forward to checking out whatever mayhem they come up with next!

Woah my god. A one day read. And I have a toddler. Need I say more?!? I am a huge Hendricks and Pekkanen fan and I was blown out of the water!!! Well done ladies!! Keep up the excellent work!!!

What a ridiculously captivating and wild novel. I am left breathless and wanting more. This will be the book I recommend to EVER when they say ask.

Thank you Sarah and Greer for writing this twisted masterpiece and St. Martin's Press and Netglley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. I could not love this book more.

This is the third book I have read from these ladies and I was wondering if it was going to be as good as the others. Yep still a mind blowing crazy twisted ride. I love every second of this story. The twists and turns make my emotions go all over the place. I was completely hooked from the very beginning and couldn't physically put this book down. The writing is dark and hauting but complete perfection. The story is unique and one I won't be able to forget for a long time. I can't wait to read their next book.

I was so excited to dive into 'You Are Not Alone' because I LOVED this duo's previous books and recommend them to everyone! This book started off on a very strong note for me. This authors begin the book with an attention-grabbing scene, that immediately made me want to keep reading. Unfortunately, for me the rest of the story just did not keep up the expectation and pace of the opening scenes.

I found the main protagonist Shay to be very likable, but the rest of the characters just fell flat for me. I loved Shay's obsession with numbers and order and I certainly respected the characters' motivations; however, they just did not have any kind of real-world feel for me and I did not feel much empathy toward them. (This review will be vague because this book is filled with spoilers and is best read without any expectations or knowledge of the plot.)

The pace of the book felt a little tedious at times, but because I am such a fan of the authors, readers who love psychological thrillers should definitely give this one a try. Lots of readers loved this one, but the characters and the conclusion just felt unsatisfying to me. The authors write brilliantly together, but this one was not a favorite of mine.

Overall, I cannot wait for the authors next book because I am sure it will be just as clever and engrossing as their earlier thrillers!

Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have mastered the Creepy Girl book genre with their third novel, You Are Not Alone. Each chapter alternates viewpoints allowing the reader to know the fascinating characters well. Shay is a young woman living in New York and she is struggling. She has recently been laid off from her job and her best friend is busy with her baby. Shay has a major crush on her male roommate but he has a serious girlfriend. When Shay witnesses a woman end her life by jumping onto the subway tracks her life spins out of control. Luckily she meets glamorous sisters Cassandra and Jane and they become fast friends with Shay. The assistance and gifts they give Shay are remarkable. The sisters are too good to be true and Shay feels lucky to have been taken under their wings. Her life has turned around. Is Shay blessed to have met Cassandra and Jane or are they too good to be true? The authors constantly reek havoc with their reader's emotions in the most delightful way. The crisp writing style and fascinating plot are what make You Are Not Alone one of the most enjoyable reads of the year.

I fell in love with this author duo when I read The Wife Between Us. It absolutely blew my mind with its various twists and turns that I did not see coming. So when I had an opportunity to read their latest novel, You Are Not Alone, I jumped at the chance.

Plot: Woman witnesses another woman jump to her death in front of a subway train. She then proceeds to obsess over the suicide and why the deceased woman made the decision to jump. Along the way she befriends some folks that knew the dead girl and a bunch of weird events ensue.

This book was an extremely quick read, the writing definitely lending itself to a page turner. However, that's kind of where the enjoyment ended for me. The "believability factor" for this story was really low. I could not imagine a person making such absurdly stupid decisions in real life so had a hard time believing the actions of both the main character and the various ancillary characters. I also didn't care for the multiple backstories of the ancillary characters; I didn't think they contributed much to the primary story line. And I had a really hard time differentiating between many of the ancillary characters. With the exception of a couple of them, they all kind of ran together for me.

All of that being said, it wasn't an awful book. It just wasn't my favorite, especially given the high standards I've set for this author duo given their previous works.

-I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley, Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to review.-

I am a huge fan of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. I loved their previous novels An Anonymous Girl and The Wife Between Us. So of course, this novel was immediately added to my “to be read ASAP” list.

Thirty-one-year-old, Shay Miller is a market researcher. From a very young age, Shay realized that numbers affected the way people saw each other. She then started keeping track of stats in data books (her version of a diary). Shay is very aware of her personal stats. She is thirty-one, single, and was recently let go from her job. Her first priority is finding a new job. She has an interview the next day.

Later that day, Shay is waiting for her train when she witnesses something horrific. She’s unable to get what happened out of her head, The next day her interview doesn’t go so well. She arrives late and flashbacks leave her unable to concentrate properly.

Things can’t possibly get any worse….

All Shay has ever wanted is to be loved and accepted. Then Shay meets the Moore sisters. Cassandra and Jane Moore see that Shay is struggling and they seem to want to help.

Suddenly Shay doesn’t feel so alone.

Cassandra and Jane Moore founded their own PR Firm in their mid-twenties. They are successful, confident, and glamorous, everything Shay wants to be. They are so kind and they make Shay feel like she belongs. Now Shay has a social life and a new job on the horizon.

Things are FINALLY looking up.

However, Shay is completely unaware that someone out there is following her, delving into her background, and trying to find out everything they can about her.

Why are they doing this? Is she in danger?

Soon nothing feels safe and Shay doesn’t know where to turn.

This was an intriguing and twisted tale that reminds us to be careful what we wish for.

Quite a bit of the story is told from Shay’s point of view. There are also chapters from the Moore sisters as well as a few other characters. Although some chapters take place in the past, I didn’t have trouble keeping everything and everyone straight. However, I did find that the story got a little slow at times. I also got a bit frustrated with some of the character's actions but overall, I thought it was a pretty entertaining and engrossing read.

I really liked how Shay’s data book information was shared at the beginning of her chapters. I found a lot of the data and facts very interesting. While it may not be my favorite by the duo, I still really enjoyed this novel and can’t wait to see what they write next!

I'd like to thank the publisher for providing me with a copy of this novel. All opinions are my own.

You Are Not Alone by Greer Hendricks is a dark and intense thriller that will leave you at the edge of your seat. The writing is absolutely thrilling and the characters are interesting. It is one that I would highly recommend to fans of Big Little Lies.

The concept of You Are Not Alone is interesting and terrifying at the same time. It is a dark thriller that is believable and scary because the circumstances can happen to anyone. It is quite easy to see yourself in Shay’s shoes.

❀ NEUROTIC MAIN CHARACTER

Although, Shay is a relatable main character, she is a bit neurotic. She is obsessed with facts and statistics and researches everything around her. If that’s not enough, she also records all of this data in a journal. That being said, Shay is still likeable and it is easy to empathize with her situation.

❀ LOTS OF SIDE CHARACTERS

The book is told from multiple perspectives with a focus on Shay and the Moore sisters (Cassandra and Jane.) It is fascinating to watch the story unfold through these different points of view, however the one thing that I must say is there are lots of side characters. At times it is hard to keep track of them, but this didn’t affect my overall enjoyment of the story.

If you enjoy a thriller that is on the darker side, You Are Not Alone by Greer Hendricks is one to watch for. The premise is one that is believable and scary. It is a fast-paced book that will leave you surprised at the end.

Somehow, I have not yet picked up a book by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, despite hearing amazing things about their previous novels. So I decided to start with You Are Not Alone, and I am not disappointed! This is a thrill ride from start to finish, and I cannot wait to pick up their other books soon. In You Are Not Alone, Shay Miller witnesses a terrible tragedy at a time in her life when nothing seems to be going right. Following the tragedy, she becomes enmeshed in the lives of two sisters - Jane and Cassandra. As she becomes more involved with the sisters and the women in their lives, Shay's life begins to change dramatically. Fast-paced, intriguing, full of twists and turns and vengeance, I cannot recommend this one enough.

I swear this duo just get better and better with each book they write!

Shay Miller is in a rut. She has a dead-end job, no luck in love and an all-consuming feeling that she just
doesn’t belong. When she unexpectedly witnesses the suicide of a young woman on the subway she becomes compelled to know as much about this woman’s life as she can which ultimately leads her to the beautiful and sophisticated Moore sisters who prove to be both her salvation and her living
nightmare.

From the very beginning I was captivated by this book. Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen pulled out all the stops with a mesmerizing, twisted and invigorating thriller that you could not tear from my hands.

If page-turning suspense is what you’re looking for, You Are Not Alone is one book you do not want to
miss!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing a copy of this book to read and give my own,

Hendricks and Pekkanen excel at creating a creepy vibe from ordinary life. When a woman witnesses a suicide she feels drawn into that woman's life. She finds a set of tony friends that appeal to her, but she gets more than she bargains for when she tries to figure out what made the woman jump in the first place. Fast-paced and twisty.

You are Not Alone by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkan

Thanks to St. Martin’s Press for my advanced copy. All opinions are my own. I’ve been a long time fan of this duo’s thrillers, but this one missed the mark. While the story was unique (no spoilers), it was also dull. I wasn’t really invested in it. There was maybe one twist that caught me off guard, but I expect more from this duo. Given my love for their work, this story didn’t hold up. 3 stars.

Shay is a woman with a very small support system. She so desperately wants to fit in. To be part of the glamorous in crowd. But to what cost to her will this be?

I did enjoy this book very much. It was fast paced however there was no real big twist. There was a lot of action throughout the book but I feel that it was a bit predictable. You have Shay who has witnessed a murder however she believes it’s just a suicide. You have the Moore sisters Who are watching Shay and eventually work their way into her life. Shay is very trusting of these women. A bit too trusting really. She wants to be excepted so badly that she ignores the red flags along the way.

So if you’re looking for a fast-paced action packed book you have it. But don’t look for that big twist because it doesn’t really come.

You Are Not Alone was written by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. The book was released today by St. Martin's Press. I was given an advance copy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Shay is a hot mess. She has no real job, no apartment of her own, and is crashing with her best friend (oh btw she's totes in love with him) while his girlfriend is not so subtlety trying to push her out so she can move in. Fun, right? Just reading about how messy her life is stressed me out. Don't worry - it gets worse. When she sees a woman jump to her death in front of a train, she basically finishes falling apart.

Then she meets Cassandra and Jane, two sisters who seemingly have dream lives. They have flawless wardrobes, great jobs at their own PR company, and a dream group of friends. They take her under their wing, offering her new jobs and places to live, all while giving her dream makeovers. A NORMAL person would have found that suspect...but our dear baby bird Shay? SHE THINKS ALL HER DREAMS HAVE COME TRUE.

We all know what's about to happen. Everythingggggg hits the fan. All of a sudden, the police are wanting to question Shay about some criminal activity, and she realizes her dream may really be a nightmare.

This book was quite the ride. I don't know how many times I wanted to scream at Shay, or grab her and shake her while yelling "YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY BE THIS DUMB." I understand she was at a low point in her life, but this girl is clearly very intelligent. She keeps notebooks full of statistics. What normal person does that? Still, she was lonely enough that the first sign of attention got her hooked into something she never could have imagined.

This was my second book by the authors (An Anonymous Girl was my first), and I was hooked from beginning to end. I'm all for the drama their books bring. Give me allll the tea. I'm ready for the next book.

🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 Stars

This is the third book that I’ve read wrote by these authors and they continue to get better and better. There isn’t much I can say in this review because I don’t want to spoil this thriller for readers. The novel is fast moving with lots of twists and rather unique in its approach. Fantastic read and I can’t wait to see what these authors have next. Thank you for the advance review copy. I will be recommending this to all my thrilling lover friends.

Unputdownable. I started reading this book at a break neck speed and when I started creeping toward the mid way mark I panicked because I realized I would finish it soon and I didn't want it to end. This is easily one of 2020's bestsellers hands down. Make plenty of time to read this winner of a book because you'll forget about everything else. Ask my dog. She'll tell you. Happy reading!

Oh, what a tangled web - definitely describes this novel! Shay Miller is the main character. She is personable but not so good with people. She is very analytical and keeps a data journal in which she keeps all her facts as she accumulates them - this turns out to be a valuable asset for her in many aspects of her life. Her life is in a shambles - she needs a new job and a new place to live. Shay is trying to rectify her instability. She is on her way to set up some interviews and work on her resume. She goes down to the subway and is waiting on the train. A stranger comes up beside her and immediately jumps in front of an oncoming train! The woman's suicide horrifies Shay and she becomes obsessed with finding out about her life. This is where we get immersed in the tangled web of deceit. We meet several women who are somehow involved with Amanda, who is the woman that commits suicide. Shay is very gullible and extremely naive. The psychological deception is off the charts. A thriller of a novel - tangled up with treachery, duplicity, and betrayal. It keeps you wondering if poor Shay Miller can survive!

HAPPY PUB DAY!! 🎉🎉

Huge thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for my ARC of You Are Not Alone in exchange for an honest review.

I bought this book as an add on with bookofthemonth as well. I needed a physical copy for my collection. 😍

After reading The Wife Between Us and An Anonymous Girl Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen became quick favorites of mine. So when I heard they were coming out with another book I knew I HAD to read it! Needless to say, this duo has done it again!

This book captured my attention from the very beginning. Honestly, when I first started reading it I messaged my friend, Michelle, and said “OMG Shay is me!!” 😳😂. It’s crazy but I just related to her so much in the beginning of this book. She wants a job that she loves, to feel like she belongs and of course, to find love. Yet all these things continue to elude her and nothing seems to be going right for her. In reality, don’t we all know a Shay?! As I read along I couldn’t help but sympathize with her. She’s a bit quirky and loves numbers and statistics. She even keeps a little journal to record them all.

What Shay never expected was for one moment to change her life forever! Not only does she witness a girl jump to her death in the subway but then she meets the Moore sisters. They seem to have it all and when they take Shay under their wing she feels like she hit the jackpot. Shay realizes she’ll do anything for the sisters. When odd things start happening though she starts to question everything. Do the Moore sisters really have her best interest at heart or do they have a more sinister plan in store for her?

This story is told in various POV’s, which was a little confusing at times but eventually I caught on. I enjoyed all the twists and turns in this book and the ending shocked me. Overall, I’d definitely recommend checking this one out friends. I can’t wait to see what this duo comes out with next!!
