If you’re looking for a psychological thriller that really shakes things up and brings something new to the genre, you can’t go wrong with Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. I’ve enjoyed two of their other books and this newest one will not disappoint.

Shay Miller is off to enjoy a relaxing Sunday when she witnesses a woman jump in front of a moving subway train. Their eyes meet in the split second before the woman is hit and from that moment on, Shay is set on a path that will find out the truth about why this woman would do such a thing.

Shay ends up meeting some friends of the suicide victim and they are so nice and welcoming that Shay finds herself easily led into whatever they plan for her. Shay’s saving grace is that she is a data analyst. She carries a notebook to write in and her notes soon become the key to her realization of what is going on with her new circle of friends. They are about to destroy her life.

This was a slow build up, but still held my interest. When things started to fall in the place, I had to stay up past my bedtime because it was just too good to put down. I enjoyed cheering for Shay the whole way through the book.

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for allowing me to read an advance copy and give my honest review.

I enjoyed it but did not love it. Too many characters and I was not able to really connect with any of them. Some interesting twists and turns, however, not the intense suspense/thriller I was expecting from these authors after having read and absolutely loved their two previous books.

I don't know what it is about these two authors, but anything they publish is a must-read for me. I put off reading The Wife Between Us for the longest time and all I kept thinking as I read it was, "I did NOT see that coming!". Just a few weeks ago I finished The Anonymous Girl. I had the same thoughts, though not to the same degree. And with You Are Not Alone, even though I was curious and couldn't figure out the angle of Cassandra and Jane, I knew I needed to read on, and I knew it wasn't something I'd be expecting. This a great read, and a great third book by these two. Looking forward to anything they publish in the future because I'm always met with a story that I fall into that is both a page turner, and suspenseful (should I read this before bed?).

Wow! Another great book by authors Hendricks and Pekkanen. Four big fat stars.

Authors Hendricks and Pekkanen have created a captivating, riveting and bit chaotic story. Just love the writing style of this book. Like with any good mystery the authors leave clues along the way, but the outcome of this story was unpredictable.

Shey is a thirty something women trying to make it in NYC. After the break up with her boyfriend and losing her job, life is a struggle.. Shey is living with a male roommate and his girlfriend.in a small apartment and feels life a third wheel. Her less then perfect life and her loneliness are a key part to the story.

One morning on her way to her temp job Shey witnesses a woman commit suicide by jumping in front of a subway train. She is horrified and her life will be forever changed. Shortly after this Shey meets two sisters, Cassandra and Jane. They are everything she isn't successful, beautiful, popular and glamorous, The sisters seem to take on Shey and want to help her. But is this by design or by accident?

Shey' has a fascination and obsessed with statistics. The authors start each chapter with a stat. My favorite is : In a person's average lifetime they will walk by 16 killers.

Thank you St. Martin and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and give an honest review.

A psychological thriller well worth the read! I feel this is the best yet from this author duo and can’t wait for the next one. Without giving anything away, suffice to say you will want to read this one!

You are Not Alone is the third book I've read by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen. Like the others, it's a crime book / psychological thriller. My favorite was An Anonymous Girl, a five star book. This book comes second. Shay Miller is 31, drifting in her career and love life. Even her apartment doesn't look like it'll be hers for long.

On her way to a job interview, Shay witnesses a horrific suicide in the NYC underground railroad. That's when things spiral out of control in her life. Not only was she in the wrong place at the wrong time, but she resembled the young woman of her age, Amanda, who tragically took her life.

That's where the coincidences start, unfortunately. The set-up felt flawed and from there on in, it just worsened. For 2 such gifted writers, the two authors used ongoing coincidences and repetition to make up the plot.

The novel is made up of three parts, with Shay's the primary POV. The other POVs are of five young women who were known to Amanda, and of Amanda herself, told of course in flashback. There's the 2 charismatic Moore sisters, Cassandra and Jane, plus Daphne, Beth and Valerie. Shay can hardly believe that they want to befriend her; lonely, average Shay.

The POVs of all characters, but for Shay, are sometimes told in present time, but more often told of years past, often decades gone.

The flashbacks do tend to give me, 'oh no' moments. I hoped the chapters devoted to the past would be brief. Not all were.

When we're told about an incident from Shay's perspective then the same incident from the POV of one of the others, the plot becomes repetitive. The various characters surrounding Shay have similar voices, this making it hard to tell them apart, or to keep track of what they wished to gain.

This didn't cause you to be swept up by the plot, which felt like a plot device rather than a thriller. The psychologist's voice in An Anonymous Girl was cold and oh so cultured, rivetting and page turning. By trying to replicate that fivefold here, the authors have kind of lost the plot. The entertainment value dropped; instead, the lack of emotions and nondescript tone left me not caring that much.

The plot relies too much on coincidences and on others wresting control of Shay's entire life from her. Why she let them is not so convincing.  We see Shay Miller as perhaps being on the autism spectrum. Numbers and statistics make more sense to her than do people. She's naive, almost congenitally so. Her lack of guile makes her malleable, ready to please, easy to manipulate.

I understood the vigilante aspect of the plot early on. However, it's been done before, that too in the last few months. So, the originality factor is missing in You are Not Alone. The five women plus Jodi, Shay's flatmate's GF,  are portrayed as confident, poised women with a shadow underside that's hinted at. I won't reveal it. In fact, they were hard, fake and Iacking complexity.  It made reader engagement and emotional investment lacking.

You are Not Alone was well-written but short on plot. Would I read further novels by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen? Most certainly.  Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley fof an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Have you ever read a book that gives you secondhand anxiety? One that gives you a sense of tense nervousness and dread that just builds as the odds seem impossibly stacked against the main character? That guttural feeling is a sign of an amazing psychologically suspenseful thriller - and You Are Not Alone had that feeling in spades. This book was easily one of the best I've read so far this year (and last year, for that matter) and definitely my favorite psychological thriller I've read.

I'll be honest: I read this book in one sitting. That's how good it is. As soon as Shay started falling into the dark web of the Moore sisters, I couldn't take myself out of the story. This level of immersion and can't-put-down-ness (a new term coined by moi) is super hard to find, and something I haven't found in a book in a long time. From a technical standpoint, the writing is great - it's got an interesting style and is very high quality, you can tell the book is written by two highly experienced authors with a passion for the thriller genre. One thing I really had my eye out for was differing styles by each author, but the writing was seamless.

The suspense in this book is masterful - it starts small and slowly ramps up to the point of being nearly unbearable. As soon as the book kicks off, you get this slightly off-putting sense of unease and it only grows as Shay wades deeper into the world of the Moore sisters. This suspense was made possible by the tight, well paced plot. There weren't any extraneous scenes or lagging sections of plot, and every event built to the pulse-pounding finale. The best part of the plot was the fact that I got to the big finale scene and still wasn't sure how it was all going to pan out.

This book kept the cast of characters small and gave each of them an interesting backstory and storylines. The chapters rotated points of view - strategically revealed parts of the characters' histories that all contributed to the story and suspense. This style of storytelling was a very effective way to dole out bits and pieces of the story - it allowed me, the reader, to slowly make my way out of the dark as I realized that everything in the book was connected and just how big the web the Moore sisters web was.

Shay was the perfect main character for this book: she was naive but not clueless and she was trusting, but not stupid. She was jarred by the tragic event she witnessed early in the book, and was in a very vulnerable headspace. I think I loved her so much because she was realistic and believable - I could see myself in her shoes. The best part about Shay was how dynamic she was. She grew as a character and got more street wise - raising the stakes in the Moore sisters' deadly game. Speaking of the Moore sisters, they were some of the most interesting and complex antagonists that I've ever read - even as more of their history comes to light, you never quite know who they are or what their end game is. The rest of the Moore sister's friend group were equally intriguing and mysterious. You gotta love a book chock full of complex and dynamic women.

I have no idea why I waited so long to read a book by Hendricks and Pekkanen, but after You Are Not Alone, I'll be rush ordering the rest of their jointly written books ASAP. You Are Not Alone is a tightly wound, superb thriller that was genuinely unpredictable and impossible to put down. If you've already devoured this book and are looking for more psychological thrillers, be sure to check out these author's other books, The Wife Between Us and An Anonymous Girl. 5/5

Mixed feelings about this book. It is a suspenseful, thriller with an interesting story. That said, I just couldn't connect with the story. Read to end and it was good conclusion but just guess i was not feeling the genre this week. Maybe will reread again in future to see if enjoy as much as others then.

Okay so. I don't really know what I was expecting from this book? I had a hard time telling what this book is actually about since the synopsis of it is really... vague? And based on it, I was intrigued but couldn't tell if this would actually be something I would like or not. I haven't read the other books by this pair either so that didn't help. But I was intrigued so I picked this one up anyway.

And I'm really glad I did! Phew. What a book. I absolutely FLEW through this book! I couldn't get enough!! Even when I had to put it down, I was longing to pick it back up and find out what happened. Because this story is honestly fascinating?

So. What is it actually about? Lady vigilantes (kind of?) is the way the synopsis kind of had me leaning. And yes, that's kind of right? But this is more a story of be careful who you trust because people are not what they seem. And that is definitely my kind of story. But I also had a really hard time deciding who I was rooting for in this book. It is filled with a ton of compelling characters and, for a time, I couldn't decide who I sided with.

Because the main character, Shay, seems almost naive for most of the story (which is definitely the point) and you're almost cringing at her for not picking up on clues and letting so many things happen to her. And you almost want to side with Cassandra and Jane because who doesn't want the people who have wronged us to face consequences? So it's an interesting tale of right and wrong and how sometimes people just end up in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I also didn't see the twist coming. I honestly didn't think there would be a twist because it seemed like a pretty straightforward story and we seemed to get all the pieces as we went along. But. I was very wrong. And when the twist did happen, I was super not prepared. And because it completely blindsided me, I liked this story even more. It definitely wasn't what I was expecting (though I can't really even say what I'd been expecting).

Overall, this was a wonderfully written, well paced thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed. I would HIGHLY recommend this one! And I will definitely be picking up the other books by this pair!!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for allowing me the chance to read and review this book!

I've read other books by this duo, and I've enjoyed them. However, this one didn't meet my expectations. The writing was solid and seamless. It's amazing to have that with a duo. However, the story wasn't up to my expectations. Some parts were too predictable, while others were too drawn out. There were a couple surprises for me, but not as much as I usually find with this genre. I kept waiting for "more," which never came. The premise was interesting, but it fell a bit flat, overall. However, I'll still check out future books.

A fascinating premise is the spark that ignites this thriller...but ultimately it fails to deliver the fireworks of surprise it should have. This writing duo are masters of the twist...but this novel just doesn't deliver enough of them, alas.

2.5/5 stars for this one.

The first 2/3 of the book was fast paced and coherent. The characters were fleshed out well, except one, which lead to the confusing finale. The writing was above par, and the character chapter switch is a standard for this writing duo.

The last 1/3 was rushed and almost incoherent. The build up was decent but the letdown, so bad.

If you are a fan of their novels, you may get a better feel out of it but I really believe this book does not live up to the hype.

Shay Miller is lonely, needy. She’s fallen for her roommate, who unfortunately is in a committed relationship. On her way to her temp job, she witnesses a suicide. This completely makes her come unhinged, rightfully so. She becomes somewhat obsessed with the victim. Enter the Moore sisters and their band of merry women. As Robin Hood would steal, this group wants to teach lessons in a profound way. Vigilante justice with crazy thrown in.

Writing alone is a labor or love, but writing as a duo, where you need to come together cohesively, could be a nightmare. But, this best selling duo do it seamlessly. This is a fast-paced psychological thriller. I do enjoy their writing style, this cast of characters and their story line, but for all but one slight twist, I didn’t find it particularly shocking! Loved that Shay got her point across. I recommend this book that will be hitting stores on March 3.

Thanks to Net Galley and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC! I look forward to Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen’s next endeavor. Add them to my list of I’ll read whatever they’re writing!

Review to be posted on a B&N and Amazon on pub day.

So, this started off great. I was really into the characters and I have loved these two authors working together in the past. I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book! Somewhere in the middle I kept putting it down and not really caring if I picked it back up. The late middle really dragged for me. I knew where it was heading and I just wanted it to get there already. The main character does some really questionable things and wastes a lot of time and energy. The ending brought me back in. I wouldn't rate this as high as the other two collaborations, but it did redeem itself to some extent. And then there was the twist there. Doesn't there have to be? Actually, there really doesn't. It wouldn't have been enough without it, to be honest. Although, our heroine would have never figured anything without it.

If you’ve ever read one of Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen’s thrillers, you can attest to the fact they are typically ALL of the following things:

- compulsively readable to the point of losing all sleep til finished
- twisty to the point of severe whiplash and permanent shock face
- confusing as hell, making you question every single thing til the very last minute

Sound familiar? …this one is no exception! The twists were there. (holy heck that one at the end!) I pointed fingers at all the despicable characters. (b*tches be CRAZY!) And I read it one butt-numbing session with a box of wine, barely pausing to come up for air!

It was a wild story and a bit off the wall at times, but I do have to say it’s the best book they've put out so far in my opinion.

I didn't love their other two books, to be honest, but they do make an insanely good buddy read discussions!

This was my first book by these popular authors so I was eager to check out their writing style. This book was fast paced especially toward the end. A suicide occurs in the beginning of the book that Shay witnesses and this sends her life into a chaotic mess. Shay is a lost soul struggling to find her way in the world. Unfortunately she gets mixed up with the mysterious Moore sisters as she becomes obsessed with learning more about the suicide victim. As Shay gets more involved with the sisters her life initially starts to improve. She has had a physical transformation, she finds a new apartment and job and she has wonderful new friends. Unfortunately she soon learns nothing is as it seems. Shay eventually begins to realize just how dangerous her new friends are. I liked this book and it kept my interest and there were some good twists near the end.

I’ve read two previous books from this duo and each time I’ve enjoyed their work. They know how to suck you and keep you guessing and this time around with You Are Not Alone it was no different!

Shay Miller is young smart woman, but is having some career issues. Good thing she lives with one of her best friends who is supportive through it all. But she happens to have a secret crush on him. The problem with that is, he has a girlfriend. And kinda controlling one at that. But Shay lives her through using data and statistics data. She’s kinda obsessed with it uses it to make her life decisions, including her love life. One day she witnesses a young woman throw herself off a train platform. Of course watching someone commit suicide would shake anyone, but she’s finds a new obsession, learning everything there is to know about the woman. While at the young woman’s memorial service she meets the Moore sisters. They seem kind and caring. But she doesn’t know them but this is a way to find out more about the woman, so Shay befriends them but she soon finds herself in a game of cat and mouse.

Shay was a great narrator and sometimes a little of an unreliable one. From the start I felt for her. Her life is a mess from her career, to her family, to her family life to even her love life. She doesn’t have a lot of people that she lean on through all of it either and then she witness a suicide which makes things worse for her. Being estranged from her mother and her best friend/roommate is now in a relationship she craves the attention and friendship. Now, the Moore sister that she meets are gorgeous and successful and when they befriend her she is thrilled. But I guess the whole “looks can be deceiving” thing comes into play but she doesn’t see it. At first.

The story is told mainly from Shay but we are also given a few other perspectives from a few other characters too. With each of them, there are little clues here and there as to what was going on and what parts they may or not play. But with each character, the more questions arose. Now, I do love a good mystery so I just had to sit back and keep reading. I liked that the pacing of the story was slow and steady because it works so well with everything that was going on. There were plenty of suspenseful and some quite sinister moments along the way and some things that kept me on my toes. And while I had some things figure out early on, there were so many things that I certainly did not see coming. And the ending was definitely a shocker! And a fantastic one too!

You Are Not Alone was a suspenseful, page turning thrill ride, filled with mystery and deceit. For fans of twisty psychological thrillers this will be a hit for sure. It definitely was for me!

Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen know how to write a thriller. In You Are Not Alone, I thought I had the plot line figured out until the twists and turns had me up late reading past my bedtime! Highly recommended.
