This story will have you hanging on to find out what will happen until the very end.

I’ve always loved Greer Hendricks’ and Sarah Pekkanen’s writing style. Together they are a wonderful powerhouse.

After reading this story, I see loneliness in a whole new light and it makes me want to never make new friends. So, I’m going to warn you to be careful and thoroughly check out the new people in your life, especially if they’re trying to change you!!

If you asked me a couple months ago what 2020 book releases I was most excited about, You Are Not Alone would definitely have been in the top 5.  From the authors of The Wife Between Us and An Anonymous Girl comes a new thriller set to be released on March 3rd.  To say I was stoked to receive an ARC from Netgalley is an understatement. ⁣

This is one of those books that the less you know going in, the better; therefore, I'm not going to give a plot summary. I will, however, say that this book is the very definition of a psychological thriller. From the very first page, I was hooked.  My sense of dread and doom for what was to come increased with every turn of the page.  I found myself berating the main character aloud more than once, much to the humor of my family and, ahem, a few people in a quiet restaurant. 😬😂 Other characters were so fun to hate, which proved to be another element that drew me in.  I don't typically have trouble putting a book down to go to bed at night (I'm half sloth and seriously love my sleep), but this was an exception - I just HAD to see what would happen next. I can't recommend this one enough, you guys.  I'm giving it my first ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating of the year. ⁣

Books written by multiple authors are popular, especially the writing duo of Hendricks and Pekkanen. Their books keep aspiring to new heights. I was fully immersed in this story from the very first sentence. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to find out the next detail. Shay is down on her luck, until she witnesses a horrifying event. She gets sucked into a devious group, taken in by a innocent wanting to belong, which they capitalize on. I was wronging my hands in agony wondering who would prevail. I was in the dark until the final few chapters caused the last missing pieces to snap into place. As I finished the book my one thought was brilliant. No one can mess with a reader's mind like these authors. Now, when's the next one??

I was lucky enough to have an advanced copy of this book to read. This book had me hooked from the first page. Hendricks and Pekkanen know how to keep the readers engaged and wondering what happens next. I found the way the wove the different perspectives and started each of Shays chapter with statistics to be brilliant. I read this book in a day and a half as I could not wait to read what happens next. Just when you think you have it all figured out...things change! This book will have you rooting for the protagonist and wondering if she was truly involved. I would give this 5 out of 5 stars and recommend to anyone who loves a good mystery. I will definitely be recommending this book to my friends and even my students.

Another fun thriller featuring multiple POV's and a crazy cast of characters. Greer and Sarah continue their streak of solid, intelligent mysteries with a few predictable twists and more unpredictable ones, but as per usual you are better off knowing less details before you dive in.

You are Not Alone kept my attention and was a fast read. The title character seems amazingly gullible, but forces you to realize what happens when you're lonely and how easily it is to manipulate people. I liked the twist at the end as I was constantly wondering what the driving force was behind the characters actions and logic. This would make a perfect Lifetime movie.

An overall enjoyable read. I got very frustrated with some of the choices that Shay made throughout the book but I understand that loneliness can make people do unique things to make friends. I know that is why the Moore Sisters worked to capitalize on her. Some of the things they led her to were so subtle. I enjoyed the few unexpected parts of the book as well. I liked the data and facts that were woven throughout the book and it was interesting to see the role it had overall. Another solid book by this psychological thriller author duo!

I really enjoyed the setup and characters in this novel. Although the main character is a tall woman at 5’10”, the author does a phenomenal job of developing her into a mousy, timid woman who feels like she is adrift and invisible. Well-crafted and an enjoyable read.

2020 is off to a great start! I can’t even believe it but Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have done it again! You Are Not Alone is an amazing, bone-chilling psychological thriller. I really found myself being in the mindsets of both Shay and the woman who jumps in front of the subway. I thought I knew what was happening, and I was proven wrong. There are so many moving components to this story that left me bewildered, yet satisfied! I was consumed by this book and will literally read anything that these two women write together! Please give us more.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the arc of this masterpiece. All opinions are my own.

I enjoyed the first two books by these authors but this one was just so-so. Shay witnesses a woman jump to her death in front of a subway train. She then becomes obsessed with the other women's life and winds up meeting her "friends." It took too long getting to the motivation behind these women. Once you figure it out, it just gets a bit ridiculous. I'll probably still read their next book though. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars

My favorite read of 2020 so far! Although, that’s probably no surprise since the authors’ previous two books were some of my absolute favorites.

This book drew me in right from the start. It’s really hard to summarize it without giving too much of the story away. I think that’s also why most of the blurbs online are pretty vague. The story centers around a woman in NYC by the name of Shay who feels completely unnoticed and a little down on her luck. Through a random subway incident, she finds herself drawn into a close circle of friends and she begins to finally feel noticed. However, the group has some pretty big secrets and she has no idea what she has gotten herself into...

What I liked: This was a super easy read! I feel like the authors did a great job of making you sympathize with the main character. Her loneliness was so profound that she was willing to turn herself into someone else in order to be liked and accepted. I think it’s a timely message of how disconnected people can become and how important it is to have truly genuine friends. I also LOVED that it was a thriller with literally no foul language! They can be so hard to find and I am super appreciative of being able to read a well written suspense novel that doesn’t feel the need to incorporate curse words for no apparent reason. The twist at the end was one I didn’t see coming (I’m honestly not sure anyone could see that particular twist due to the way the rest of the book is written). It wasn’t quite as shocking to me as the twist in the middle of The Wife Between Us (that one made me literally gasp and immediately recommend the book to all my friends). But it was still well done.

What I didn’t like: I really don’t have anything I didn’t like. I will say I did figure out part of one of the twists in the middle. I knew what the group was up to before they met Shay. I felt that was a little obvious, but there were still connections that were made later that were not as obvious. The ending was tied up pretty neatly and could have been a little longer in my opinion. But this is one of the only thrillers I’ve read this year where I found the ending satisfying and not disappointing, so it wasn’t that big of a deal overall.

In short, this was another solid thriller by the authors. If I were to rank them, this one would probably be #2 right behind The Wife Between Us. I will definitely continue to read their books, recommend them to others, and anxiously await the next one!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for an ARC of this book!

Twisty murder story with an amazing fast paced plot line. The book had me put things on pause to finish. Definitely a must read of 2020!

I received the book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. I’ve read and enjoyed other books by the authors and was looking forward to reading You Are Not Alone. Shay witnesses a suicide on the New York subway tracks and gets caught up in the life the woman- Amanda- lead. I really enjoyed this fast paced psychological thriller following Shay as she learns more about the Amanda’s life and the twists and turns the plot took. My only criticism would be that at times it felt like there were too many characters and I started to lose track a bit- but it didn’t interfere will my overall enjoyment of the book.

This is such an interesting concept because for majority of the book, you are not sure who to believe or what the actual events of this situation are. I loved the writing, per usual, and I couldn't put it down.

I enjoyed the latest novel from Hendricks and Pekkanen. The twists and turns kept me guessing, though at times they were hard to follow. Keeping my own data book, like Shay, could have proved to be helpful.
Overall a great book though that I give a four star rating!

I have enjoyed these two author's previous co-written books so much that I was excited to get my hands on this one as well.

I enjoyed the nonstop suspense you get chapter after chapter. It doesn't end until the very end of the book when you get the answer to the questions running through your mind.

There are a lot of characters to keep in line while reading. For me, that look away from the storyline a little BUT it also made your mind work twice as hard to figure things out. Well played ladies!

I didn't see the twist coming at the end but as soon as I read it, everything clicked into place.

I enjoyed this one and would recommend it to my fellow readers! I'm ready for the next one already!

I loved Shay as a character. Don’t get me wrong, she’s slightly pathetic, but she’s a women in her early thirties, successful enough but devastatingly single. And she’s gone and done what every girl needs to avoid- she’s fallen in love with her best friend and roommate who has gone and fallen in love with someone else. But Shay is all of us. She’s all our insecurities.
Things are bad enough for her, when on a Sunday morning, while trying to escape the love birds back at her apartment, she witnesses a suicide. A pretty woman in a polka dot dress throws herself in front of a train right before her eyes. Shay is shocked and saddened and curious about this other woman.
As it turns out, this horrible experience has led her to befriend two stylish and amazing sisters, Cassandra and Jane. They are fun, caring, elegant, and they are helping Shay become her best self. Or are they?
This one is an amazing read. The characters are well developed and relatable. The story is at times shocking, but fully also realistic and doesn’t seem outside the realm of things that can happen. I’ve watched Dateline, I know!
I’d recommend You Are Not Alone to just about anyone. It’s Emily Giffin meets Gillian Flynn, there’s a little someone for everyone. Special thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press. You made my day when you approved my request! This one is out March 3, 2020. This review will be published on my blog, Women in Trouble Book Blog on February 4, 2020.

First book of 2020 and one of the most highly anticipated releases thrillers to come out this year! Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen are back with another gripping and suspenseful thriller. I loooved the dynamic between the women in this book. They have found this sweet spot where you don’t quite know what’s going on, but you have an idea, and it keeps you wanting more and more! And that ending had me 😱🤯😲

Thanks to St. Martin’s Press for an advanced copy!!

was excited to get an e-arc thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press.

While this was well written, kept my attention, and was thrilling, it fell short for me.

Shay gets caught up in a conspiracy to be framed by women she thought were her friends. After seeing Amanda commit suicide, Shay goes to her memorial service and becomes bffs with Amanda's friends Cassandra and Jane.

These women are liars, manipulative, and deceitful and Shay has no idea. While all of this was interesting, I have a hard time believing Shay had no clue who these women truly were. She blamed it all on a rash of good luck but never suspected they were behind it all.

Once Shay discovers what they're truly up to, she takes on the role of amateur detective and sets herself free of blame for a crime the sisters committed.

While all my questions were answered I would have liked to see more of a connection and reasoning behind the characters actions. Overall it was an interesting read but I feel like it could have been better.

You Are Not Alone is already one of the most anticipated and talked about books of 2020. I have a feeling that once it hits shelves the talk surrounding it will only intensify. What really drew me into the story were the characters. I was propelled by my need to understand these women and follow their stories. I found them to be mysterious, smart, calculating, and quite honestly…crazy. I also really loved the clips from Shay’s data book that are sprinkled throughout. I felt like that helped me gain a better understanding of how her mind worked and helped me feel like I knew her better. That was so unique and added a creative element to the story.

While I loved the characters I found the plot to be lacking the twists and shock factor that I have come to anticipate and love from Hendricks and Pekkanen. As a reader, I was expecting a few more brain games or a bigger revelation to come from the book since it is a psychological thriller. The central theme of vigilante justice is one that I have recently seen in multiple new 2020 releases and it is already feeling a little repetitive.

Thank you again for the opportunity to read and review You Are Not Alone. I will be posting my review publicly to all of my social media accounts towards the end of February.
