I was so excited to see that these authors were putting out another book - I read An Anonymous Girl all in one night, it was such a page turner. That said, I think I may have like You Are Not Alone even better.

I found the character of Shay to be so compelling and real, she really made the book for me. I liked the juxtaposition of her thoughts with Jane and Cassandra as they saw her actions through their own world view, thinking just of themselves and only superficially of Shay’s point of view. I wish more time had been spent on some of the other characters, but of course it’s hard to juggle how much depth can be added to more minor characters while maintaining mystery.

I don’t want to say too much and spoil anything, so I’ll just end with this - if you’re a fan of psychological thrillers, definitely give this book a try.

You Are Not Alone by authors Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen is yet another awesome novel by the duo authors! I could not pass this opportunity to read their newest book! Probably two of my very favorite authors! This book was packed full of characters, drama and psychological twist! Did not disappoint!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was about a woman that needed a new. beginning. She lost her boyfriend, her old job and was living with a boy “friend” and she needed a change. She needed some close friends that were lacking in her life and was understandably taken in by these “girls” that befriended her after her encounter with their friend that committed suicide in front of her. I empathized with Shay and understood her through the whole book. I think there might have been one too many girls in the group, the plot could have been accomplished without the added characters. I don’t want to spoil it for future readers so I’ll end here. The book was definitely worth reading and I will read this author again in the future. I thank netgalley and Simon and Schuster for the ARC for my honest opinion.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE
BY GREER HENDRICKS AND SARAH PEKKANEN

I read and reviewed their book called, "AN ANONYMOUS GIRL," in 2018 and I loved it because of my interest in psychiatry. I was going to become a psychiatrist in undergraduate school until I discovered in my pre-med biology course that I could not dissect fetal pigs. I felt like I was cutting up our Siberian Huskies four puppies that zi watched their mother give birth and I kept placing her runt of the litter up to the mother so he could feed. We kept all four puppies and grew attached to them so we ended up with seven dogs before having kids. Why am I telling you this? Both me and my lab partner both changed our majors to English because we both couldn't stand cutting up what looked like my puppies. We both knew that we would never be able to cut up a human cadaver in our first year of medical school in Gross anatomy. I am still fascinated with psychology and psychiatry and I received an A in my psychology course that's was designed to weed out all of the students who didn't have a natural affinity and who could not do the work. In another words: the class was designed to make most fail who couldn't do the work further and weren't really interested in it and who most likely couldn't do the work. Most of the class failed but somehow I didn't. I love books that feature abnormal psychological pathologies in their characters sometimes. This book features some pretty disturbing characters but I loved "YOU ARE NOT ALONE," which is a perfect title by the way.

Cassandra and Jane are sisters whom I never trusted from the start. The both exhibited saccharine sweet facades when they tried to befriend Shay. Who was lonely but kind. They acted like they were her friends by giving her glamorous gifts all materialistic things such as an apartment. There was a group of them including the cold and disturbed character Valerie who was relentlessly committed to doing the most harm. Their clique was sick and they all were fake and their motives were not authentic towards Shay? But why was that? Why did they want Shay and what were their plans for her and why?

In the very beginning Shay is on a subway platform and for a split second she gaxes into Amanda's eyes and feels a kinship. Amanda is the girl in the white and green polka dot dress that drops a necklace and Shay picks it up but that will be a very bad choice. Ask yourself why that is? Amanda suddenly appears to have jumped to her death onto the tracks and is run over by the subway train. Shay witnessed Amber fall to her death but was it really a suicide? This event will have alarming consequences for Shay in a profound way that it affects her in a multitude of ways.

Amber and Shay have much in common in this twisted story that leads back to the sachararine fake sisters and their clique but why? For one thing they are the most honest and sympathetic characters and are both likable. But they both get involved with a group of deviant people and I really felt sorry for both of them. The sisters find a way to exploit both of them and the puzzle and the consequences for both of them are what drives this narrative and also ratchets up the suspense. Loved that element of this twisty and turns of a great storyline. I loved the unique premise of this novel and found it to be very clever. It is fascinating how this story goes back and forth in time. As a reader you will bear witness as to why both Amber and Shay have so much more in common than meets the eye. They both serve a purpose for this vile group of women and the more you read the more you find out the motives behind Cassandra and Janee and company and why they have a role to play in this tantalizing book and you will love to hate this deplorable group for the self serving purposes that this evil group feels in both Amber and Shay. They are used for methods which are abnormally pathological and self serving and this group is devoid of a conscious yet on the surface their fake charm is both Amanda and Shay's unravelling.

Shay keeps a book of statistics which I also thought was fabulously executed here in this novel and found them very interesting. She analyzes data for companies and she discloses some eerie statistical information which I loved and enjoyed and I think helps keep this novel fresh and unlike any that I have already read. I was seriously creeped out when Shay gets mixed up in this self serving game perpetuated by Cassandra and Jane. I said to myself while reading that the show is about to start. I said to myself oh no. Don't you see right through them?
As I already mentioned above they all have their self serving motives for befriending Shay and even Amanda. You must read this book all of you fans of thrillers to discover why this clique is so sinister and cruel while appearing altruistic. Why do they inflict their brand of bad and illegal acts on others? The theme is Revenge!!!!!!

I thought that this was well written and I loved the book and will be recommending it to all of my friends and followers who want to read a great thriller. I really enjoyed it and was highly entertained throughout the eighty percent of the book. My critique of this manuscript is that the last twenty percent the sentences weren't flowing as nicely. As Shay is trying to find a connection to this whole arc of the story and while she is ruminating in near exhaustion and on the cusp of delirium it just became too choppy and stilted hence the four stars. This was a disappointing ending to what could have been a masterpiece. Maybe that is the only way to exonerate her was too have this inner monologue. It just didn't work for me. This book is a close tie with these authors other book called, "THE WIFE BETWEEN US." This put "AN ANONYMOUS GIRL," as my favorite thus far. Don't get me wrong the last two were excellent reading experiences that I am grateful to have read. I will recommend all three. There is no denying that these two authors are talented and write captivating and addictive novels.

Wow! Another fantastic book by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen! You Are Not Alone is a fast paced, heart-pounding thriller. Once I began reading, I didn't want to stop.

Shay is in the subway waiting for the next train, she feels unnerved and moves closer to a kind looking woman. That's when she witnesses something that will change her life forever. Before Shay can react, this woman jumps in front of the moving train. Shay cannot believe what she has just witnessed.

Overtaken by grief, she ends up attending the memorial service for the woman. Here she meets two of Amanda's best friends and through a series of events, she becomes friends with them as well. She is so taken by this friendship that she doesn't realize the little signs of alarm. Shay quickly finds herself immersed in a new life, not realizing the dangers that awaits her.

This book was intense at points and I was even silently willing the character to do something different, or to pick up on the strangeness of everything! Such a great book!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this ARC.

"You Are Not Alone" is another excellent thriller from the wonderful writing team of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. I always enjoy books by these two ladies, but had a hard time finding the motivations of these characters to behave the way they did. There were very dramatic, suspenseful moments in this novel, but it didn't grip me as much as I had hoped. Overall, it is an excellent novel with some dramatic moments.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

This is the third psychological thriller from Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen, and it's my opinion that it was just not as good as the first two. That's not to say it wasn't good (hello, 4 stars); just not AS good. The big reveal didn't feel all that big, and the ending felt a bit rushed. However, it's a very enjoyable read and 100% worth your time.

Shay Miller witnesses a young woman, about her age, commit suicide by jumping in front of an oncoming subway train. From there she meets sisters Cassandra & Jane Moore, and her life pretty much immediately spirals out of control. Unfortunately there's not much more I can say re: the plot without ruining the reader's experience, so here are some fairly vague observations/opinions:

- If you've read this author duo's previous two titles, then you're familiar with their writing style, and you'll be happy to know that this style continues in You Are Not Alone. I appreciate that they have a particular style that they stick with.

- I felt like it took far too long for Shay to realize what was happening to her. It also took far too long for any motives to be revealed.

- The cast of women is intriguing. Except for Jody. Jody's a bitch.

- Sean, the lone male character, is a complete non-committal, whiny afterthought. It's possible that's how the authors wanted him to come across. Mission accomplished.

You are not alone: Is it a promise, or a threat?

I can't pass up a book by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. This book did not disappoint!

Have you ever wanted to fit in with a group of people so much that you would do almost anything? That is exactly what Shay has done. However, when she realizes that she doesn't really want in this group - it's too late. I hated to put this book down and then couldn't wait to pick it up again. Thanks the authors, publisher, and Netgalley for the advance copy of this book in return for my honest opinion.

Shay has just been downsized, her cute male roommate is dating another woman, and Shay feels cut off from her other friends. So when she witnesses another woman jumping in front of a subway train, it seems like her luck has just gotten worse. Instead, Shay is introduced to the woman's very sophisticated, very generous friends, Jane and Cassandra. Maybe things are finally turning around for Shay!

But this is a thriller written by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, so of course it isn't. Like their other book, An Anonymous Girl, this book is hard to put down as we weave between chapters from the perspectives of Shay and the sisters. The twist at the end is a good one, I definitely didn't see it coming! Overall, this is a great first thriller to start out the new year!

Love these authors and have loved all of their books so far! It's so unique to have a duo of authors, but they really make it work. This is a great thriller to pass a cold winter night.

It seems as if everything is crumbling apart for Shay after witnessing a tragic suicide in a NYC subway tunnel. As if by fate, she meets the Moore sisters. Their mystical presence turns Shay's life around when they take her under their wings, perhaps a little too closely.

You Are Not Alone grabbed my attention from the start and never let go. I have read Greer Hendricks' and Sarah Pekkanen's previous books. I really enjoy their writing style where the chapters change perspective between characters. I know that with these authors there's always a few big twists at the end that you don't expect. I love to try and piece all the clues to the puzzle beforehand. Another novel that didn't disappoint!

Shay Miller is unhappy with her life, her job -- everything. She wants to belong, to feel less like an outsider.

When she witnesses a young woman throw herself under a subway train, she is beyond shocked. She needs to know why she would do something that drastic. She attends a memorial service created by the girl's friends, and they welcome her with open arms. Soon she finds herself being cosseted by glamorous sisters, and moving in to the dead woman's apartment.

But things are not what they seem, and Shay may soon find that the price of friendship is way too high.

This is a riveting psychological thriller, destined to be talked about all year. Highly recommended.

You Are Not Alone by Greer Hendricks is a captivating thriller which had me guessing almost throughout the entire novel. Shay heads to the subway and feels she has a connection to a young woman who then throws herself in front of a subway train. Distraught, she goes to a memorial service for Amanda, the young woman and connect with Amanda's friends, Cassandra and Jane. Desperate for friends as her life is spiraling out of control, Shay latches onto these two sisters and finds that they are just the friends that she always wished she had. But...there's a reason they say, "Be careful what you wish for!"

Thank you to the authors, St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for and ARC of this enthralling novel in exchange for my honest opinion.

I wish I had much to say about this, but I don't. I'm sure this will satisfy a lot of people as an entertaining thriller. Unfortunately, I didn't feel the plot was compelling and thought that Shay was sort of a weak, boring character. Usually thrillers have me desperate for answers, even if they're lacking otherwise, but I didn't have that experience here. It was readable enough for me to finish, but I think the biggest issue is that I didn't feel a sense of urgency; I felt sure Shay would get out of this mess and instead of worrying for her, I just waited to see what would happen. The only piece I really liked was the running theme of statistics. Shay is a big and I loved the data book she kept. Clearly I'm in the minority on this though, and it is great that the somewhat large cast is almost entirely female.

This is a hard one because I enjoyed reading this book, it’s very engaging and readable but I was a little let down. I did enjoy the writing just like I enjoyed the writing in The Wife Between Us, but this one didn’t hold up for me quite as well as that one did. I feel like some of the MC’s actions were weird and obviously only made for the plot progression. I had a couple other issues but I’m not going to spoil anything here. Overall I did enjoy my time reading this one and will definitely read the next one they put out.

You Are Not Alone is the third collaboration between Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. Shay is an anxious New Yorker who is working as a temp after losing her full-time job. She is obsessed with data and deals with her anxiety by grounding herself in numbers and logic. She's harboring feelings for her sweet roommate (who has a girlfriend), and her best friend is in a different stage of life (married with a baby)—leaving Shay lonely. When she witnesses a suicide in the subway, Shay becomes fascinated by (the dead woman) Amanda's life and the friends she left behind. Cassandra and Jane, two sisters who run a high-powered PR firm, notice Shay and take her under their wing. Cassandra and Jane have a tight-knit crew of friends—a group that once included Amanda, made up of smart, talented, and stylish women, exactly the kind of women Shay wants to befriend and emulate. The story that follows is told from several perspectives—Shay's, Amanda's, Cassandra and Jane's, and those of the other women in the group. It took me a few chapters to adjust to the writing style, but once I did, this was a great read. Chapters told from Cassandra and Jane's perspective (third person) feel stilted and distant, almost clinical. Although the style of these sections made it somewhat difficult to get into the story, it's a choice that makes sense as the story progresses, and it contributes to the novel's eerie tone. If you loved The Wife Between Us but An Anonymous Girl didn't quite hit the mark for you, there's a good chance the characters and twists in You Are Not Alone will have you just as compelled and disoriented as the duo's first novel.

Excellent book!! I’m loving this author (this being the 3rd book I’ve read by her/them). The characters were developed so that you actually felt like you were with the girls.
The only issues I came across were several typos towards the end but otherwise, I found The book very entertaining and hard to put down!

I had trouble getting into this book. There were a lot of characters to keep track of and I didn’t really connect with any of them. For me it was only a page turner because I was curious about what was going to happen. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Okay, so it took me a little while longer to read this than I anticipated. Not because I didn’t like it, I did, it was just a lot of information but some of it could have been left out.

By the end, I didn’t find myself caring about any of the characters or what happened to them and at that point I realized this book probably wasn’t going to do it for me.

It *is* a good page turner, if you liked the author’s previous work or maybe if you’ve never read their other books at all. Maybe that’s why I’m having trouble with it because I keep comparing it to those books and it’s just not up to par.

If you’re new to these two writers, skip the reviews and the blurb and just jump straight to the story without any preconceived thoughts about any of it and you’ll probably enjoy it.

-Not everything is as it seems.
-Or rather not everyone
-There are a lot of characters to keep track of, so get your mind ready.
-The statistic/data notes that the main character keeps is quite interesting. Maybe my favorite thing about the whole book.

Not sure about this one. I may come back to it later with more thoughts.

Having read and loved "The Wife Between Us" and "An Anonymous Girl" I was excited to be picked for an advanced copy of You Are Not Alone. This was another great book!
