“You Are Not Alone” is the third collaboration between Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, and this novel lives up to all of the hype of it being one of the best psychological thrillers for this year (decade?).

Shay Miller has turned her passion for numbers and statistics into a career. But between jobs, with a best friend busy with a new baby, and living with a guy who she wishes could be something more, she is feeling at a loss. While working as a temp, she searches for a new gig while trying to avoid hanging out at the apartment whenever her roommate/crush is getting closer to his girlfriend. Waiting for the subway one morning, a young woman in a green polka dotted dress catches her eye. Before realizing what is about to happen, Shay witnesses the woman, Amanda, jump in front of an approaching train. Traumatized, Shay becomes obsessed with Amanda, who she was, and what led her to make this tragic choice.

Shay comprehends this loss by gathering statistics about this woman and as she does, her path crosses with Cassandra and Jane, gorgeous sisters who may have a connection to Amanda. Cassandra and Jane lead a group of women who are strong and assertive, characteristics Shay would like to embody.

In Shay's obsessive search for more information (data!) about this woman, she comes into contact with this Cassandra and Jane’s group. Shay would love to have friends like these women and after Cassandra and Jane meet and embrace Shay, for the first time she feels like she could belong. Good things start happening for Shay, and Shay begins feeling confident and strong with their embrace of friendship.

If you are expecting thing to work well for Shay long term, then you have never read a Hendricks/Pekkanen novel. Without resorting to predictability, Shay’s relationship with Cassandra and Jane send the reader on a turbulent journey; just when you expect the novel to resolve itself, the authors plan a few final twists.

I'd like to thank NetGalley for providing me an advanced copy for my unbiased review. "You Are Not Alone " is expected to be published by St. Martin’s Press on March 3, 2020.

I may have pumped and screamed when I was able to read this early. I have loved both of the previous books by Hendricks and Pekkanen, and I really wanted to know, could they do it again? The answer is yes, of course they can.

Having read their previous books, I knew that I shouldn't be as silly to believe it was as easy as what I was reading. I was ever watching for the elusive spoiler, and they did not disappoint with the twists and turns. In fact, they were so great that it's hard to review this book without giving anything away. Let's just suffice it to say you need to read this book, and go into it with as little as possible. You won't regret it.

A big thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved The Wife Between Us, so I was thrilled to get this ARC and not have to wait until March to read!

Saving my review until pub date! If you liked The Wife Between Us (obviously), Dear Sister, anything Riley Sager - this book is for you.

Shay’s life is slowly starting to fall apart when she sees Amanda throw herself in front of a moving subway train. She didn’t know Amanda, but suddenly she feels beyond connected to the woman she shared eye contact with as she died. After heading to the memorial for Amanda, Shay meets Charlotte and Jane, two good friends of Amanda’s. Charlotte and Jane quickly bring Shay into their lives, and all the sudden Shay’s life is making a turn for the better. Nothing could go wrong right?

I really loved this book. I had a hard time figuring out what was happening which is getting harder these days for me with thrillers. This dynamic duo certainly know how to write a kick butt thriller, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next! My heart went out to Shay and I just wanted things to all work out, but I knew there was something sketchy happening! You will not regret picking this one up come March!

I read this in a sitting, ignoring all other personal obligations. Fantastic characters, fast-paced plot, and an ending that will have you cheering. Great for older teens, as well as adults!

These women write the most incredible, detailed, unusual stories! In this latest, Hendricks and Pekkanen have once again provided a glimpse behind the dark curtain of female "friendship" and offered up a thriller that is complex, populated by fabulously detailed characters full of charming menace - even (especially?) when they're at their most charming and least menacing... The authors have an uncanny knack for dissecting the insecurities that so many of us embody and finding a way to play with those fears and self-doubts until the reader doesn't know which end is up. It makes for delightful reads that travel a serpentine path toward resolution. There were a couple of twists I did not see coming - which always happens in their books - and the things I did see were still played out so subtly and well that I didn't mind congratulating myself for noticing them. If you like your thriller-mysteries intricate and thoughtful, a great place to start is with a Hendricks/Pekkanen!

The two authors of You Are Not Alone have written another great book. I like their style and ability to juggle characters and timelines that gives the reader more information without revealing what is to come. They are adept at describing the motivation behind the actions that gives a richness to the characters. The story held my interest from beginning to end.

I received an Advanced Reader's Copy from St Martin's Press. The opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Shay's life in New York City is not going well and when she witnesses a suicide in a subway station she wants to learn more about the woman because she worries that it could have been her. What she finds is more than she ever imagined, the woman's glamorous friends befriend her and Shay's life starts to turn around. But is it too good to be true? Are they really her friends or is there something else going on? A twisty story that kept me reading.

Such an interesting story. From the beginning until about 80% (maybe sooner)...I had no idea where this story was going. I enjoyed the characters and their relationships. I felt the main character was frustrating in the decisions she made...while her behavior can be partly understood because of the horrific experience of seeing someone kill themselves right in front of you...but her actions and decisions got to be a little much. But overall I was definitely engaged in the story.

This was an okay read. But only okay. I had a difficult time getting into the main plot of this book. The storyline was not a good flow for me. The characters uninteresting and the mystery sparse.

I am struggling to get through this book. I am not fully engaged and I am already on page 100. I am going to take a DNF on this one...everyone loves her books but I have yet to be wowed by this author. Perhaps I will find the will to finish and update this review. Until then, thank you net galley for the ARC anyways!

I loved this one! Thank you for approving me to read it.

Three reasons you should read this book:
1. Full of revenge. For anyone who crosses in the wrong path.
2. Twisted trio of sisters.
3. It will make you shocked. It will make you stay awake and want to read to know what the hell happens.

This is the third book that I have read by the author duo of Hendricks/Pekkanen. All of their books are thrillers, but "You Are Not Alone" has become of my favorite. All I can say is that I had an extremely difficult time putting the book down. It kept me on the edge of my seat. Five stars all the way. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

After witnessing a horrible incident, Shay begins to look at her own life. She’s sharing an apartment with a male roommate that’s beginning a serious relationship with someone else, she doesn’t have a steady job, no real friends and no love life. After the fabulous Moore sisters take her under their wing, Shay thinks her life is about to change for the better. But what comes next is beyond anything she could imagine. A must read thriller!

Top notch book! I loved the suspense and all the different aspects of the characters. They were all well written and relatable. As I was reading I knew something was 'up' and continued to make a variety of guesses. There are SO many ways I could spoil the book, so my review will be short! Major twists and turns that you do not see coming and some that you will!

Not many books surprise me, but this one definitely did. I feel that the characters were well developed and I could understand their backgrounds. I greatly enjoyed this book and it kept me guessing.

I spent most of this book trying to figure out what the heck was going on in it. This kept me intrigued but I'm not sure it was all worth it. I wanted to know what was going on but I'm not sure I ever really figured it out. I think the book had an overall good premise but I'm not sure it came fully to fruition. Something about it has left me unsatisfied by the story overall.

This is one of those unputdownable (I made up a new word) books that will have you biting your nails right up until the end. Shay is such a sympathetic character that you will find yourself rooting for her from the very beginning. It also has a twist that was so perfect. I can't say too much because I don't want to give anything away but you have to read this one. This pair has never let me down and the streak is still going.

Thanks to St. Martin's Press for an advance copy of this book.

I will always always be the first in line to read these authors. I loved The Wife Between Us and An Anonymous Girl, so when I saw You are Not Alone was coming out, I had to have it! You are Not Alone kept me hooked and interested from the first chapter to the last.

Shay Miller is the protagonist of the book who witnesses a stranger's suicide at the subway station. She half-attempted to stop the jumper, but she was unsuccessful. The only thing left of the crushed young woman is a necklace which Shay absentmindedly puts into her pocket. That necklace will lead Shay into a very dangerous and unexpected world of women and secrets. These women become the friends she's always wanted and she feels they are her comfort and salvation and pathway to a new and beautiful world. I will not spoil whether or not Shay is correct, but I will say that I felt a great deal of empathy for Shay. I think everyone has insecurities and longs to be accepted and part of a group. I felt Shay ignored some obvious red flags in the name of acceptance.

I have enjoyed all of their books, but I enjoyed this one the most. I recommend it and enjoyed it very much!
