You Are Not Alone is another great suspense thriller by the authors Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. If you liked The Wife Between Us and An Anonymous Girl, then you are sure to enjoy reading this. It’s a story of lies and deception, murder and revenge. Although I felt it started off a little slow, once I got into it, I couldn’t put it down. I actually think this is probably my favorite of all of their books. I feel these authors must have really vivid imaginations to come up with such great, original storylines. One aspect that I appreciate about their writing is the short chapters that are told from the different characters points of view. It seems to make things move along at a faster pace. I’d like to thank NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the e-arc to read and review. It was an entertaining story and one I recommend to other readers of this genre. All opinions stated here are my own. I rate this at 4 stars.

Not a bad story. A witness to a suicide suddenly finds herself unable to go back to the train station. She also finds herself being sought out and accepted into a friendship of sorts with the friends of the woman who died. She feels strongly attached to the woman and the life she led before deciding to end it all. Renting her old apartment, tracking down her mother, etc. are how she keeps busy while looking for a job.
I was interested in how it all tied together, but at about the 3/4 mark, I found recaps of what had happened, who said what, to be unnecessary and annoying. It also happened in almost every chapter. I did enjoy the writing and the story line until that started making me think that pay was something earned per word. I also thought the research she put into finding James/Trey's story was a bit out of line!
Overall, a good story, maybe a 3.8 stars Thank you NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review

Shay Miller's life is about to get worse, much worse. She has lost her job, and her roommate's new girlfriend wants her gone. Not exactly the life she planned and she is struggling to get back on track. One morning, as Shay waits for the subway, she witnesses a suicide, and it hits her like a ton of bricks. Obsessing over the victim, Amanda Evinger, and wondering what she could have done to prevent this tragedy, she attends a memorial service to learn more about Amanda. She meets Amanda's close friends, Cassandra and Jane, and she just can't believe that anyone who had friends like this would take her own life.
To Shay, these women have it all. Looks, money, style, and high powered careers, and she cannot help wishing that these were her friends. But Cassandra and Jane have an agenda, and it might not involve making Shay their new best friend. Chapters alternate between Shay and Cassandra and Jane. Every chapter provides another little piece of the puzzle, but the authors are clever, and those pieces didn't come together as I imagined.
A fast-paced story with a New York city backdrop that kept me guessing until the end. I may have stayed up late to finish, but I just couldn't wait to uncover all the secrets and lies.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll get sucked into this plot just like Cassandra and Jane sucked Shay into their world. Unfortunately, I was waiting for the “Oh my gosh!” moment that The Wife Between Us had, and it never came. Even when we find out the truth about each of the characters, my reaction wasn’t near the surprise I had with TWBU. It’s a good read, but nowhere near the thriller I was expecting.

Shay Miller is a lonely, unemployed introvert who spends her days pining after her best friend and platonic roommate, Sean. When she witnesses a woman commit suicide on the subway platform, she mysteriously ends up falling into that woman’s female friend circle, in particular with sisters Jane and Cassandra Moore. The women slowly bring Shay out of her shell, building her self-esteem/confidence while also helping her find a new job and apartment. Unbeknownst to Shay though, this friend group is actually a female vigilante group brought together while plotting elaborate #metoo revenge fantasies on the men who have previously wronged them. Believing Shay has ulterior motives and questioning her involvement in their friend’s suicide, the women aren’t really helping Shay, but rather setting her up as their next “target”.
THOUGHTS: this is YOU with a great #metoo era twist. The book is sharply-written and well-plotted, with at least 5 interesting and flawed female characters. Everyone’s motives are questioned and nothing is quite what it seems. The story is suspenseful and relevant and explores themes such as authenticity, female friendship, and sexism.

Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, the queens of the psychological suspense thriller, are back with ‘You Are Not Alone,’ which is an intricately plotted novel with surprises aplenty.
Shay Miller feels like she is all alone. Her roommate (and secret crush) has a new girlfriend, she gets laid off from her job, and she is witness to a horrible suicide while waiting for the subway. When she encounters the glamorous sisters, Cassandra and Jane Moore, it seems like her life might finally be back on track. Or has it just become even more derailed?
As one who tends to figure out plot twists way too early in a narrative, I was pleasantly surprised that I did not anticipate all of the surprises in this particular story. I thought that the narrative style (Shay’s chapters are in first person, and the other highlighted characters are in close third person) was particularly effective in slowly ratcheting the suspense of the story as it progressed.
There are many interesting female characters in the story, and while I felt some of them (and their motivations) came across as a little too rote or stereotypical for my taste, I found the core characters of the story to be fascinating.
If you’re already a Hendricks/Pekkanen fan, this novel won’t disappoint. And if you’re new to this writing duo and read this book, you just might find yourself picking up their other two novels, just for good measure.
**Thank you, NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.**

WOW!! Greer Hendricks has done it again with You Are Not Alone! I was glued to the book from start to finish. Shay innocently witnesses something horrible, and the events that follow make her life both wonderful and unbearable. This is a contemporary mystery that I can easily see being made into a movie. I would have given it five stars, but there were a few occasions that I needed to reread events in order to be comfortable with all the characters. Highly recommend!

This book was filled with twists. I really like this writim3g duo. Can't wait to see what they come out with next!

This is my third read from this great duo, and this one did not disappoint. I feel this is a solid 4 stars for the writing, characters and all around "what is going to happen"!
The reason its not 5 stars? I felt the ending became very rushed, where I felt "That's it"?!?
I still believe this is worth the read, and look forward to what they have in store for us next!

This book was weird and honestly wasn't my favorite. It is annoying when I as the reader know what's going on and I'm reading along as the MC is running around scrambling trying to figure it out.

Another great read by this stellar combo of authors! Twisty, dark and always surprising, I truly did not know where this book would go or end. Definitely recommend if you enjoy psychological thrillers.
Thank you to netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

When I saw that this couple had another book out, I had to have it! Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen are magic when they write together! I often marvel that with the millions of novels that have been written, unique plots are still to be found. And this was one of those.
I think it's best enjoyed without a synopsis of the story, so I'm just urging you to read it and find out for yourself.

This book is filled with twists and turns. I never knew what was going on until the very end. I enjoyed the dynamics of the “friendships” and how the main character stayed on her toes and NEVER admitted defeat. This is one of the best suspense books I have read this year.

Having read The Wife Between Us and The Anonymous Girl, I was really interested in reading You Are Not Alone. The synopsis did not reveal much, but it was enough to let me know that the story would be good. Shay seems like each of us...the insecure woman who doesn't quite know how to fit in with others.... Authors Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pakkanen seamlessly dive into the world that the beautiful sisters, Cassandra and Jane live in. Once this world seemed so far away, but now that she has a taste, Shay wants to live in it permanently. Little does she know the sacrifices she may have to make to get the life and love she wants.
Instead of circling around the themes of friendship, You Are Not Alone dives deeper into why we have friendships and how far will one go for that loyalty and love? Along with the themes is a plot that seems to be steady and then the reader realizes there is so much more to the story. Unraveling the secrets one layer at a time takes patience and a dedication to read all the way to the end. Very enjoyable read, one of my favorites this year!
Trigger Warning: PTSD and Suicide is dealt with as Shay witnesses a suicide and deals with the aftermath.
Thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and authors Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pakkanen for the advance digital reader copy for me to read and enjoy. As always, my opinion is my own.

Greer and Sarah have done it yet again! It was an intense, fast paced psychological thriller and I loved every part.
This is easily the best book I've read all year.

You Are Not Alone was by far not the best effort produced by the writing duo whose works enthralled me with their story and stunned me with their cleverness. Shay was a touch too Snow White to the Moore Sister's Evil Queen. Characters felt flat and the story uninspired and the whole thing smacked of a 1990's Lifetime drama. The Wife Between Us and The Anonymous Girl are far superior efforts.

This is the kind of book that had I had the time, I'd be able to finish in a single sitting. I don't have that kind of time, however, so I settled on finishing this one in a little over 36 hours, with working a 9 hour day in the midst of.
I can only imagine the plot maps these authors must have used when writing this book. The book itself seems like a pretty straightforward thriller. Until it isn't. I was genuinely surprised by this book. I read a lot of books of this nature and have never encountered another quite like this.
If you like psychological thrillers (and I definitely do), run out and get this when it publishes in March. You won't be disappointed.

I was very hesitant at first about this book. I loved "The Wife Between Us" but "Anonymous Girl" was just not what I was expecting, so I was really unsure going into reading this book. It surprised me though and was actually really good. There are parts you would have never seen coming, especially the twist at the end!

Something comes over me when I start a new book by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen. I feel like I'm in a trance, and all I can do is read, read, read -- I become obsessed with finding out what'll happen next!
"You Are Not Alone" is the third book by this duo, and it was another super-suspenseful read with great characters and a vibrant New York City backdrop. The action begins when a young woman named Shay witnesses a suicide on a subway platform. The horrifying event causes her to develop a phobia of taking the subway. However, at her lowest, loneliest moment, Shay meets a pair of glamorous sisters, who begin to coax her out of her shell. Unbeknownst to Shay, the sisters have a sinister secret...
I don't want to give too much away, because this is the sort of book that gradually reveals more of its secrets with every chapter. As a fan of Hendricks' and Pekkanen's two previous novels, I was pleased to find that they're in top form with this page-turning psychological thriller.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press for the review copy.

I was so excited to receive this book because I very much enjoyed An Anonymous Girl and liked The Wife Between Us (though I was less enthusiastic about it). But I was hugely disappointed by You Are Not Alone. Much of the story felt like there were pieces missing, like we were dropped into the middle of a story already in progress. Little about the Moore sisters is explained, and the mystery aspects fell flat because of it. They're cardboard cutouts, so it's hard to fear them or feel for them.
