I was so excited to receive this book because I very much enjoyed An Anonymous Girl and liked The Wife Between Us (though I was less enthusiastic about it). But I was hugely disappointed by You Are Not Alone. Much of the story felt like there were pieces missing, like we were dropped into the middle of a story already in progress. Little about the Moore sisters is explained, and the mystery aspects fell flat because of it. They're cardboard cutouts, so it's hard to fear them or feel for them.

love, love loved this book!!!! Could not wait to get back home to finish this story! Absolutely awesome! This story will give anyone who reads it to be a little bit more cautious of who they invite into their life.

An Anonymous Girl by these authors is one of my books that I've recently read so when I saw You are Not Alone, I jumped on it quickly and read it from start to finish even more quickly! You are Not Alone is a slow burning suspense filled thriller that kept me enthralled from the very first chapter to the last.
Shay, our main character, witnesses a brutal suicide at the subway station. She tried to stop the young woman from jumping in front of the train but was unsuccessful. The only thing left of the crushed young woman is a necklace which Shay absentmindedly puts into her pocket. That necklace will lead Shay into a world of women that is, at best, inexplicable. Have they become her salvation and pathway to a new and beautiful world OR will these women lead her to jump in front of the subway herself? Written with such artful nuance, the reader will remain unsure until the very end.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It doesn't publish until 2020, but it is one to add to your TBR list now. It's a fascinating read that you will not want to miss.

NO SPOILERS....(rather, thoughts, feelings, tidbits and teasers)
“An orbit is a regular, repeating path that one object in space takes another one”. [this quote is not from this book...but it relates]...
This is the 3rd psychological thriller I’ve read by the power-team co-authors: Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen.
Greer and Sarah have matching T-shirts that say....”Better Together”. ( cute)...
Their philosophy about ‘togetherness-power’, in You Are Not Alone”, comes through loud and clear....yet along the same thoughts of food combining: some combinations make for a delicious satisfying meal; if too many ingredients are added, it can be havoc on our digestive systems.
The writing succeeded at keeping me suspense-fully engaged to the end...but there ‘were’ unnecessary ingredients. Some scenes were a stretch to seem remotely possible. And a few characters were presented like a garnish....( a little parsley on the side).
I read much of this book like a gatherer. Instead of racing through it - ( yet, I read at a steady stream) - I was aware of gathering my marbles....polishing them....arranging them....separating them...and playing with them. Lots of names and details I wanted to keep straight. It wasn’t hard to do ( credit to the power-authors)...but just in case....haha....I was covering my tracks and being careful not to forget anything. I wanted to figure out the ending before I got to it. I didn’t. ( credit the authors again).
There are a lot of characters in this book. I didn’t want to miss one iota of a clue....or forget one name.
I involved myself with the authors game as much as possible. There are many puzzle pieces to put together. Some pieces went together faster then others. Blindsiding storytelling aspects are stronger than the plot. Which was fine with me once I realized the name of the game....”You Are Not Alone”....
And....I’m ALWAYS HAPPY that the Greer/Sarah ladies never exploit graphic violence in their novels.
I had a clue about the ‘woman’s group’ and their purpose together early on ... but I was still missing pieces. The ending added an interesting element - but when I looked at the ‘entire’ book....not every loose end was tied perfectly together.
Flaws and all....I’m glad I read it. I don’t think it’s the authors strongest of their three books... but its definitely engaging. 4- 4.5 rating - a little less than 5 stars ( as their past two books were).
Yet...my thoughts are still growing.
I’m left thinking about consequences to consequential and inconsequential actions.
Also at times... it felt like ants were crawling all over my skin....
A friend sent me a “what ya doing”, text right in the middle of my trying to tie strings together in this story: ... during a part I felt was CUCKOO CRAZY...( coincidences galore & gullible silliness)....
I said...”go away”....I’m busy rolling my eyes - and walking on nails.
My friend wouldn’t go away until I shared some juicy details. I realized it was fun discussing the shenanigans — so our early discussion became part of my reading enjoyment.
At first glance it looks like the powerful Moore sisters: Casandra and Jane - ( 2 years apart in age - in their 30’s), have built their life around their selected friends....preserving and demanding sacredness and loyalty.
“I get a good vibe from Amanda, Valerie had said to the rest of the women—Casandra, Jane, Beth, Stacey, and Daphne— during their next meeting. You’ve all spent a little time with her by now. I think she’s one of us”.
ONE OF WHAT?????.....I WONDERED.
The girls took a vote by raising their hands. It was unanimous but the vote didn’t mean Amanda would be invited in the group. It merely meant that the six women had decided to test her.
TEST WHAT??? WHAT TYPE OF GROUP WAS THIS?
A little about the character *Shay*:
Shay had a great friendship with her ‘guy-apartment-mate’: Sean. But once Sean became a serious couple with Jody...Shay felt like a third wheel to ‘Sean & Jody’s’ cuddling on the couch, cooking together, and their giggly ‘togetherness’.
Shay was a statistician type girl. She kept a data notebook....on thought-provoking probabilities.
Examples of her data book entries:
....”I once read a horrifying statistic that I’ve never been able to get out of my mind: cutting boards contain 200 percent more fecal bacteria than a toilet seat”.
....”Forty-three percent of American’s feel isolated...”
....”In a study of people who had witnessed suicide...”
....”If you’re going to tell a premeditated lie, here’s how to do it...”
....”About one-third of all injuries occur at home, and one of the most dangerous areas is the kitchen...”
....”Nurses have access to fentanyl, OxyContin, Valium, Percocet, Vicodin...”
....etc....
We know a lot about Shay right away... Her temp job. Her insecurities...her financial concerns...her desire to belong, connect, to have good friends, her loneliness, her values and routines....and the repercussions from witnessing a tragic symbolic-hornet’s nest.
“I’ve felt many things in the city I’ve lived in for nearly a decade: (NYC)...hopeful, despondent, joyful, irritated, and deeply lonely.
But I’ve never felt the gut-wrenching primal sense of fear I experienced just now when I......” 😉... no spoilers, remember?
You’ll meet many characters... and learn their back stories:
Cassandra, Jane, Valerie, Amanda, Beth, Daphne, Stacey, Kit, Sean, Jodi, James, Oliver, Detective Santiago, Detective Williams, etc.
Other tidbits:
Enjoy Moscow Mules, Bakery Sweets, Banana smoothies, secrets, lies, conniving schemes, a little absurdity, a pok-a-dot- dress, a sunshine necklace, a memorial service, DATAGIRL, land mines, smooth shiny hair, stilettos, motherhood, a frying pan memory, ....and the mystery of a women’s tight nit group.
In “You Are Not Alone”, characters find ways to navigate a road they never tended to travel...but sometimes a girl needs to do what a girl needs to do!
Complicated...twisty...messy......enjoyable!
Thank You St. Martin’s Press, Netgalley, and Sarah Pekkhanen, and Greer Hendricks

Greer and Sarah have done it again. This book will suck you in immediately.
Shay witnesses a horrible accident and is quite traumatized. The story is told in alternate aspects by the main characters. I love when authors do this. The book just flows together. As in their other books, there is no way to figure out where it is going.
Thank you St. Martins for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

This book is at the top of my favourite books of 2019. Excellent story. Gripped me at the start and didn't let go. So many twists and turns. I was rooting for Shay but was a bit afraid for her, Cassandra, Jane and Valerie are evil. Thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and the Authors for allowing me to read and review this amazing book.

This the third book I have read by these authors. They keep getting better! I like a book that uses different characters voices. This one had many. It took a little getting used to, but I got into the flow. I thought I had some parts figured out but the way it all came together was so satisfying. I missed the relationships. I didn't expect what Shay would finally do. I stayed up until four o'clock in the morning to finish it! Great book! Ladies I await your next one.

Another page turner! Finished this book in one day, I couldn’t put it down!! Death by suicide, or by purpose...keeps you guessing until the very end. Gripping and captivating.

I really enjoyed this book!! It was a little slow in places but the writing was amazing, and I loved how the characters grew.

For the third time and this duo is still charming me with their stellar work. After Shay witnesses a suicide in the tube, she becomes obsessed with the victim. She wants to know what made Amanda jump in front of a train. The event catapults her from an already unstable life into the paths of the Moore sisters, and thus begins their twisted relationship. Not all is what it seems. Saying more will detract from the experience of the novel. This one is as good as The Anonymous Girl and The Wife Between Us.
Thank you to Netgalley and publisher for the ARC.

Let me start by saying that this is easily the best book I've read all year. No exaggeration. And I've read A LOT of books this year.
When I first heard the news that there was a new book out by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, my reaction was "Yes, please! Sign me up!" I didn't even have to read the blurb to know I wanted to start reading this one NOW. And I was hooked immediately.
The point of view switches back and forth from lonely Shay Miller to the fabulous Moore sisters, with chapters from other women interspersed throughout to keep the story rolling. This book kept me on my toes from page one and I couldn't bear to put it down. Every time you start to think you know what's going on, the next chapter opens another door and realize you haven't got it quite right after all. You are kept guessing all the way to the end and each chapter keeps you hungry for more. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for the next "I can't put this down!" book to curl up with. I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Shay loves data and numbers. She keeps a Data book with percentages and statistics. This might sound dry to you, but what happens to Shay makes you gasp and your heart beat faster.
One evening, Shay witnesses a strange woman commit suicide on the subway platform. She then becomes obsessed with the woman. What's her name? Amanda. Where did she come from? Shay goes to Amanda's memorial service.
Shay isn't the only one with an obsession. Two sisters who were Amanda's friends befriend Shay. They are even more obsessed with her.
I thoroughly enjoy Hendricks and Pekkanen's books, and was delighted when I received an email offer to download this from Netgalley. I thank the publishers for two wonderful days of reading.

Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Shay witnesses a woman commit suicide on the subway platform in NYC and it has a lasting impact on her. She is living with a friend that she is secretly in love with and working at a temp job. She doesn’t have much going for her but things seem to start looking up when she is befriended by 2 sisters following the suicide.
I loved the first two novels from these authors, so when I realized this ARC was available, I constantly searched Netgalley hoping to request it. Then I got an email from the publisher with a link to download the book and it was like early Xmas. This was a quick read. I kept turning the pages, reading it in a day and a half, because I had no idea what was actually going on and I really wanted to know. I don’t think this one was quite as good as the two previous novels. I felt like there were a few loose ends that I have questions about, but it was still a really good read and I look forward to their next novel.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for the opportunity to read and review YOU ARE NOT ALONE by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. I received a free copy in exchange for my honest review.
Five stars and here’s why:
LOVED IT! I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to read THE WIFE BETWEEN US and AN ANONYMOUS GIRL and true to fashion, these two authors don’t disappoint with their third collaboration. Holy moly what a rollercoaster ride that kept me guessing at every page turn. Total book hangover. Highly recommend.

You are not alone fell a little flat for me. It is a page turner but I wasn’t overwhelmed with the ending. The big reveal and twists were okay but nothing to call home about. I can’t really describe much more without giving away the plot but I think it was still worth the read.
I was really irritated with the way Shay was so trusting and so nosy when it came to Amanda and the sisters. While there may be women out there like her, I just wish she wasn’t so naive about what was happening to her and allowed these women to befriend her in the way that they did.
The ending wrapped up too clean for me and there wasn’t a real connection to Daphne and James that was set up in the beginning (yes I get the REAL story behind it all) but I wish they connected James involvement with Daphne again once the big reveal happened. Makes me wonder if that was a set up too?
Most of the characters were well developed and I liked the look back into the past for Valerie and Shay but this isn’t my favorite read from this author duo.

Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy of You Are Not Alone!
I will seriously read anything these two women write! The Wife Between Us was one of my favorite books and this is a very close second. Poor Shay, a lonely New Yorker who witnesses Amanda’s suicide, attends her memorial interested in finding out more about her life, becomes friends with her friends and gets embroiled in this mystery surrounding a guy, James... how are all of these women connected? You’ll read from all of their points of view and still not quite get the shocking ending. The Moore sisters are devious and manipulative and will stop at nothing to keep their big secret from being revealed, which doesn’t mean good things for Shay. Definitely recommend! Great, fast read!

Wow, another great book for this duo! The only criticism I had was that it was a little difficult to follow all the women in the group and their back stories but that did not keep me from enjoying this book. I loved Shay’s character and really was able to connect with her. This book kept me entertained and it was so hard to put down at times. Read this book, you won’t be disappointed!

I loved this book and raced through it! After having read their first two I knew I wouldn't be disappointed and this was one great thrill ride! When Shay--who is desperate for a job, friends, and a boyfriend--meets Jane and Cassandra after watching a stranger throw herself on the subway tracks, she finally feels like she's been accepted into an elite group. And she has...but she has no idea what's in store for her! Little does she know that there is a "plan" in place and all of their gestures of friendship are, in reality, more ominous than she can imagine. Told from alternating perspectives, the novel follows both Shay and the scheming young women as they plot their course that's bound for disaster; the only question is who will win and who will lose?

Another fantastic book by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. Loved this book. I think it's their best one yet! I enjoyed the setting and how the characters alternated telling their story each chapter. I will most definitely be recommending this book, Thank you for the advanced copy. I could not put it down!!

I think I will be in the minority with this book but I found it 'just o.k.'. I found it slow, and difficult to get a grasp on the plot until well past the halfway point. Essentially the book is about a nerdy young woman living in NYC and her relationship with two sisters. It's full of surprises that I did not see coming, which I liked. But to me, it read like a Young Adult novel, the lead character was really immature and naive.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the chance to read and review this book.
