Vivien Chien is back with another Lana Lee cozy, and Egg Drop Dead finds Lana unwittingly witnessing yet another murder scene. When she is hired to cater posh Donna Feng’s party, all goes swimmingly well until the dead body of the nanny ends up in the pool. Unable to stay away from the case, Lana and Co dig into Donna’s complicated past as well as those of her friends and enemies. What happens is typical cozy - quirky characters, frequent mishaps by Lana, and a quick and entertaining climax and resolution.
I’ve enjoyed this series for many reasons - WOC representation, generally well written content for a cozy, and memorable characters. Egg Drop Dead, while a touch slower than the others in the series, is a charming and easy read, which is perfect for a cozy mystery.
I received this book as an advance readers copy, but all opinions are my own.

Looking to grow her family’s business, Lana Lee adds catering to the line up. Their first catering event is a success, until the host’s nanny is found dead in the pool after being berated in front of everyone at the party.

Donna quickly becomes the prime suspect and insists Lana can figure out who the real killer is. Now Lana needs to get the drop on the killer before Donna’s secrets come out and put them both in danger.

I adore Lana Lee and this series! The characters are well developed and the story is well written. A real page turner with lots of red herrings that will keep you going back and forth guessing whodunit.

Lana Lee’s catering gig is off with a bang. She, her sister and the chef from the Noddle Shop are catering a dinner party for the very demanding Donna Feng. At the party, Donna has a very ugly scene with her nanny, Alice, in front of all the guests. Later, when Alice is found face down in the pool, an obvious victim of murder, Donna is suspect number one. Lana, who had felt sorry for Alice after the showdown with Donna at the party, decides to use her investigative skills to find out who the killer really is. Fans of this series will delight in the quirky heroine and her antics, along with those of her sometimes eccentric family

I love this delightful, funny and compelling cozy mystery series. Lana Lee is an engaging lead character and her relationships with her family keep me coming back for more. Lana, the manager of her family's restaurant, has decided to start a catering arm of the business and her first client is family friend Donna Feng, whose husband was murdered in the first book of this series (with Lana solving the crime). During the party Donna's nanny, Alice, is killed in their swimming pool and , at the same time, a thumb drive with incriminating information about Donna is left in her bathroom. When Donna becomes the prime suspect, she begs Lana to help her find out both who killed Alice as well as how the secret information about her was discovered. Once again Lana, along with her best friend Megan, are on the case, and once again, Lana emerges with the answers. I can't wait to find out what Lana will be doing next.
