A group of friends go on a vacation with their families. One of the women suspects her husband is having an affair with one of her friends.

The friends - Kate, Rowan, Jennifer, and Izzy - have known each other since college. The trip is to celebrate the women turning 40 that year. Kate is married to Sean and they have a teenage daughter and 9-year-old son, Rowan is married to Russ and they have a 5-year-old daughter, Jennifer is married to Alistair and they have two teenage sons, and Izzy is single with no children. They all have very different family dynamics.

Various points of view are used, but the main POV is Kate. Soon after arriving at the villa in France, Kate sees an incriminating text on her husband's phone. She thinks he's having an affair with one of her friends, but she has no idea which one. She soon realizes all of her friends seem to be hiding something. As their week together passes by, the tension between families and friends grows.

A slow-burning domestic suspense. This is an enjoyable read for fans of slower paced thrillers with lots of drama. Fantastic summer thriller.

Thanks to St. Martin's Press for the free review copy. All opinions are my own.

This was a fast-paced thriller that kept me guessing and wondering throughout the novel. I thought I knew where it was going multiple times, but I didn't quite figure it out and the reveal was so well done. I loved the pacing of this story and the multiple POVs that pull together at just the right time. The author placed a lot of red herrings throughout the novel that seemed so plausible, which kept me engaged and wanting to devour the book. The characters were flawed and written so vividly. I felt like I was on vacation with them in France.

What a VACATION!! I feel I was in this exact vacation and now I am in need of a huge glass of Chardonnay.

I knew it was going to be a thriller so I was just waiting for the shoe to drop, but Logan made me feel like the movies, right when you think something to going to happen the suspenseful music starts and POW, something new added into the mystery. I genuinely loved this book.

So Rowan planned this amazing vacation for her and her friends Kate, Izzy and Jennifer, they also brought their families, and this vacation sounded like a dream!!! Off to France, in this amazing house with a vineyard and everything. But for Kate this vacation is something that she hopes will help mend her situation with her husband. Now there is where the fun begins.

Kate works for law enforcement and the way she breaks down this whole book, and everyone on that vacation is amazing. Everyone has secrets, and the person who you least expect, is who you shouldve of expected!!!

Wow! This was a great staycation type of read. Highly recommend this one.

A suspense read high on domestic drama, The Vacation is focused on three families and one single friend taking a much needed holiday together at a beautiful and expensive villa in France. The trouble begins before any of them embark on travel, tensions are already high and everyone, kids included, have secrets that impede on the ability to enjoy their holiday plans. As they come together to celebrate their fortieth birthdays, the four college friends, Kate, Rowan, Jennifer, and Izzy, are at odds as their distancing relationships and old jealousies bubble up.

The narration begins with Kate, who is already sensing something is amiss, and less than an hour after arriving, she has reason to suspect duplicity on the side of her husband Sean. This part of the storyline is front and center as Kate observes and reflects on her friendships, and just who might be working to destroy her marriage. But about halfway through the book, the focus shifts and the reader is led down the path to see what's really at play. Deeper, darker secrets are exposed and nothing is as it seems. Like Kate, I did not see the truth behind the secrets being kept by Kate. All in all, I enjoyed how the story unfolds and liked how the author creates a myriad of characters that are not necessarily likable, making it all the more fun to see how some of their lives unravel.

This was the second book by T.M. Logan that I've read and will remain interested reader. 4 stars and recommendation. One thing to note is that this same story is also packaged as 2019 release The Holiday.

As you read TM Logan's suspense thriller, you will find yourself asking--more than once--the age-old question: With friends like these, who needs enemies?

Kate, Rowan, Jennifer, and Izzy have been friends since university, and now, as they hit forty, they convene for a dream vacation in France, complete with husbands and children. Kate's holiday doesn't start quite so fabulously, though, as she discovers incriminating texts on her husband Sean's phone that indicate he's having an affair. She had a bad feeling about him anyway, so this serves to confirm her suspicions.

Yes, she does confront him, but she doesn't get the answers she wants, so she tries to figure out the identity of the other woman. is it Rowan, with all her sophistication and intelligence? Sean is drawn to that, isn't he? Or is it Jennifer and her sporty physique and all her blonde beauty? She and Sean seem to be pretty secretive. Or is it Izzy, whose free spirit and wit make Sean light up when he's around her? As you learn, Kate has hurt each of her friends badly, however unintentionally, so could you blame any of them for rocking the headboard with Sean?

There is another subplot involving the children. Fortunately, they are much more likable than their parents. Well, most of them are. Rowan's daughter Odette needs her own book when she is older (she's five here) because that girl is a riot.

Yes, the eight parents are unpleasant at their best. You would not want to hang out with any of these people, and you can't figure out why they want to be with each other. Their relationships are toxic, and that toxicity bleeds through the people themselves.

One huge negative for me was the way TM Logan would contrive interruptions during critical conversations. Kate would be doing her detective work, trying to find out who's banging her husband, and just when it appears she's going to find out something important, BOOM! Something happens that distracts her and her subject. They range from the ridiculous to the harrowing, but by the time the truly scary one happens, you're rolling your eyes over the detour.

Will you be surprised by any of the revelations? Sure, maybe. The problem is that TM Logan draws out the conclusion a little too long, so by the time you're finished, you might not care.

If you read this one, let me know what you think. It's fun to hate the characters, and you might enjoy the whole "whose bed have your boots been under" (shoutout to Shania Twain!) mystery.

Oh wow!! This book was FULL of twists and turns. I felt like Kate not knowing anything! Holy cow!! It's hard to write a review without giving spoilers away. Just read it!! It's a really good thriller that will make you wonder how far you will go to protect your family.

Having read T.M. Logan's other two books and loving them, I looked forward to this one and it did not disappoint.

Four friends turning 40 decide to celebrate by vacationing in France. They rent a villa for a week, bringing their spouses and children. I have to say there were no likable characters but the writing and story line was excellent.

There was mystery, lies galore, ?cheating on spouse, death, and overall a dysfunctional group if I've ever seen one. It make for a good story where I suspected first one, then another character, and so cleverly written it was hard to put down.

4 stars (less)

Four longtime friends have planned to celebrate their upcoming 40th birthdays on an-over-the top vacation in the South of France. They’ll be staying in an Architectural Review worthy luxurious chateau rented by PR star Rowan, her husband Russ and young daughter Odette. The other couples are stay-at-home mom Jennifer, her husband Alistair and teenage sons Jake and Ethan. Izzy, a long time resident of Bangkok and single since the death of her fiancé, joins them. Kate, a police consultant and main narrator of this chilling story, is accompanied by Sean, teenage daughter Lucy and nine year old son Daniel. These are the main characters. We watch as their lives and their dream vacation go horribly, tragically wrong.

The cracks appear early. While unpacking shortly after arrival, Kate reads a text on Sean’s phone reminding him to “be careful this week as we discussed” and to immediately delete all messages. Reading on, she sees that Sean feels bad for lying to her. “CoralGirl’, Sean’s probable lover, must be one go her best friends. Bad as her situation is, Kate is not the only one with problems. Rowan is on the verge of selling her company, Izzy has a new mystery lover and Jennifer has problems at home. The children are also dealing with serious trouble. Suspicions and accusations mount as the action moves toward a totally unexpected, devastating conclusion.

The Vacation is definitely a 5 star read. T.M. Logan skillfully shows how perfect the lives of these friends and their families look on the surface contrasted to what lies beneath. This family drama and thriller is well written and carefully plotted. You won’t be able to put it down until the last page!

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press and T.M. Logan for this ARC.

I have always wanted to take a vacation with friends. However, after reading The Vacation, I will think twice about that!

After reading Lies, I became a T. M. Logan fan.

In this plot-driven thriller, Logan presents tantalizing twists via alternating viewpoints. The ending was unexpected, yet well-deserved!

His writing is crisp and easy to read.

Highly recommended for fans of domestic thrillers.

The Vacation by T.M. Logan is being marketed as a captivating thriller but yet again I felt this was more of a domestic suspense for at least the first three quarters or so. The story is told by changing the point of view between various characters with Kate having the biggest voice of the book

Kate and her three best friends always have time together but this time they have planned an epic vacation that includes all of their families. Shortly after arriving though Kate picks up her husband’s phone to find some suspcious texts coming in from another woman.

Kate is torn as how to approach the situation that her husband of so many years may be cheating on her. Kate pushes aside the idea of confronting her husband without any evidence so she begins to investigate her friends wondering which could be lying to her.

Now as I mentioned to me this one really didn’t have much “thrill” to it to be considered captivating. It felt as if we spent a good 75 to 80 percent on a he said she said possible affair with hints at the other characters having secrets too. However, I will say that although I knew something was coming at the end I never suspected the outcome to be such a twisty mess so I did actually love the ending it was just a shame it took so long to get there.

The Vacation is an excellent thriller! I was hooked from the first page and it just got better and better. I honestly believed any one of the friends could be having an affair with Kate’s husband. But I knew there was something else going on also. That something else was totally unexpected! The last few chapters had my heart in my throat. I will definitely be reading anything Logan writes- I have read all 3 of his books and have loved them all. Thanks for not letting me down!

I can’t begin to express how impressed I was with this book. I thought it was a little slow at first, but once it took off, WOW! There are so many unexpected twists I couldn’t put the book down! The story is told from the point of view of one character. It was hard to decide whether to like any of the characters. They all had things that made them likable and things that made me disapprove of them. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a domestic thriller. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and St Martin’s Press. All opinions are my own.

Rowan has the idea that this year’s girl’s weekend should be expanded to a week and include spouses and children. So Kate, her husband, and children travel to the South of France to meet Rowan and her family, Jennifer and her family, and Izzy. A week in a glamorous location in a rental villa with her university friends should have been wonderful. However, Kate sees a message she shouldn’t and it looks like her husband Sean is having an affair with one of her friends! Kate decides to keep quiet until she can uncover more facts, but it’s evident that everyone there has secrets and someone is willing to do anything to keep them from being revealed.

This book has an interesting premise and setting. Most of the story is told from Kate’s point of view and although Kate isn’t always completely likable, those are my favorite chapters. Interspersed with Kate’s narrative are flashbacks from another character’s point-of-view as well as at least one chapter from most of the other characters in the books. That was a little bit of overkill in my opinion, especially since even the young children have a few characters from their point of view. Most of the characters are unlikeable and I can’t imagine spending a week with them! Jennifer’s teenaged sons are unpleasant and I’m amazed at how Kate continues to let her young son hang around with them unsupervised. Rowan is probably the nicest of any of them. Since there are so many secrets being kept, it creates a lot of red herrings for Kate in her search to find out which of her friends is betraying her. In fact, many of Kate’s past actions provide motives for one of her friends to consider revenge and Kate realizes that.

I was able to figure out there was more to Sean’s situation that met the eye, but was surprised by how complicated things really were. Some of the twists became a little too hard to believe which takes away from the ending. Also, some of the teens’s stories overlap into the main plot, but much of it just slowed the pace of the book and took away from the tension that was building as Kate got closer to the truth. I’ve rounded my 3.5 star review up to four because I did enjoy much of the book. I thought the resolution was going to be something completely different and even though there are things that could have been better, I enjoyed the unexpected twists.

I really enjoyed this thriller and liked how while there was a main narrator, it also moved briefly to the POV of other secondary characters. It was a quick read that kept me guessing throughout, and especially this year (with likely no exotic vacation for me) the beautiful French setting didn't hurt!

Title: The Vacation ⠀⠀⠀
  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Author: T.M. Logan
  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Rate: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

”Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.” Four women (Kate, Izzy, Jennifer and Rowan) who have been best friends for as long as they can remember making the most of a luxurious villa in the south of France.
Kate has a secret: her husband is having an affair. But hold up it might be one of her best friends. Ladies and gentlemen let the fun begin.

What I Liked:
- There are many points of view but the majority is from Kate.
- Other than Daniel and Izzy, I didn’t like any of the characters in this book. I love it when an author is able to keep me interested even though I can’t stand the characters.
- The story is a lot more than Late finding which of her friends is riding her husband. It took a dark turn I wasn't expecting at all.
- I really enjoyed the writing style. Logan did a great job with leaving puzzle pieces here and there but it all comes together at the end.

What I Didn’t Like:
- The last 5-10% of the book wasn’t realistic because of everything I learned earlier in the book.
- I wish the chapter were longer. I guess it was supposed to create a cliffhanger but it only got annoying.

If you are looking for a fast-paced thriller filled with lies, betrayal, twist, and dark secrets.

This book was 3.75 rounded to 4 stars.

Four best friend and their families housed together for a week in a beautiful place that includes a pool. Sounds like the perfect vacation, right? What could go wrong?

Well, just about everything, it seems. Combine a bunch of secrets and lies, plenty of tension, squabbling adults, a few bratty kids, some teenage angst for good measure and you have a week that is anything but the perfect vacation.

It starts out relaxing and peaceful enough and then things start to ratchet up. With each turn of the page, the reader gets drawn into the drama. This story took twists and turns that I wasn't anticipating—but then, that's to be expected with books by this amazing and creative author.

The Vacation is an exciting thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. And an ending that I thought about long after I closed the cover.

Summary: Several long-time friends, along with their families, go on vacation in a secluded villa in France to celebrate the women’s fortieth birthdays. They almost all carry secrets with them.

Sean and Kate are on this vacation with their teenage daughter, Lucy, and nine-year old son, Daniel. Recently, Sean has been acting oddly and Kate suspects he’s having an affair. Jennifer and Alistair are there with their two teen-aged sons, Jake and Ethan. Jake has a history of disturbing behavior. Izzy arrives alone, her fiance having been killed by a bus years ago, but she hints at a new illicit relationship. Rowan, the successful businesswoman whose client owns the villa, arranged the vacation, making her less wealthy friends feel both grateful and inadequate. Her husband, Russ, drinks too much. Their five-year-old- daughter, Odette, is the youngest of the group and the only one with nothing to hide.

Based on a text she saw on her husband’s phone, Kate spends most of her vacation obsessed with figuring out which one of her friends is having a relationship with her husband. But when she learns what is really going on, it is far more disturbing.

Comments: The Vacation is full of characters that I’m glad aren’t my friends. The most likeable ones were the two youngest children, Ethan and Odette. Reading it was like watching the proverbial train wreck. I really wanted to slap several of the adults for being selfish twits.

I really loved two other books that I read by T.M. Logan — Lies and 29 Seconds. While still a decent entry into the suspense genre, I felt that The Vacation wasn’t quite up to those standards.

I will leave a review on Amazon or B&N on July 21, 2020

I have never read any of this author's books before, but Wow this one I really had wrong from the start I didn't see it coming until close to the end of the book. This book was so well written, and I basically didn't like any of the characters yet the author kept me reading with the storyline. I would recommend this book to others.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher St. Martin's Press, and all opinions expressed here are my own.

This book was somewhat interesting. I enjoyed it in parts. I was invested in the beginning and enjoyed the main characters point of view. Unfortunately some the parts were very long which made this book a slow burn. I was expecting more depth overall, and was left feeling meh at the end. A premise that has been done before, but just needed more execution to make the story stand out. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
