I really enjoyed this latest thriller!! It took a twist that I didn't see coming!! I was suspicious of everyone in this book!! I highly recommend this to any thriller fan!! I can't wait for a new release!
Loved it! The story took a twist that I wasn't expecting. Throughout the book I suspected everyone. I looked at all all Kate's friends and even the husbands. They were all so suspicious. I thought the book was going to be about a simple affair, I was completely wrong. Chapter 77 had me in tears. I kept thinking - why would the author do this?? This is horrible!!! The twists and turns!!! Loved the ending!! I hope everyone gets what they deserve. My favorite characters had to be Kate and Daniel. Daniel was so sweet, especially how he bought his sister candy to make her feel better. Not sure how Kate was able to be so patient. If I would have seen those text messages, I would have taken the phone with all the evidence right to my husband and confronted him. Jennifer was a scary mother. She hovered around her demon children and thought they were little angels. She took helicoptering to the extreme. This was just an all around great book and kept me guessing until the very end.
Definitely recommend the book. It was a great mystery/Thriller that had me hooked from the start. I loved everything about it- the characters, story and writing style. Look forward to reading more books by the author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from St. Martin's Press through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
The story is built around Kate's suspicion of her husband Sean's extramarital affair with one of her best friends that are on vacation with them. She finds cryptic clues that lead her to believe that Sean is cheating on her, and she is intent on finding the truth. Which friend is it? Everyone one of them is a suspect.
For almost the entire book, I was led down the path of the cheating friend & husband story. I thought to myself - this is the oldest story in the book, I can't believe that I'm reading this - but then the last 20% happened and WOW the twists and turns started and jerked me around until the big reveals at the end.
This book is about family, friendship, marriage, motherhood, mental health, murder, social media, betrayal, lies and secrets. The story is a slow burn to start, but I loved the surprises and how this book turned out nothing like it seemed. I wish that the plot twist at the end started earlier in the book, but maybe I just need to go back and re-read the clues.
Since reading Lies, T.M. Logan has become an author whose new releases I highly anticipate so I was very excited to receive an ARC of The Vacation. While, I liked both Lies and <29 Seconds better, I still found The Vacation to be a very enjoyable read.
A tale of a group of friends who decide to vacation together, with their families, The Vacation is full of secrets and twists that will keep you guessing until the end. A great summer read!
The Vacation is something everyone looks forward to. Four girlfriends plan a splendid vacation in France to celebrate their 40th birthdays, they've vacationed together many times but for this holiday they are bringing along husbands and children for the big celebration. What starts off to be a fabulous vacation and the most beautiful chateau starts to fall apart; there are rivalries, deceit, secrets and mistrust. I enjoyed this book for the beautiful scenery, complicated women and how the story propels into a very surprising ending. Such fun! Thank you #StMartinsPress#TMLogan#TheVacation#NetGalley
This book was great. Full. of secrets and misdirection and in the perfect setting of the south of France. Some of it was not quite believable but hey it is fiction.. Perfect read for the summer.
The Vacation by T.M. Logan is a great who-done-it novel! Perfect summer beach read! The Vacation is an easy read that flows nicely. The chapters are from different character's point of view but the chapters are clearly labelled and easy to follow the story.
Four lifelong friends meet up in a villa in France for a huge family get-away, bringing together everyone's kids and husbands. Kate begins to suspect something is going on with her one of her friends and her husband, she just can't narrow down which friend it is. Everyone seems guilty. Suddenly you aren't sure who is more guilty, the adults or the children. T.M. Logan takes you on a wild ride with lots of twists and turns before dropping you off to the end of the story.
I highly recommend The Vacation and will be looking for other works by T.M.Logan in the future. Special Thanks to T.M. Logan, St.Martin's Press, and NetGalley for the advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest opinion. #NetGalley, @StMartinsPress
When four friends take a vacation with their husbands and children to a lovely villa in France, their get-away turns into a vacation from Hell. It starts when Kate finds an unexpected text on her husband’s phone from someone named CoralGirl. Immediately, Kate turns suspicious, and not only wonders who it could be, she wonders which of her friends sent it, as the text says they will have a chance to talk in France,
Every chapter ends with an annoying attempt at more suspense. It feels contrived, rather than natural, and I continued reading only to find who it could be that would betray Kate’s friendship by sabotaging her marriage. We suspect and analyze each friend in turn, while their children text and pout and disobey their parents in the background,
The conclusion is original, and I appreciated how the perfect, long term friends were less than perfect as they vacationed in France. There were moments of suspense that would have any spouse, or parent, who cared about his family in a near panic. Wondering what one would do in the same situation was the best part of this novel.
A very good suspenseful mystery. Four women who went to college together join with their families for a vacation in Southern France. One of them thinks she has discovered that her husband is having an affair with one of her friends. As she tries to determine which friend it is she goes through many emotions. The 4 women’s characters are varied and well developed. The story does not proceed as would be expected. There are many shocks and surprises throughout the novel with a very surprising ending. I found the novel to be unexpected and very interesting..
The Holiday was a perfect escape kind of read for me. 4 stars! Interesting plot and setting. No problem holding my attention. I really enjoyed it!
4 friends plan a trip to France to have a holiday together, families included. We know upfront that Kate heads there suspecting that her husband, Sean, is having an affair with one of the other women (who must be one of her lifelong friends). She doesn't know who it is but sees some messages on his phone which leads to her belief they will make plans about their relationship while on the vacation. She must find out which one of her friends it is. The secret becomes so big someone might just kill to keep it.
The thing is..we soon see that Kate has been the cause of some type of harm or misfortune to each of the other 3 women at some time in their lives. This may have been intentional or not. Also, there is a separate little plot to watch with the kids in this group. Pay attention as that unravels. It is not pretty.
This is my second book by T.M. Logan and I thought this a very good read. I will be adding more by this author. I highly recommend this one... lots of great suspense. Many thanks to the publisher via Netgalley for a digital copy to read for review.
I very much enjoyed this book. It started out one way and finished a with a complete 180 from where it started. So many twists and turns, it kept me on my toes for sure.
**Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**
I thought The Vacation, by T.M Logan was an enjoyable thriller. I tore through it pretty quickly. I liked that the story was set at a vacation home in France, at a gathering of 4 different families, in which the women were all old friends. The story centres around Kate, one of the women at the vacation home, who finds evidence suggesting her husband is having an affair with one of the other 3 women on the trip. At first, Kate does not know who to suspect, but as the story unfolds, Kate learns more about some buried family secrets. There are many twists and turns I didn't see coming and I didn't guess what was going on until the very end. I think this is a solid domestic thriller, and I would recommend it.
I enjoyed the unravelling of a mystery in this story. You start off with a discovery, and go through most of the book trying to figure out which one of her friends could have betrayed her. But then everyone has a secret.
In the end, I couldn't have anticipated the truth. Or the actions of some of the characters. This had a slightly ominous undertone throughout and a good flow. I also liked getting multiple view points.
The Vacation by T.M. Logan takes place in a magnificent villa in the south of France. Four best friends from their days in university, along with their families, are enjoying a beautiful week together on the estate of one of the woman’s clients. Each woman has a secret. Take Kate, the main character, her husband is having an affair...possibly with one of the other women on this trip. But within each family, is another cluster of secrets that everyone is trying their best to hide. The lies, schemes, and twists just keep coming. You will never see the ending coming, but it makes so much sense when you get there.
This was a fantastic thriller to read. The characters are not very likeable, I’ll put that out there right now. They are conniving, selfish, and sneaky...and that includes the kids too. But the secrets are really good, as long as you aren’t the one truly living with them, I wouldn’t want that much drama in my life, especially not with my friends. The book has so many different layers, each friend could be guilty of being the other woman, none of them would have surprised me, however once the truth was revealed I admit I was completely shocked. I read this in two days, I just had to know what was happening. Then when one of the vacationer’s is murdered, well that brought out a whole new dimension. This is the third book I have read by T.M. Logan, and my absolute favorite so far!
I would like to thank Netgalley, St. Martin’s Press, and T.M. Logan for an advanced reader copy of this fabulous book in exchange for an honest opinion. I would recommend this book, as well as his others, to anyone who loves a true thriller with surprising twists.
This was one crazy vacation! Four long time friends, plus their families, set out to have a
fun week in the French Mediterranean sun, and like all good dramas, chaos ensues. This book was such a tangled web of friendship, families, and secrets! It’s short chapters and fast pace make it the perfect bingeable vacation read!
Thank you St Martin’s Press for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book. I had not read much from T.M. Logan before now but I definitely will be in the future. This book held my interest and it surprised me which is hard for thrillers to do since I read a lot of them. I liked the ending as well.
The Vacation was an extremely fast read for me. I found it to be okay - good but not great. It seemed like not much happened throughout the first 2/3 of the book, but I was definitely intrigued enough by the "who dunnit" aspect to keep reading.
Overall, I gave it a 3.5 out of 5.
Thank you to Netgalley for a copy! The vacation is about a group of friends who go away to France from England to celebrate their 40th birthdays. There are so many secrets between them all. To start with, Katie is convinced her husband is having an affair with one of her best friends after spying on his phone. She is on a mission to find out who. I was going to rate this book ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ because it was very slow moving. Also many of the characters are not likeable and really annoyed me. I really enjoyed the ending though and how everything gets tied together. My finally rating is ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 💫
What starts out as a fun vacation with old friends, quickly turns into a trip from Hell. The vacation has so many twists and turns, it will keep you guessing until the very end.
Thank you Netgalley, St. Martins Press, and T.M. Logan for the ARC. It didn’t disappoint!
When I read T.M. Logan's books, they always seem like they're going in one direction and I just need to figure out whodunit. (In this one, everyone had a reason to be guilty, so that in itself was a challenge!) But then he throws in some twists that turn everything around. This time, around 3/4 of the way through, I thought I'd figured it all out for once.... but no. This went in a completely different direction than I'd ever guessed and made for a thrilling, very unique ending. Definitely a great summer pagee-turner!
Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the advance digital copy!
